As they are by far the world's largest country, it would stand to reason that they would.  They have traditions, practices and superstitions that contribute very much to the cross species infection.  Most recently there was/is a thought that the bat soup they eat iin the local market caused it.  Bats are filthy.  They carry disease.  From what I understand, there will be cages of bats and diners will select a bat much like one would choose a lobster.   The vat is thrown live into the pot and once cooked is served whole without any removal of hair or organs and is then feasted upon.  There is a very active trade in exotic animals as the locals believe partaking in certain parts of certain animals will impart special powers to the one who eats those parts.  

A large part of the population does not believe in Western medicine and its been found that many of the Chinese herbal medicines are ineffective and sometimes toxic.  I will post some links to some videos that discuss  the cultural contribution to the crisis.

Indians are mostly vegetarian and those who aren't eat protein from farmed animals, not from diseased wild animals like bats.

The first link I provided above talks about India.  They have only now had their first confirmed case.  It will be interesting to see the reaction there.  As Winston pointed out, they are very open to receiving help from first world countries and are more open. 

 

The two guys in that first linked video lived for about 13 years in China and only just now moved to the us.  They have Chinese wives and a massive network of contacts  in China.  One area where they lived has no reports of infection, but their friends there are telling them there are a lot of dead bodies.

Sadly I won’t be sure about that at all... it’s not clear if another ship comes to Southampton in 2021, and otherwise the only possible candidate for that route would have been Adventure, and obviously she doesn’t do such an itinerary. If you’re interested in such a cruise, have a look at NCL, Princess in 2021.

Thanks... Next cruise manager here on Vision thinks the west bound TA that hits Greenland/Iceland will be posted in April.  Will continue to wait until then...and if not...looks like something alternate.  Brilliance seems to have done a disappearing act from May to Sept. in 2021.

I don‘t understand why they would decide to use Brilliance for year round short party cruises in warm Caribbean waters, a total waste of her advantages.

Because they've been increasing their short cruise offerings and someone calculated they could make the most profit if she stays in Tampa.

I guess it’s a totally waste for her to sail from Tampa in the winter then also. 
 

Brilliance is already doing those itineraries. They want to expand their presence in the Caribbean from Tampa. It is logical.

The reasoning behind  several of the moves of ships in recent months seem to be quite strategic. MSC will have the Amonia sailing year round from Tampa starting in November of 2020. This seems to have led to the Brilliance move. 

 

The pending move of Quantum to join Ovation at Seattle seems to be strategic as well with NCL having 2 top ships at Seattle. 

 

The short cruise market seems to be vital to RCI to build and maintain their market share and to feed future longer sailings as the clients mature. I would bet they are getting very high shipboard revenue per day on these sailings or they would not be making these moves.

Brilliance is still doing her Canada 7niters and the Boston to Tampa Repo Sept-Nov 2020 and 2021(which I'm on). Waiting to see if after Summer 21 in Tampa she'll do a nice extended Repo back to Bos in Sep2021

That does not change my point that it is a shame and waste to let such a ship do such cruises also in summer. If it would not be driven by the bridge restrictions in Tampa they would send a Voyager class ship with water slides, flow rider and such but not Brilliance that is much better used for longer itinerary focused cruises. It would be much better to switch Brilliance with Rhapsody or Vision!

I never disagreed with your point. I was just providing an explanation as to why I think they decided to keep her in Tampa during the summer.

Those are only port bookings giving us an advance insight into what Royal has not yet released.

TOTALLY AGREE!! Radiance-Class is a really flexible class of ships, best suitable for cruises to Northern Europe or Alaska with port-intensive itineraries or more advanced itineraries as such. IMHO it's a huge waste to do such uninspiring short-cruises with such as ship.

IMHO Adventure's Europe deployment in 2021 prooves that Radiance-Class is far better for such Northern Europe cruises: Adventure does not do any Norwegian Fjord cruises, the Arctic Circle cruise is not offered in 2021, which has been offered since 2012 every year, at least once from Copenhagen. She's just doing Baltic cruises, with two useless sea-days between Copenhagen and Tallinn, and the 7-night runs just call at three ports...

I really miss her in Europe already...

 

I'd also rather like to see the old Majesty doing such short-cruises from Tampa, or Enchantment, another Vision-Class ship, or Empress. 

Enchantment to Tampa, Brilliance taking over the Baltimore cruises - why not? 🙄

Interesting what the future cruise consultant thinks - currently I couldn't imagine any ship, because all of them in 2021 are already allocated. Maybe there's still a tin chance to see Adventure on such an itinerary in fall 2021, but actually I'd expect her in dry dock during that period.

IMHO the only chance for that is a second ship from Southampton in 2021, which could do such an itinerary after her Europe season in early fall. But it still seems to be unclear, if there will be a second ship from Southampton or not in 2021...

To counter that point, I wouldn’t even consider a cruise from Tampa if it were on Majesty or Empress. I’d gladly go for Brilliance though.
 

Not everyone can do 12 night Baltic cruises and Royal clearly sees the potential for profit maximization by offering more 3/4/5 night cruises and putting larger ships on those itineraries. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see more of Brilliance’s itineraries going to CocoCay from Tampa - I know they already changed some.
