I did freedom once. I think she’s about 5 years newer than the Glory. The main thing I have to remember is not to go out on the lanai.

What’s wrong with the lanai?

Well that spring forward crap would certainly suck. I’ll have to keep that in mind when looking for a cruise, as I wasn’t able to cruise this year and am thinking about doing one in the spring of next year.  My kids have been out of school for so long that I don’t even know when school breaks are. I certainly don’t want to get caught cruising during spring break, summer break, Christmas break, ground hog day break, or whatever else kind of breaks schools have these days. Living in Cleveland, I don’t get a lot of hot weather months, so when I cruise I like it to be hot 🔥

In general you’ll be able to tell the spring break by the prices. But in Texas the last week of feb is safe. The first week of March Waco seems to be out but it’s not enough to be noticeable. Then that next week all of Texas is out and the prices skyrocket.

Looking forward to another Saint Greg review.  Our preferred port is also New Orleans.  We are also lamenting the current selection of ships.  Hopefully you find that the Conquest class is holding up.  We have a 5-night on the Valor in November.

One big plus for Valor, at least in my book, is she has a Red Frog Pub. Still hope one day all Conquest class ship have this feature.

Yeah it was surprising to me that Valor has that and Glory doesn’t yet Glory is doing the longer cruises.

We’ve been over 100 most of this week. It’s 89

at 11pm.

I like visiting my family in Wisconsin in the summer 60’s-70’s....80’s “it’s soo hot!” Then they come down here and wear shorts when it’s in the 50’s.

Let me toss this out there.....I have caught wind of the fact that one of the many fb groups for my cruise plans to do a shot glass exchange at the alchemy bar at 4pm on embarkation day.

Apparently these shot glasses contain no alcohol and may never contain alcohol.

This news disturbs me as an alchemy bar enthusiast. There are very few seats available at the alchemy bar on a conquest class ship and I’m concerned those seats may be filled with people who don’t drink alcohol but instead collect shot glasses filled with no alcohol.

Welcome back Saint Greg! I love your live reviews. I live in GA and travel mainly out of the FL ports or NOLA. First week of December is my  favorite week for the same reasons. Great temperatures and fewer kids. Much cheaper prices too. Looking forward to all the food and drink porn. Enjoy!!🍸

Thanks! I cruised the first week of December last year and I’m doing it again this year. I really liked the Christmas theme. Even though I had been on the same ship a few months earlier, it seemed totally different with all of the Christmas activities.

Since it’s during football season, the scheduling has to work out for me. This is two years in a row they have the Saints vs. Falcons on thanksgiving night so no game the first weekend of December.

It's been a long six months. I'm ready for a break.

My last four cruises have been Vista, Dream, Dream, Breeze so I can't say I'm super excited that the ship is Glory. I'm going from the newer, prettier ship to an older, wore out one with less features...And it costs about the same money. This is exactly why I won't get married!

Yay! I got so excited to see you start your review. Then I read that Sid & Jamman will have reviews soon too really made my day lol. I have 48 days until my Conquest cruise, so these reviews will help pass the time.

Yes.  That's one of the reasons we booked the Valor.  Previous Carnival sailing was on the Dream.  And I agree with Saint Greg that the Dream really could use a Red Frog Pub.  We had fun, but it always felt like there was a little something missing in regards to drinking venues.  After going on an RC cruise with more defined and self contained drinking venues (e.g. a pub, a sports bar, etc), I realized how much I liked being "inside" a venue and not feeling like I'm hanging out in a hallway that happens to have a bar.  Also found out that we like being in a place where I can drink and kids can play games.  Red Frog Pub seems to check all these boxes nicely.  Looking forward to it.  My only concern is that I expect it to be crowded.  Bummed to hear that Glory doesn't have a Pub as it's currently our 7-night option out of NO and decent chance we end up on her at some point.

Is that when Alchemy opens on embarkation day?  Hopefully they get bored looking at their shot glassed without alcohol and move on quickly.  I'm assuming this is right after muster.  Just make sure you head straight there.  Hopefully your muster station is close.

Alchemy opens when the muster drill lets out. So probably around then or maybe just before. I’m just picturing a bunch of people from a fb group meeting for the first time...chit chatting. Who knows how long they could linger.

There is an exterior deck on the Lobby level... Hardly anyone ever out there, and close to the waterline...

Yeah I know what you’re talking about. I want to say that is or was a smoking area.

I’m more taking about the deck 5 one where I’ve stepped right out from the coffee shop and drank coffee for my last 28 cruise days.

I love the Christmas decorations too. Kinda weird to come back to the ship from the beach and see the trees, lol, but it’s a great vibe. I’m looking forward to football season too! Rise Up!!

Cozumel

This time my plan is the Atlantis Submarine Excursion. It has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. I began preparing for this excursion with the glass bottom boat tour in Roatan last December. The glass bottom boat didn’t bother me so I’m ready to go a little deeper–100 feet to be exact.

I’m planning on using onboard credit for this excursion so I’m booking through Carnival and I have to wait until I get on board. Hopefully they don’t sell out between now and then. It’s a $100 excursion.

Hi, Greg! We did the Atlantis excursion this past June and really enjoyed it. It was a nice break from Paradise Beach, which is what we usually do in Cozumel.

The Dream is up next for us in March, and I'm really looking forward to it after your reviews. 🙂

You’re definitely going to want to check out my February Dream review then.
