Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Greg, my daughter wants to know if your dogs shed a lot.  She really wants one.  I told her yours are really special!

They do shed but average . We do brush ours and get them groomed every 6 weeks which helps a lot. What makes up for any shedding is their loving nature. They are lap dogs and are very loving. They love their owners and love spending time with them.

@FromSea2ShiningSea  Hi Helen and Marty.  Hope all is well with you.🥰😘

Maryann, you are so kind.  Thank you for checking up on M & me.  We are doing fine.  I just took a break from CC for a while to focus on some projects at home.  Once in a while, I would skim through real quick the many pages on Dani’s thread and that’s about all I could do.

There are still so many pictures from our Panama Canal cruise that I wanted to post.  I hope to be able to post some before going on our next cruise in a week on Harmony out of Galveston.

I finally got caught up on this thread.  I was preoccupied last week because of things going on.

It started on Monday.  We watched our grandkids, because they had the day off from school. Our daughter was at Cleveland Clinic to have a day filled with many tests.   After all the chemo and radiation, she finally completed her eight cycles of oral chemo last month.  It was a long day, and before she got home, she already had some results that they found a spot on her lung and liver that needed further evaluation.  Monday is a sleepless night.

They checked around, and the Cleveland Clinic in Canton, Ohio would be able to do the additional testing on Wednesday.   Tuesday, they call and tell her that they didn’t think insurance would cover the test.  Ok, we give her 5k to pay for the testing and have her keep the appointment. Tuesday is another sleepless night.

Wednesday, I drive her to Canton.  Prep and testing did not go as smoothly as it should have, but they finally got going with it around 5pm.  Drive back to Pennsylvania, and it was another sleepless night for everyone.

Thursday morning, and Susan and I were already talking about canceling our cruise in two weeks, depending on the results.  Thursday afternoon, the call comes. I am glad they prefaced their call with “It’s good news!”  No sign of cancer.

You can’t imagine the weight that was immediately lifted from our shoulders when we heard that news.   I know many of our friends here said a prayer for her and her family over the past couple years, and I thank you all for that.  I guess you could say that this is our Christmas miracle.

Mark, this just brought tears to my eyes.  Those are the two best words to hear: “No Cancer”.  I’m so happy for you, daughter and family.  Now you can all go celebrate and enjoy your cruise and the Christmas Holidays.  What a blessing!

Our harmony cruise did have a very cute medium sized dog who we saw in suite lounge and other restaurants, had barked a couple of times but it was extremely friendly (service dog) I asked if he went on many cruises and was told he was diamond plus 😁, from what I understand cruise line charges a couple of hundred a day for a service animal.

There is no way our dogs could become service dogs as we usually end up serving them. 😉

So good to hear from you, Helen!  Glad all is well with you and Marty.  Have a wonderful time on your cruise next week.  Wishing you smooth sailing!

When life gets less hectic (is there ever such a time?)  we'd love to see your Panama Canal cruise pictures.  Your pictures are always stunning.  Perhaps after the holidays are behind us.    In the meantime, Bon Voyage!!!!🛳️

I hope you didn't break it @George C

The Aqua show was just totally amazing best I have ever seen , Grease was lots of fun also. Wife bought some popcorn and there was a little girl about 5 asking what would happen if they ran out of popcorn the lady selling said she would cry , my wife said same thing , the little girl then said that there was many people without any food and we shouldn’t cry about popcorn .

My oldest Daughter just told me today that Matt Yee passed away they loved his shows in the Schooner bar.

Our friends just called us this evening to tell us that. He had liver cancer, for about 11 months. We loved Matt Yee and spent some time with him. Our friends spent more time with him and his partner. That is very sad. He was such a great guy, and so funny, friendly and entertaining. He will be sorely missed. One of the best Schooner Bar and comedy show entertainers ever! 😌

I think I’ve mentioned before that my dad was a competitive kayaker for decades.  One of the many races he competed in was the Hawkesbury Classic - 111km from Windsor to Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River.  Dad has raced it 5 times - 3 in a K1 (single), once in a K2 (2 kayakers in a double kayak and once in K4 (yep- four paddlers in one kayak).  The race usually took dad 8hrs and a lot of it is in the pitch black.

So, his wish was to do the Riverboat Postman Cruise on the Hawkesbury River and see where he paddled.   The pandemic cancelled the group bookings that his kayak club tried to make a couple of times so today, my brother and I took time off work

and we took him on this cruise.  We enjoyed it as much as he did.

Captain provides a nice commentary.  Tea,coffee & anzac biscuits served for morning tea. Ploughman’s type lunch provided with bar open for purchases.  10am-1.00pm Monday to Friday. Easy to get to via train from Sydney CBD. You board opposite the Brooklyn train station. Whilst the primary reason for the cruise is for the delivery of mail to the residents on the riverfront who have no road access, it’s a popular cruise for local groups & tourists.  Boat is spacious with two outside decks for enjoying the views. and large indoor cabin for seated indoor eating etc. Recommend this one if you are ever in Sydney and have a day spare after exploring the city & harbour.

Just switching over the cable TV to (You tube TV) and Cell Phones to (Verizon)

Have you looked into Google Fi for cellular service?

I switched to them from Verizon last year and I'm only paying ~$35/month including fees and taxes. (I don't use a lot of data, as I have wifi at home and at work, so that plan works well for me.)

Sorry Carol, if this is for me - which photo?  7th one down?  If so, those are rocks

@Coralc I posted so many photos I’ve confused myself.  I think you are referring to the photo with the the guy in white shorts & black t-shirt (& girl). they are stumps for the bridge across the water.

In the US, it’s a cul-de-sac (borrowed from the French) or a dead end, which is purely American

We use cul-de-sac too, as a noun, such as 'that road is a cul-de-sac'.

Close is part of the road name. So King Close, instead of King Road

On a girl’s cruise I was the victim of the screaming demons.

Attributed to the ice I had in port.

Now very careful.

Happened to us in Egypt. We were very careful but still got 'the trots'  think it was ice from the ice machine in hotel

Thank you both.

I think this is the first time that I am so unprepared for a cruise.  No excursions booked, and I just got around to printing out a packing list.  Lots to do in the next week.

I have never heard they charge a couple hundred a day.  That doesn't seem right for passengers that truly need their service dog.   I've heard they have to bring their own food.

Maybe pay a small fee or deposit like some hotels charge.
