Aosborn Posted March 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2019 Can anyone that has recently been on Allure of the seas confirm if Lobster is served in the main dining room. If so which night?
Clarea Posted March 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2019 Yes, second formal night, which is normally night 5 or 6, depending on itinerary.
jean-lynd Posted March 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2019 We just got off last Sunday and yes we had lobster on the second formal night which was Costa Maya for us. We each had 2!
taglovestocruise Posted March 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2019 It is usually served that same night in the Windjammer. We had late dining and my son loaded up with a few plates full a few hours before MDR seating. The only difference is that they are split shells, but they have tray after tray.. Snit13 Posted March 3, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2019 Hope everyone knows they are not Maine lobster. They are what we call Bahamian or Florida lobster and if not prepared properly can be quite tough. Could never figure out why anyone would get excited about them. Florida Stone Crabs are far superior.

They don't serve Florida Stone Crab on a cruise so no reason to get excited about them. 1

One pound had 6 claws so the pound served just 2 people. I don't think that is in the RCCL budget. It was a great dinner, even if we did have to eat at home! Those days are long gone but I can dream. We never bought a FL lobster but did eat them on cruises but ordered steak too.

I use to work in Naranja and down in Key Largo but that was before Hurricane Andrew. I enjoy going out during Florida mini season and catching lobster. It will never be as good as Maine lobster but we still enjoy them.

rncruiser Posted March 4, 2019 #16 Share Posted March 4, 2019 The lobster I had on Allure a couple of months ago was the best lobster I have ever had. I have had lobster in Maine and Cape Cod, as well as at some of the best restaurants in New York. I was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious and perfectly cooked my lobster tails were.

Interesting, the lobster I had last year on Freedom was the worst I'd ever had.
Rare teacherman Posted March 4, 2019 #18 Share Posted March 4, 2019 We are Diamond Plus. I do not eat lobster so I cannot rate it. My wife does eat lobster. We recently came off of HAL Koningsdam. They serve a Surf and Turf-small filet mignon with a lobster tail. My wife said the lobster tail was twice as large and much better than any she ever had eaten on RCCL. We sail on Allure in 3 weeks with our family. They will all delight in ordering lobster tail. I will probably order a chicken breast. MHO is that the first person who saw a lobster and decide to eat it must have been very hungry. 2
kkshelton Posted April 16, 2019 #19 Share Posted April 16, 2019 I board the Allure on Sunday. Are the MDR menus on the app accurate because I do not see any lobster offered except the whole lobster offered as an upcharge. I am trying to figure out which night to do the chef's table and I don't see much variation in the nightly menus. Also we have a suite so does Coastal Kitchen have different lobster offerings? The "free" lobster is normally served in the MDR on the second formal night, and that same lobster is also offered in CK on that same night. Thanks. I finally found it on the menu on the app on night 5 which is confusing because I thought formal night on Eastern Caribbean on the Allure should be 2 and 6. Maybe the app is wrong. I don't care that much but I like knowing all the food options lol. We are actually eating at Samba on night 5 and since we are going with others it would probably be a hassle to change it. If so which night? 2 weeks ago, yes, it was served somewhere in the middle of the cruise... The actual lobster meaty part was the size of my thumb (I am female with average hands). It wasn't worth it at all, so I wouldn't schedule my specialty dining around the lobster night in MDR. I also had some kind of beef that night which was outstanding. It was some kind of sliced beef, medium, very tender and juicy. Definitely worth the effort. You know, you can see the menus ahead of time on your Royal app. P.S. We saw some people wearing swimming trunks and t-shirts on the formal night in MDR. They were allowed in and not escorted out in shame. I mean - we don't dress up formally, but we don't wear swimming trunks to MDR on a formal night. Edited April 16, 2019 by Itchy&Scratchy

Formal night on the eastern last week was 2 and 5. I would change your Samba res. 1. Samba is NEVER full, not even close. 2. When we boarded we made all our specialty dining reservations stating we wanted MDR for both formal nights. The staff member incorrectly booked us for specialty on night 5 and on day 5 we realized this and changed no problem. No hassle at all. 3. The lobster was actually very good
