We had a wild lightning storm come through on Saturday night. Dad was looking out the kitchen windows to watch the lightning, when he suddenly realised his ladies of the night were flowering again (bit out of focus but gives you an idea of how many he has)

Three more flowered tonight

Pretty. A bonus flowering!

I finally got caught up on this thread.  I was preoccupied last week because of things going on.

It started on Monday.  We watched our grandkids, because they had the day off from school. Our daughter was at Cleveland Clinic to have a day filled with many tests.   After all the chemo and radiation, she finally completed her eight cycles of oral chemo last month.  It was a long day, and before she got home, she already had some results that they found a spot on her lung and liver that needed further evaluation.  Monday is a sleepless night.

They checked around, and the Cleveland Clinic in Canton, Ohio would be able to do the additional testing on Wednesday.   Tuesday, they call and tell her that they didn’t think insurance would cover the test.  Ok, we give her 5k to pay for the testing and have her keep the appointment. Tuesday is another sleepless night.

Wednesday, I drive her to Canton.  Prep and testing did not go as smoothly as it should have, but they finally got going with it around 5pm.  Drive back to Pennsylvania, and it was another sleepless night for everyone.

Thursday morning, and Susan and I were already talking about canceling our cruise in two weeks, depending on the results.  Thursday afternoon, the call comes. I am glad they prefaced their call with “It’s good news!”  No sign of cancer.

You can’t imagine the weight that was immediately lifted from our shoulders when we heard that news.   I know many of our friends here said a prayer for her and her family over the past couple years, and I thank you all for that.  I guess you could say that this is our Christmas miracle.

Truly a Christmas miracle. Absolutely glorious news!

Owen has been called up to the rep team, last week and again this weekend. They had 5 players each get a 5 game suspension for a line brawl against another team.  Then the next game they lost a player to a broken collarbone, so they were down from 15 to 9 players. That’s when Owen got the call.  He and Lisa signed a contract to play up, no money😉, but he does get the experience.

The first game last week they won with 10 players VS a team with 15.  During that game another player got a 3 game suspension for a high hit.  They were leading 4-0, and a play that was just dumb. He literally played for his team, then the ice was cleaned and less than 10 minutes later he was playing for the rep team.  Owen got an assist in that game.  I will add this is the team that we, and others thought he should have made.  Those others are kids and parents that are on the team.  After these games parents have said, why isn’t Owen on our team and we just shrug our shoulders. A few of the parents have kids on both the rep and Owen’s actual team. We have no answer and yet he fits right in. 🤷‍♂️

As it stands he has already been asked to play for them on Wednesday night, and in a tournament on Friday.  After that all but two of the players will be back, so they will no longer need his help. It is good experience, and we have also said to Owen that it shows the head coach that he made the wrong decision in September.

Last night he had 2 hours between games, but we had to drive 1 hour and 10 minutes from one arena to the next one. We left home at 4:40 and didn’t get home until just after midnight. He won with the rep team first and then lost 3-0 with his team. Owen had more energy than his own team, after playing in a game where he had to double shift hours before.

Celebrating the rep win yesterday.  They scored 2 goals in the last 1:20 seconds to tie it up and then win. 10 players VS 15.  They beat the second placed team, and their team is the 5th placed team out of 13 in the division. They played great.

Lisa and I had dinner from the cantina at the arena before the first game started. I had cashew chicken stir fry and Lisa had chicken satay and a salad. Have to love when arena food goes from Thai food to arena classics of burgers and fries.

You have probably seen it a lot closer than I have but in my humble experience with Canadian minor hockey, there is so much politics involved in rep selection.  Glad Owen got a chance to show how wrong they were.

Just got home , flight from Houston is less than a hour but was surprised they offered us a third double Bloody Mary, very unusual but we passed. Shelagh loved the tv show desperate housewives of Dallas which got cancelled a couple of years ago and one of them was seating behind us in first class, I told her just say hello and tell her how much you enjoyed the show , she said no and told me not to say anything, of course I paid no attention to her , the star was very appreciative of the compliment and thanked us . Cruise was good put wasn’t that impressed with harmony, we will most likely return to MSc yacht club for our second cruise next year either out of my favorite city New York or Florida, let me know if anyone has harmony questions. Greg I will post the medicine that stopped my feet from looking like clowns feet shortly, my size 15 feet look big enough even when not swollen.

Thank you I look forward to hearing about what works.

How was debarkation. I have been told by the company that I contracted for my shuttle to and from Galveston that Debarkation is messed up because all documents are being checked manually by customs.

Getting on and off was fantastic super quick , we have the slight advantage of suites but everything was quick , photo recognized, no passports needed , it was a breeze. Funny seeing people walking on when we were walking off at 9am.

On a girl’s cruise I was the victim of the screaming demons.

Attributed to the ice I had in port.

Now very careful.

Gotcha ! We traveled south ,  a medical doctor, a nurse , a PhD in science and a chemist and with all of those microbiology classes 3/4 of us got sick . I was tested two weeks post return for parasites so I’m not enthusiastic about eating or drinking anything off the ship on our cruise next year .

You can be careful and educated and still expose oneself to microbes.

Thank you George. I will consult with my doctor about this. Does the CK stand for anything in particular?

Not sure it’s on label I got from cvs , but definitely ask your doctor, definitely I much more pleasant cruise without swollen feet and ankles. Hopefully you be able to have a great cruise on Beyond.

A company recommended to us called High Rollers by Shugg.  They have been really accommodating and have great communication.  It just seems that they may have over exaggerated the debarkation problems at Galveston.

Thank you all.  I hope I didn’t miss anyone, because I was reading and typing as Susan drove in our travels today.

And @Ozark_Kid John, I missed the part where you said you had an outside chance of getting into a clinical trial. I certainly hope you are able to.

Early this morning, before we traveled for a family get together, we dropped off these Angel Tree gifts.

We were buying for a young, 8 year old girl.  Most kids may ask for the latest toys or games, but this girl wanted a warm coat, and socks, and shoes, and clothes.
