We were totally gracious and thankful to the M'd for the 2 cakes. I'm saying here, in private, I would never bother to ask for another. I interpreted your statement that you wouldn't ask again that what X did to make up for it was "too much," not "not enough," and that it made you feel uncomfortable that they went overboard in trying to make it up to you. slanik Posted June 16, 2020 #52 Share Posted June 16, 2020 Twice I’ve won something. On our 25th anniversary cruise my husband and I won the not so newlywed game and we got dinner for two in a specialty restaurant. The other time I won the spa drawing for $500 on embarkation day. Both nice prizes.

cnschultzy Posted June 16, 2020 #54 Share Posted June 16, 2020 My husband and I embarked on our first cruise the day after we got married and the staff on the Edge went out of their way to celebrate us. During our first night in Blu, our servers presented us with a beautiful (giant!) cake and sang "Happy Honeymoon to you." We also received chocolate covered strawberries in our room. All unexpected but very much appreciated gestures. We have so many happy memories from that cruise and can't wait to board another cruise when it's safe to do so. 1

Exactly...yes, they forgot the original...things happen...but to give us TWO of the same cake was overkill and borderline embarrassing. But as I said, we gushed our appreciation. I just choose not to be put in that position again.
sandycruzr Posted June 17, 2020 #56 Share Posted June 17, 2020 We normally sail on Celebrity but occasionally go with NCL or Royal. On NCL Escape two years ago we literally bumped into the Food And Beverage Officer out walking the deck on embarkation day. After I apologized for walking into her, she laughed and introduced herself. I told her how very impressed we were with the food on our last Escape cruise. I told her we usually sail with Celebrity but our sailing was cancelled due to an engine problem and we booked a last minute Escape cruise and we were so surprised how great the food and service were We told her we liked it to much we booked another cruise on the Escape. She was delighted that we were impressed with the food. She gave me her card and told me to call her directly for anything I needed including restaurant reservations. I thanked her and told her that we were already told that the specialty restaurants were all booked up for the first 5 nights. She asked me where and when we wanted to go. I gave her 2 choices for the first two evenings. She made a call and told me we were all set. How nice! Later we went to our cabin and were shocked to find a very expensive bottle of champagne, a fruit basket and a tray of chocolate covered strawberries from her. When we arrived for our dinner reservation, we were in a long line. The Maitre D came up to us and said “please come with me, we have the best table in the house for you”. It was! We enjoyed a great meal and the lovely F and B Mgr came by and asked if we enjoyed our meal. It was wonderful we told her and thanked her profusely for all the goodies and the reservations etc. When we asked for the check our server told us dinner was on the F and B Mgr!! Wow I was impressed. Guess what? That was just the beginning! Everyday, the most exquisite chocolate artwork arrived in our room along with wine or champagne. When I say exquisite chocolate artwork I mean it. I have traveled extensively and have eaten at some of the world’s finest restaurants and I’ve never seen anything like it. My husband kept saying “Doesn’t she realize that this is only our 4th cruise with NCL and we are booked in a $600 pp cabin?” This went on for 7 days!! She would stop by our table every night to chat and she was an amazing lady. Also, everywhere went went on the ship, Bartenders, servers etc. would greet us by name and ask us if there was anything we needed. We ate dinner at six different restaurants on the ship and every night the Maitre D would look for us in line and escort us right in to a great table. I’m really not sure how we ended up getting all this VIP treatment all week but we sure did enjoy that cruise!! 4

Al_W Posted June 17, 2020 #59 Share Posted June 17, 2020 Had a lovely bottle of red wine left for me with a little note from the stateroom attendant on my birthday. I thought this was a lovely touch and very unexpected. Have been on cruises on my birthday before and have never had this with P&O or Celebrity. Rare chemmo Posted June 17, 2020 #60 Share Posted June 17, 2020 Over the years we have received many little ‘treats’, some have been ‘things’ and some have been experiences... Highlights include an ‘honary’ birthday gift of champagne, cake and flowers when the concierge heard I had missed a big birthday on board another ship owing to a health issue. She said the Queen has a birthday and an official birthday so why shouldn’t you! Captain Zisis on Solstice sending a bottle of a specific liqueur for us to enjoy in Michael’s...he had remembered a joke/story from a previous cruise. Being invited to a private bridge tour. Whilst not a freebie as such we have always really been grateful for waiters/M’D/kitchen staff being willing to go above and beyond. For example, making dishes not on any menu. In Tuscan we once expressed regret that they no longer did the mushroom ravioli and they offered to make it for us next visit, in Murano’s making us the nicest Steak Diane we ever had... Winning a necklace and bottle of champagne on an RC cruise....we usually never win anything! Re birthday cakes and an excess...We once cruised in the PH on Summit when our son celebrated a birthday. He received full sized cakes from... The butler The concierge MDR M’D Normandy staff where we dined birthday evening Q’sine staff where we dined the day after... We shared with as many fellow guests as we could persuade to partake, it is perhaps as well the fridge is enormous!

We had a 3 dinner dining package so those were covered but we ate at the speciality restaurants 6 times and she comped all of those plus the servers kept telling us to order any bottle of wine we wanted compliments of the F and B Mgr! We didn’t do that because we felt that would be taking advantage of her generosity. I’m so glad I “bumped” into her on the first day. She is an amazing lady. I love Celebrity and have had some great extras from them over the years (Captains Dinners, extra private tours, etc.) but I don’t think anything could top that! Celebrity still remains at the top of my list!❤️❤️

Rare ORV Posted June 17, 2020 #70 Share Posted June 17, 2020 I see more than a few posts referring to some basic perks as something free, as well as things for your loyalty level. I don't think that's what the OP is talking about. Also as we frequently win trivia we have a lot of swag from that. Although our most frequent Celebrity cruises have seen greatly reduced quality and value of the prizes, in the past some of it was pretty good. I don't really consider the prize for winning at something free though, it's a prize for winning. I also won't mention all the things we got on other lines, especially Oceania as we have got many more free things from them than Celebrity. What we have received is a premium drink package for 4 cabins and dinner at a Specialty restaurant due to completely fouled up paperwork back when the beverage package was new. There were a lot of people with issues on this Constellation cruise and longer lines at Guest Services than we've ever seen. Oh, I've also got a few free packs of playing cards. Bo1953 Posted June 17, 2020 #73 Share Posted June 17, 2020 I have been the fortunate recipient, through an Exec at X, the opportunity to frequently dine in Luminae and use Michael's Club as if I were sailing in a suite.... Since we usually travel with friends and in standard balconies or IV's, I often times do not 'commandeer' Lumanae for dinner but will go for lunch if not crowded at all. But Michael's Club is quite welcoming to us and we do not make any fuss or scenes... I do not consider it 'free' as opposed to 'no additional charge' usage... LOL bon voyage

Are we allowed to talk about our golf game on CC if we were thinking of " When will we be able to cruise again " while standing over a 12 ft putt ?
