For many years we spent summers up there and hated to come home. Next month we’re spending a week in Sapphire Valley NC which is in a really pretty area. Lots of waterfalls and, of course, the white squirrels in Brevard. My parents’ summer house is in Hendersonville and had apple orchards around it and mountains to look at. We sold it after they died because we spent so much time in Maine and cruising. I guess, looking back, we should have kept it. Should really be pretty up there in Sapphire Valley I should think! 🙂 We have been doing the dreaded drive up to north eastern Maine with the "land yacht" for years, mostly because we could take our fur babies with us. Now...last fur baby passed into kitty cat heaven two years ago, then Covid hit last year. Sooo..this year we flew up, rented an SUV, and doing rental homes. Has been working out well so far, though a pricier way to go....then again...if we sell the land yacht...not so bad after all. 😉 Edited July 19, 2021 by island lady

Eric planted this in dirt after roots appeared. Put in dirt before we left for the shore in june and not much is happening. It is stunted...into too small of a pot. Get a pot about 5 times that big, fill with planting soil mixed well with time release (granular) fertilizer and repot. Then watch it get big! 😉

I can remember my mother splitting them to make baked stuffed lobsters. The process always bothered me. It doesn't phase my brother in the least. Honestly, I'd rather eat pizza. LOL...I was nervous doing my first steamed lobster, horror stories of "screaming lobster" etc. Didn't happen. Get 2 inches of water boiling (clean sea water is best), put lobster into pot upside down claws first, cover tightly for 20 minutes. Used to it now. 😉 No worse than the cows, chickens, pigs suffer. Actually maybe a bit nicer way to go in a sauna than a slaughter house. 😄

We’re having our driveway replaced - date unknown. It took several weeks just to get 3 different paving co’s out to give estimates. We finally chose one, but are now in the 12-16 weeks waiting period for them to get us in. All 3 estimated roughly the same timeframe. Long waits for everything around here.

Keksie Posted July 19, 2021 #23136 Share Posted July 19, 2021 We are back from our trip to South Dakota. Had a great time, saw a lot of animals and beautiful scenery. We won't be flying again any time soon and are thinking our next adventure will be in the Great Smokey Mountains since that is close enough to drive. Does anyone have any do not miss, tips or tricks for that area.

Two of my favourite versions; can you get everything without a cart or, can get get out with a bill under $100. Rarely win either, but upon occasion it is the second option. Made a trip there yesterday. It was without a cart as I only needed one thing....a whole beef tenderloin for last nights dinner. Previously they were always around $125 to $135, this was even as recent as a few months back. I guess summer bbq'ing season has driven up demand as the least expensive one I could find was $192 with most at around $

My version of our first day with no restrictions: In the gym first thing, normally have to wear masks walking around inside the building but not when working out, today half were wearing masks and half not. My PT didn't wear her mask Later in the hairdressers, some as when we had restrictions. Temperature checks and masks for everyone. Didn't go shopping, but from what I could see people were putting masks on to go into shops As of mid June, when the "masks indoor required" was lifted, we're experiencing a huge surge in cases (from 4 to more than 1000 per day) due to the Delta variant. 40% of the positives are Pfizer fully vaccinated. No surge in hospitalizations and death. Indoor masks required again. Powers that be quite clueless.... and the population is like "oh, no, not again, been there, done that"....

Because of this my husband and I will restrict our socialising from next Friday 1) That's what we have done even when the "masks indoor required" was lifted.... DIY and not rely on others.... 2) Great thinking -- our in-laws are (hopefully) travelling to Iceland on the 25th, for a long awaited pre-Covid organized trip to Iceland. Only fully vaxxed people (a retirees group) and a direct flight chartered by the Travel Agents. Nevertheless, they're self isolating from the 15th, not willing to take any chances.... 34 minutes ago, sgmn said: Just heard from the venue, no masks, and dancing allowed, yippee Excellent news, double yippee !!!!
