Agree with Vt Cruiser..there are definite EDGE haters out there who seem to want it to fail. There are also enthusiatic Edge cheerleaders too...esp the EDEN supporters.. who may be relatives or friends.

I believe EDGE will be a success.... many positives but also issues that hopefully can be corrected or adjusted. If EDGE is not for everyone there are other X ships being updated...and other cruise lines.

Hcat, as always Marilyn is spot on.  Her comments are always well thought out and extremely helpful.  We should all thank her for her patience and realistic views.  I for one do.

Sadly the Eden cheerleader is back and I just can’t seem to block her.  Most of her posts have been eliminated and hopefully the most recent will be gone soon.

Hope all is well with you and Sal, Katie

Yes, the smell is being reported, along with saying Celebrity is working very hard to correct the problem.  Also quite a few have reported that they have smelled this on other ships in the past too.  So, let’s hope Celebrity finds it and or it begins to decrease...I have yet to cruise, but will soon and be prepared either way.  I am sure there will be lots of good things onboard!  Yes, my glass is half full and getting excited for the cruise with my cruise buddies, along with those posting on our roll call too!

I also agree with Marilyn’s comments; she has been on Edge several times!

 Interesting..

Wonder if this  would  hopefully be something the maint dept  can conquer...and would the fix be permanent,???

Thanks..all good here.  Back to NY  for awhile.  I will be blocking Eden fan , as well if I can. Hope Vt enjoys her cruise  this week ...that's the flower power I believe

As to the smell:

I am following a live review from Equinox.   Poster  has an SV & she said the bad smell and green  liquid  is there  ..waiting for updates!. Wonder why this  is happening?

Anyone have a new EDGE update?

I’m having so much fun reliving it and new reviews say people are doing better!!  We ended up in Eden two more times after wet got on the ship and loved it there. Hidden gem for sure!

Hey Bee, we've missed you for the last few days.  Some thought you were exterminated.

Sorry but I had  to make the  Bee  buzz off from my list,  joins B Rizzle back at the hive.  Often off topic and promotes EDEN!

I will pass along some advice at least others will appreciate! Yeah people getting more and more comfortable using the pool as their personal toilet isn't right . There were a few times we smelled something but it was VERY FEW and I was impressed by that compared to what you read here. STOP peeing and the pool and flush quickly and that will SOLVE the problem!!

You are so welcome.

Hate to get involved :-). Sailed March 3 cruise and IV deck 8 port side closer to back elevators. Spent a fair bit of time by the Sunset bar and around the Casino bar. Not so much front part of ship. Pretty sensitive nose for odors and must admit did not experience either in cabin or while around the ship. Does not mean not an issue or problem but only that was not an issue for us in the areas of the ship we travelled. Am sure that Celebrity has to be working to identify and problem/source and address.

Agree with comment on need for windblocks in certain top side areas and was told engineers working on that at least in Rooftop Garden area.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got off Edge this morning. It was my 18th cruise. Unfortunately, we found the smell to be quite prevalent which I’d liken to rotten eggs. We actually switched cabins on the first sea day and did not have a problem in the new cabin but did smell it at times around the ship all week. I hope they fix it. Otherwise, the ship is amazingly beautiful and had a great time.

 Thanks for posting.

Where did you find the odor to be prevalent?

And what cabin or area did you switch from ...and where did you go..?

Glad you had a great time!

Considering taking along a humidifier in a can like Damprid.  Available at Wal-mart for $9.  And a room deodorizer I always take from Bath and Body Works.  Stick the Damprid under the bathroom sink.  It should help remove the odor.

Friends just off today in a Sky Suite reported the same issues with rotten egg smells, or sewage issue smells in several areas of the ship.  This is my third group of friends who have said the same thing.....and they don't know each other??????

I’m so sorry to hear that the smell continues to lurk, and that you had to change cabins. I was hoping that this would be solved by now - my family is booked on another cruise in July and are considering switching ships so they don’t have to experience it again.

I have commented about this on a few threads minus the technical name of the issues in the bathrooms.

All they really need to do for the stateroom bathrooms is to train the room hosts to pour water down the drain outside the shower regularly. I noticed one day the drain under the toilet/counter had water around it. Our room had been recently cleaned and I am guessing our room host dumped water down the drain so this issue didn’t occur. Our room host was one of the best we have ever had, was definitely very detail oriented and super friendly.

We switched from an inside cabin deck 7 midship to a balcony cabin deck 8 aft. We noticed the smell on other passenger cabin decks but did not smell anything in the public rooms. Others we talked to also had the smell in their cabin bathrooms.

Sounds like it’s not just a case of pouring water down the cabin drain then if it’s prevalent throughout the ship. Not pleasant if in eating areas 🤮.
