Coastal Kitchen and Junior Suites?

My curiosity has been piqued.

I can book Coastal Kitchen in my Cruise Planner for the Anthem's June 6, 2019 cruise.

We were in a JS on Anthem in January and could not book Coastal Kitchen in the cruise planner.  I tried as soon as we booked and a few times after that, but we never were able to book it.  Others on our rollcall tried too and could not book.  Others have said they couldn't either for other sailings recently.  Maybe they have fixed it now.

This piqued my curiosity so I checked my upcoming sailings that are on ships with Coastal Kitchen and find I can book CK through the cruise planner only on Symphony.  I am Pinnacle and in balcony cabins on all but Harmony where I am in a junior suite.

Symphony  -  Yes

Ovation  -  No

Harmony  -  No

Oasis  -  No

Very interesting.... I leave sat on Symphony and am sky class yet I do not have access to reserve coastal kitchen in my planner.  Fortunately I was able to make reservations there with our suite concierge via email that I received on Friday.  This is our first RC Cruise so perhaps lack of having any ‘status’ is the reason we did not have that option in our planner.

Just got off of Allure and booked a JS. We went to the CK the second night and each night thereafter. First time we booked the day of. After that we booked for the next night after dinner on the way out.

Only full suites and above can book ahead of time when they receive their email from the concierge.  JS can book on a space available basis.  You will be competing with non suite paying pinnacles and in my opinion they have the advantage over a JS guest.  So if there are many pinnacles on your sailing you are going to find yourself SOL.

The last 3 cruises on Oasis, sailing in sky class, got an email from the concierge 5 days out.  Never had a problem when emailing back asking for, and receiving our reservations, for CK at the time we wanted.  Did not attempt to book online in advance.

True story. Sailed Oasis in February (Sea Class). Went to CK podium around 11:30 boarding day to make reservations for the week. CK manager said no need, he saw our name on the manifest and already had us down for 6pm every night. 😎

Does that make us a NSPP?

We were officially in Suite class. 🚤

Seems more often than not you are an NSPP.

Since this thread asked about Jr. Suites and CK, I should mention that even though there were lots of Pinnacles and all the suites were filled on the Allure we never had a problem getting a table as a Jr Suite.  There were always tables available when we were there.

I guess it depends on the definition.

JS's are Suite Class on Oasis and Quantum.😉

But probably more often than you, I am in 'full' suite. At least on Royal.

I know, how gauche of me.

Pinnacles like September and they like Oasis and Allure.  Good luck with CK on that one.  I wouldn't want to be in your shoes.

OMG there are "class issues" on cruise ships👀 I am shocked I can tell you, say it ain't so.😖

Oh well, the MDR and Chops will have to do, "needs must" and all that.😉

We ate in CK 5 out of 7 nights on our recent Allure cruise. The first night in the MDR and the last night at Chops. The CK was delightful. After the first night we simply made reservations after dinner for the following night. Never had a problem getting in.

I was originally booked in a JS for our upcoming Anthem sailing. I tried for several months to book CK online, and always got that “You are not eligible” message. But when I got my Royal Up bid accepted for the Sky Loft Suite, I was able to go online and immediately book CK.

Ah the old class warfare argument of the left.  When you can afford to travel premium class, you come to expect a premium class experience; not a diluted one like Royal offers on their cruises with NSPPs swarming in suite areas that are falsely marketed as exclusive when they didn't pay for a suite.

Hello, I am in a sky suite on Symphony and leaving in 2 weeks however Coastal Kitchen is not offered in my cruise planner as a choice for dining reservations.  I think I read somewhere that the concierge contacts us prior to the cruise for such reservations but if not, I'll just head there when I board.  (If I can find it..........first mega ship!!!)

Yes. I’m on Allure on the 26th in a CLS cannot book CK online. Haven’t heard from concierge yet

You will get an email about 6-7 days before boarding from the concierge. Oasis class ships cannot book CK via cruise planner.  It is mainly for Anthem that can book CK via cruise planner.
