Beverage packages on Princess

I called today to see if I could upgrade my existing cruise reservation (Feb 2020, 10 Day Southern Caribbean) from the inside room to a balcony and then get the "sip and sail promo".  The price was shocking to say the least.

We are currently booked on a casino offer, so this cruise cost us under 500.00 total for two (inside room).  For us to upgrade this to a balcony and get the promo included it would end up costing us about 3,000.00 more.  That makes me think that the promo really does jack up the cruise price, thus making it a little more than "Free".

I don't think the S&S promo can be applied to a casino rate.

Also, I thought it only applied to cruises from about May 2020 thru May of 2021.

I used to like the soda and more package. They definitely got their moneys worth out of me on that as I liked it for the convenience but only used it for Mocktails. I won't buy the new ones. So they lost a sale.

That package was the best deal on Princess. No wonder they changed it. Now it seems like a no-brainer not to buy it.

My sister and I are ready to book the Regal for next April. She usually does all-inclusive vacations, but I really want her to cruise with me. (girls only trip) She is used to getting a drink whenever she chooses on vacation, so the S&S pkg is appealing to us. We will sail for 7 days, with 3 ports and 3 sea days. One of the ports is Princess Cays, so it is good there also. In pricing it out for a balcony room, the rate is higher than it will be next month, but I believe it is cheaper to book under this promotion than to try to add it later. It is expensive but I feel it makes sense this time when considering the big picture.🌴

You can not compare regular pricing to a casino offer. Casino offers assume you will risk significant funds at the casino making it profitable.

I don't like S&S even though it is "free" because it is largely baked into the fare.  I'd rather have the OBC, but they killed that option.  Instead, there is a lower non-ref fare - at least last time I inquired.  I just wait for 3FF.

Casino rates cannot be combined with the Sip and Sail rate.  This is the one promo that I know of where it cannot be combined. I know for certain that the casino rate can be combined with the 3 for free promo.

Princess has changed the Sip'N'Sail offer over time (no more specialty dinner or OBC alternative) ... so it remains to be seen what 3 for Free will look like when next offered (combinable or not with special rates, for instance)

Well, we bought it reluctantly.   Couldn't convince myself to drink soda only.  Princess made bank, not sure I'll do it again, but I did drink a bunch of mocktails.  The $30 price increase stinks.
