Most surprising thing seen on a cruise

My nephew and I were walking down the hallway away from our cabin while the Carnival Miracle was anchored in the harbor at Cabo San Lucas. From about 25 feet behind us we could hear a loud woman saying X rated things and we thought she was yelling to us. We both pulled up short simultaneously to turn around to see who was saying such suggestive things and inviting us to join her to 'play' as she put it.

It turns out she was drunkenly talking to the murals on the wall of the hall and not us. It was only early afternoon, too.

On my cruise on the Glory a few years ago, there was a little boy (maybe 10?) in the serenity hot tub. He was wearing a snorkel mask and would dive under the water and stare at peoples chests. He muttered “boobies” and giggled a few times. No one said anything at first when he had just been sitting their calmly , but as soon as that happened I ran and grabbed someone. Even though he was a child it was still kinda creepy.

This is a mundane post. Not about people or their actions. Growing up out in the country of North Texas I had not seen blue water before. All I had ever seen was brown water in our stock tanks(small little lakes dug all over our ranch for watering our horses and cattle ), or the greenish/brownish waters around Galveston. I was mesmerised by the beauty of the cobalt blue of the water. I think that was the reason we spent a lot of time on our balcony as we did.

I totally get this. "My" ocean is off of the Jersey shore.

A lady died next to us...

We were on the Dream a few years ago out of New Orleans, second day of cruise. We were on the smoking deck 11 watching a movie. Next to us at the table near the seaside railing, was an older lady on Oxygen, smoking away, fell off the chair, screaming of her family ensued, crew came rapidly, got all others out of the section, sheeted the area up, finally took her out in an hour or so. Anyhow, next day, her companion and family were partying on the same deck. Yes, she did pass away, did not leave ship at the next port, but stayed and got off back in New Orleans.

having known someone who died of lung cancer I'd like to think that the cruise was a dying wish "last hurrah" for her.

This was on the Inspiration back in 2004 when I was 16. It was the final game of the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals and it was Tampa vs Calgary, we had just sailed out of Tampa the day before and it was a very close series. The night we left was 6/6/04 and I remember a bunch of Canadian people walking around in Flames jerseys talking about how they were gonna take the cup and win it big. Well this pissed off some people from Florida and a small fight broke out at first on the promenade deck...then it grew larger and larger as drunk people were coming in from everywhere until security had to break it up and arrest a few people!

That or when we were docked at either Cozumel or Grand Cayman a bunch of college age chicks flashed the next boat and my friends and I happened to be right next to them enjoying the view!

Actually it was my very first cruise on the Carnival Conquest when it was first in New Orleans. We were cruising in May around when the colleges had let out for summer.

I was out on deck for first sea day and a group of LSU students decided that the back deck above the aft pool would be the topless deck.

Because, you know, can't have tan lines...

On my last cruise on the Freedom, I saw a female passenger strutting around in a tiny bikini and a thong. It was very obvious she had some cosmetic adjustments done too, so you can imagine it was distracting to say the least. Probably not the best attire for a family cruise....

About 5 yrs ago DH and I were on an Australian cruise (RCCL). We had a corner Aft Balcony. One night we were woken up by a knock on the door.  When I opened the door, there stood a Ships Officer and 2 Security guys. They asked if they could please access our balcony. They explained that 2 decks above our room someone was threatening to jump overboard! Of course I let them in. I watched them (from inside my room) use a harness thing that attached to something above and then one guy climbed up. Eventually the other 2 came back through our room, thanked us and left. The next day we got a called from guest services thanking us once again and offering us a free dinner at the steakhouse for us and our travel companions. They did says that the passenger that tried to jump had gone off his meds and would be brought to a hospital at the next port. It was so weird!

We had booked the Chef's table and by the time we got to the main course the couple next to us was extremely intoxicated. They got into a knock down fist fight in the middle of the dining room. Everyone was stunned,  the dining room went completely silent. Security eventually intervened and they were escorted from the dining room.

On another cruise we had been enjoying the Serenity deck  and we were half way to Hawaii when a passenger calmly took off his shoes, stepped onto the rail and jumped off the back of the ship. Someone quickly threw over the life ring which activated a GPS locator. It took the ship an hour to slow down and turn around. When we returned to the area it took another hour to locate him, he tried to swim away from the rescuers when he was spotted. Once we reached Hawaii he was handed over to the authorities.

I don't remember the ship but there was an elderly lady in a motorized scooter driving way too fast on the Lido Deck.  There was a small incline ramp that she hit full speed.  The scooter flipped over backwards and off she went flying.  Her husband walked over to her and said "How many times do I have to tell you that it's not funny when you do that."

DW and I were on the Celebrity Infinity.  I was napping and wife was just getting out of the shower about 2 pm.  All of a sudden our door opened very fast.  5 security Officers came rushing in yelling are we alright?  We were shocked, like holy crap shocked.  We said yes, they then all just backed out and left.  Apparently there was a medical emergency on our floor and someone gave the wrong room.

Two gentlemen who brought a large fully dressed stuffed teddy bear to dinner every night. It’s clothes changed according to the dress code for the evening. It had a chair pulled out to be seated with great ceremony by the waiters, and a napkin spread onto its lap. It had a place laid, but never ate anything.🙁 It appeared at the bar later on it’s own stool.

I'm sure the staff offered him food but of course he was stuffed already.😎

That is odd!  There must be a very interesting back story on this.
