For Select fares where you can choose your cabin a specialist should be able to give you a lot more cabin/ship information etc than a high street TA. With the well known north Midlands on line TA the balance is only requested 7 days early, and even that can be later if you request it, as I just did for a Princess cruise. However if booking a saver fare and not requesting a specific cabin the added knowledge that a TA possesses is not really required.
kalos Posted April 11, 2023 #44728 Share Posted April 11, 2023 Adding to what John has said and you decide to book direct with P&O , then be sure to screen shot the TA 's price and get P&O to price match it for you.

I don't know how I am going to react to it. It could take 2 hrs. Snce the heart attack (10 yrs now) I cannot bear anything near my face. It has been known before apparently, so an ordinary MRI is a no no for me. Just have to spend the children's inheritance. We are throwing the book at why my legs suddenly won't move, and the groin agony, and have finally found one thing on ct, today is to check everything else. Hanging on the phone to check they know about the metal ankle before we travel. I am scared or being confined in the machine, but I'll have a glass of something nice beforehand. There is always an upside... a lovely long lunch in London first and a lovely son in law who loves driving in London and will take us anywhere and a lovely daughter who may say it's not worth going to London without the theatre 🤣😍😼 My mrs had an MRI for her knee and the machine went up to her chest. She panicked a bit so they gave her headphones with music which helped a bit.PS is your SIL a black cab driver,I can't think of any other reason for liking London.Bloody cameras and wardens hiding on every corner to catch you out, lol.
indiana123 Posted April 11, 2023 #44730 Share Posted April 11, 2023 This one is an open and upright one so I can see in front of me and the ceiling. They will do lying, sitting and standing which is probably why it could take 2 hrs. Lady Brian will know how I feel, but I will be a brave soldier🤣

When I decided to open my eyes, it was not anything like as near as I had thought to my face. This did make a huge difference to how I felt. I don't know if you have had any or many already, but familiarity does make it easier, IMO. It will help enormously that you have such great support, and will have a lovely time otherwise! We are all crossing fingers for you.

I am not as bad now, try closing your eyes as you are going in. I try plan and think about my next cruise. Rare Sarah1974 Posted April 11, 2023 #44735 Share Posted April 11, 2023 Many thanks for all the advice on here earlier today. I have booked with P&O directly - price the same as one online cruise company and the other company could not offer a balcony for 3 people, only a window at much greater cost. Is there an app I need to download? I've not cruised since 2019 and out of practice! 1

I have had several MRIs now, and it does get easier with time. Having to wear a mask (due to the pandemic) with my head encased in a cage was the only time I didn't felt comfortable! I normally just close my eyes, listen to the music (if they play any) and plan my next holiday. What I dislike is a voice telling me that the next scan is going to last ... minutes🥴

Beckett Posted April 11, 2023 #44739 Share Posted April 11, 2023 @indiana123 I signed on too late to wish you luck for today and by the time you read this it will all be over. So I hope it went well and you found the upright MRI less claustrophobic than the original "tunnel of terror" arrangement. I remember from working at the surgery how many patients were totally freaked out by the mere thought of an MRI. Fortunately the arrival of the newer 'open' scanners totally diluted the worry for many. Do let us know how it went and hopefully you can enjoy a lovely peaceful evening. Very best wishes. MRI's are not the most pleasant of experiences so I understand your worries. I had one during lockdown which I thought I would be ok with as I'd had one before, but hadn't anticipated that I would have to keep my mask on which made it more uncomfortable! I'm pleased you had something to look forward to before and afterwards though! Edited April 11, 2023 by CarlaMarie

indiana123 Posted April 11, 2023 #44744 Share Posted April 11, 2023 Got home from London just after nine tonight. Too late for the theatre but did manage a carvery. Well that's that over then. The mri took just over two hours. OH was allowed in the room but as they decided on an open machine and not using the upright position I couldn't see him. I felt I was in the washing machine😀with all the different noises and vibrations but it was fine. I am a fidget but knew I had to do this as it is the last ditch effort to recover some mobility and they thanked me afterwards for keeping still for the whole two hours (16 scans). They asked about music and I jokingly said Barry Manilow. They said OK. Poor OH and the two radiographers had to endure two hours of him. I laughed. I bet they were pleased to see the back of me! To anyone who is claustrophobic or like me after an event cannot have anything over the face (Heart attack in my case) I would say if you can possibly afford it it is worth every penny. None in the NHS here in the south. Brian sorry I didn't reply to you this morning.. Son in law is attached somehow to Border Force re computers and drives in loads of foreign cities when on call. He takes it all in his stride, it was us passengers who shut their eyes. Horrendous traffic.
