I think it's a matter of time before Singapore closes its port as well. Maybe not in the next week, but sometime soon.

There is no reason for Singapore closing it's ports. They are doing everything to get the situation in control and do not allow any travelers from China mainland and Hong Kong to enter since February 1st, hence in a few weeks they should see a drastic reduction or not even have any further new cases.

Regarding Spectrum, maybe she could be used instead of Explorer out of Civitavechia.

Mailand Chinese and its people from their territories doesn't matter anymore. It's spreading locally.

At least you are not having new people entering Singapore brining the virus. Now it's about getting the local spreading under control.

How long do y'all expect this to last? Do you think into the summer season, or that's too far out?

The R0, mortality rate, and true number of infected are not yet known.  China did not bulldoze highways to isolate communities or start building field hospitals because they thought this would be only as bad as the flu.  The estimates that I trust are R0 just over 4 and mortality rate of 2%.  One major difficulty is China often puts an underlying condition as COD.  So when someone gets the flu and dies of that, but they have a heart condition, the heart condition is the COD.  In the US and other western countries, the COD would be recorded as the flu.  This is one reason why the flu is recorded as killing so few people in China.  I’d be more interested in how many people have died from all causes in wuhan over the past six months in graphic format.

tldr. Dunno

I trust they will not shuffle further ships around as this creates additional high costs and chaos.

Yep, I think if they were to move her anywhere she would either be there alone or in addition to another ship. Moving other ships this late when they don’t need too seems like it could create unnecessary problems

Odyssey is now booked in Southampton October 23-25, 2020.

It will be interesting to see if they do a sailing or if it’s just on show for tours for local press and special guests. It could also be a supply stop as well.

If a port stop between there and Miami were found then that would definitely suggest a revenue TA.

If Spectrum moves out of Asia, they'll have to do refurbishments to better reflect the market just like Quantum when she moved to Shanghai but the opposite. Spectrum really is purpose-built for the Chinese market and would suffer in foreign markets in its current state.

That’s why I think they would bump quantum instead of spectrum.

Spectrum can do Singapore and send quantum where ever.

I went on the Duai to Singapore leg of its positioning trip and apart from turning the Diamond lounge into a casino, which took two days, and a bit of Chinese writing here and there, I can't see how more than a quick dry dock would be needed

That's 11 days before its first official voyage

It looks unlikely that it will be a revenue trip from Southampton to Florida if it's just 10 days before its first cruise

I for one would be up for a 10 night sea day only cruise. I am doing the 31 Oct 21 harmony cruise precisely due to the fact there is only one port. 😁

Most probably it will be an empty TA. Because usually you have a couple of days for Travel Agents, and you have to baptize the ship before her maiden voyage.

I think this will happen too.

In a recent dry-dock for Quantum which took 1 month, Royal Caribbean said that the dry-dock will make Quantum cater more to the "international" market. Spectrum is design for Asia, hence she will probably stay here.

In the event that Spectrum gets sent to Europe ( could be a possibility to test whether the market love the Quantum Ultra class) and Asia returns to normal , Royal will just send her straight back to China.

Whether or not they make any changes to Spectrum will decide on how long they anticipate pulling her out of that market.  If it’s under a year they may not make any changes at all or just very minor ones that could be done on board by crew.  Pulling her out will end up increasing the capacity in another area and close in sailings will be cheap regardless of what they do to her.  It does not make any sense to invest money in a drydock to change her and then have to change her back for a short term redeployment.

Deployment flyer updated:

http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Deployment/2021_2022/19069859_Deployment_Opening_Schedule_20212022_Phase2

China Phase 2 pushed back from Feb 24 to Mar 9.

Short cruises pushed to Mar 9 as well. IIRC, they were supposed to be Mar 2.

Shame it’s not in at the same time as Anthem, would have made for a great photo!

I agree.  Remember the 3 sisters photoed off the coast of Florida.  I wished they had welcomed the Symphony and had 4. Oh well.  I went on the Harmony the week after the sisters met. Lots of top brass still on the ship that week since it was the full first 7 day cruise.
