Did I make a mistake I can't fix?

So when booking (which became a cluster for reasons not carnival) I ended up having to call in with my sister in law to change dates and itineraries the day we booked our cruise. We did book early saver. The lady gave us rooms all together which were not on the carnival site. We picked a cove balcony cause I always wanted to try one. I was a little concerned of the location she gave us because of the galley above, but it was at the very end of the galley so I thought maybe it won't be bad. Well, I just read someones review who had that exact room and from the sounds of it, it is bad!!

So my question is, can we move to a different cove balcony that isn't below the galley? The prices for the sailing have went up but it would be cove for cove. Would carnival want to charge us for this? I'm not as concerned about being right next to the rest of our group as I am about not getting sleep and my husband and I being miserable.

Thank you all for your help in letting me know before I make a phone call! I'm guessing I can't just do it online... oh that would be wonderful.

Since you booked as Early Saver, changing your room is basically like canceling and booking a new cruise. So if you're before Final Payment you would forfeit your deposit, however much that was. If you're past Final Payment then you might be stuck with everything being lost.

Your best bet is to call Carnival and ask them. I do know that sometimes they have some leeway with charges, especially if what you're doing is changing from one cabin to a similar cabin on the same sailing. Most here will give you advice, but Carnival is the only one who can tell you for sure.

Also, if you don't like the answer you get, ask to speak to a supervisor. If that doesn't work, try calling back another time. Also, weekends and Monday mornings are not the best time to call them- they're super busy and beside the long wait you're less likely to get satisfaction. I'd try Tuesday or Wed morning. Just my 2 cents!

The only way to know for sure is to call Carnival and ask.  I have changed cabins many times.  Sometimes it's free, another time it was $4, and a few times it was more.

This.  We've had to change staterooms before.  It was a minimal amount, but so totally worth it.  Give Carnival a call.

I agree with this.  Just make sure you do a fake booking before you call so you know what the true cabin prices are, if you booked today.  Sometimes they have transferred me at the same rate and sometimes lower.

This does not sound correct.

According to CCL's page there is only a $50 charge assessed if you change date or ship.

From Carnivals site:

A $50 change fee per guest will be assessed for ship and/or sail date changes made prior to final payment due date.

We had to change two Early Saver bookings and were charged $50 per person each time. This is why we never book Early Saver rates anymore - we change our minds too much and we receive casino rates which are much cheaper. I find it quite annoying that those who have changed their cabins many times and never been charged - did you book Early Saver rates? If so, Carnival needs to do some training so everyone is on the same page and if there is supposed to be a $50 charge per person for those who change Early Saver cabins, then they should be charged that fee. Hardly fair to those of us who have had to pay it.

As long as the new rooms that you want are in the same price category (example 4B to 4B, 6A to 6A, 7A to 7A, etc...) there should not be a charge.

For those on here saying that they paid a $50 p/p fee, that only applies if you change ship and/or travel dates.

Man I thought the same thing about my cove balcony on the Breeze a couple weeks ago. I thought since it was at the end of the galley it wouldn't be an issue (and for the most part it wasn't), but sure enough like clockwork we woke up 5:30 every morning to noise from the galley

If the cabin is the same category number as your original cabin then you should be able to just change rooms but then again its Early saver so they don't have to let you change rooms - I would contact your TA asap to find out what you can do

If its a different category number than your original booking then you will have to pay the price difference and if it happens to be lower price than the original there is a fairly good chance they will not allow you to change it period

I screwed up too, we had a balcony on the veranda. But it was very forward and I started getting nervous with all the reading I was doing  about getting more sea sick etc. I called my pvp and he changed it without problem and put us mid ship. The happiness wore off when I realized we are on top of the dream bar which I’m thinking is the casino bar? Ugh

I book almost all early saver for myself and clients. Moving laterally (same cat) to another cabin has never cost extra. The only time I have incurred cost was for an upgrade which is charged at current pricing. If you want to downgrade you will need to cancel and rebook, which winds up in a loss of 50pp with the balance of deposit credited to the new booking. You may have to add funds depending upon the deposit required by the current promos.
