Cruise a holic Posted February 17, 2020 #378 Share Posted February 17, 2020 (edited) We have sailed in sky suites and Royal suites- when in the lounge, I do not recall any special service boarding- on Royal if you are in a "big" suite you have a genie meeting you- that is very different then the Celebrity suite experience- I must say service for suite guests is excellent on Celebrity, regardless of the suite- Actually, we have had better butlers sometimes in a sky suite- vs a mediocre butler in a royal suite- Edited February 17, 2020 by Cruise a holic

Everyone pays for the cabin they want and in return receive what is expected on their cruise. Life is short. Just enjoy! Rare hcat Posted February 17, 2020 #380 Share Posted February 17, 2020 The issue at hand is what is expected. If I book Aqua class, I expect to dine in BLU...no lines, no beepers, no crowds and no one else having priority. We started in AQ class to escape the din and hurried ambiance of the MDR ....not so much anymore...

Except that, veering back to the OP, Aqua guests "expect" to dine in Blu without a wait because of suite guests, that is what they paid for. And it's Celebrity's fault. Make suite passengers stay in Luminae, make AQ passengers stay in Blu, make everyone else go to the MDR. And everyone has access to the specialties and buffet. How simple is that? We ate at Luminae but could order from the Main Menu as well as from the Blu Menu. We were fine eating in Luminae, not taking up any space in Blu and having what we preferred from any menu. The biggest "problem" was having to wait for a table for 4 for dinner one night in Luminae as we went to an early show and when we showed up at about 8:15 PM there were a number of other gusts waiting. So we had a 15 minute wait. The maître de seemed relatively flustered but we were fine and all had a good time. Edge doesn’t have the MDR option. We have enough options to dine elsewhere on board and this restaurant should be for Aqua guests only. IMO....this thread has been going on too long...... Happy and Safe Travels, Pam THis is my comment from almost 1 week ago. LOL! Again, everyone enjoy their cruise. Pam

TeeRick Posted February 18, 2020 #389 Share Posted February 18, 2020 This topic is going in circles at this point. Summary of possible solutions. (In my order of preference- my opinion only): 1) Make Blu exclusive to Aqua guests as originally intended. 2) Expand Blu to accommodate more Aqua guests - particularly if Celebrity is adding more Aqua cabins. 3) If suite guests are allowed by the rules in non-peak times, then Celebrity should strictly enforce their own rules. 4) Communicate the rules and restrictions on board to suite guests in advance for their possible dining in Blu. 5) Offer the Blu menu in Luminae (non-Edge class ships)

In our experience this one is definitely being done. We have yet to be allowed to eat at Blu (we book CS and RS). So for anyone thinking that every suite guest can "just ask" and be allowed to dine in Blu, that's just not the case.

JFontaine Posted February 19, 2020 #393 Share Posted February 19, 2020 I said above, a week, a month? ago, that there must be something wrong with Luminae if suite people in Blu are the source of overcrowding. I'm on Edge now and there are problems with Luminae, from waits to be seated as the hostess repeatedly leaves her station to seat guests and chat with them, to hour long waits for food, to improperly cooked meals. I'm a Luminae and Edge veteran (ok to use that word?) and the problems are clear. I've raised the issue to the Food and Beverage manager. We wont eat in Blu, but last night the dining room was half empty at peak time on 'chic' night - and the problems persisted. We are ordering off the menu, nothing very special (hold the sauce type of requests).
mafig Posted February 19, 2020 #394 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Very disappointing to hear. We'll be on Edge in 5 weeks and were very much looking forward to Luminae and our first suite on Celebrity.
JFontaine Posted February 19, 2020 #395 Share Posted February 19, 2020 I think some of it is very fixable. Restaurant manager seems to have just left on vacation this week, and apparently theres a new person cooking. I hope that by bringing attention to this at a high level it might help. Voicing concerns in a polite but assertive way is the best way to improve service/standards and in our experience Celebrity appreciates feedback as it is happening during the cruise. Hopefully management will look at the issues and respond quickly...not only improving the remainder of your cruise but those on the next... The only cruise we ever had bad service on with Celebrity (a long time ago) was our first...Both our room attendant and butler were new to their jobs and at the Elite cocktail event you could have died of thirst! I do think that these service glitches are often when there is a significant staff turn around. We found out towards the end of our cruise that there had been a significant number of staff that had been transferred to the next new S ship... Sincere best wishes for an improving experience...

Uppity Posted February 20, 2020 #399 Share Posted February 20, 2020 I was just recently on the Solstice, and could not have been more thrilled with the service, menu and food. I think with the differences between vessels, not to mention the staff rotations and the popularity of different destinations, it is almost impossible to draw any reasonable conclusions. Rare hcat Posted February 20, 2020 #400 Share Posted February 20, 2020 There should be consistency and quality control.....from ship to ship. When we were in AQ Class on EDGE , we had one or two nights where food took over an hr to come out.,.not acceptable....
