Depending on how the “port charges, taxes plus administration fee whatever that is” all work out, “free” can mean something a whole lot different than “no cost” - or even low cost.

Well, the cruise in question IS an NCL cruise! Kind of like winning a steak dinner at Denny's instead of at Ruth's Chris Steak House!

I am not familiar with Royal.  I read OP’s later post about “administration fee whatever that is”.  It is obvious that by the time port charges and taxes are added to required service charges  and the “administration fee” that “freebie” is hardly an appropriate term.

 

I never said worthless, but I repeat my thought that it is unlikely that NCL would give away anything of value.

 

It would be interesting to learn the total amount out of pocket OP would wind up paying for that “free” cruise in a small, dark, inside cabin.

Haha. It made perfect sense when I thought of it.  Maybe not so much on paper though & won't be the last time, I'm sure.    Anyway, it is all about the spice of life I guess.

That does sound cheap.

 

Although, having sailed NCL, I think I could find better ways to spend $200 - $300 and 3 days than in that inside cabin.

Is this the cabin you originally asked about? because 12531 is a Virtual Balcony category CF concierge Inside Family Suite, with approximate square footage of 572... Not what most cruisers would call terribly small!
