There is no way i would take a 3 hour flight to florida to get on a cruse ship with all the restrictions that are going to be placed on a passenger . I will wait until this virus blows over and then may consider a cruise , but for the next couple of years , no chance . This will leave a little more space for the avid cruiser that wants to get on a ship asap. Enjoy your cruise . Cheers ! Yes i agree. I dont think it will be a problem for cruise lines to reduce capacity with all the restrictions in place because you or I will not be the only ones who will choose not to cruise with all the restrictions in place. However with reduced capacity for a long period of time will mean cruise lines will go out of business because they are in business to make money and i dont think they will make enough to sustain it with reduced capacity. However i really dont think the majority of people will cruise at present due to not getting the expereince they expect as it all seems it will be doom and gloom to me on a ship with all the restrictions and for me certainly not worth spending the money to not enjoy. So i agree anyone who is willing to cruise with all the restrictions in place, i seriously hope you have a happy holiday however i seriously doubt it

Others will be out there, but hopefully avoid contact with, for example, frail grandparents. Herd immunity will result eventually. There are now such huge numbers of tests being done that, of course, positives will show up. If herd immunity is the goal, then positives aren't in and of themselves a bad thing. here here. Obviously after being in lockdown for so long, when things opened back up there are going to be cases however that would be the case whether it now or somewhere down the line Herd immunity is the only way it will cease but things have got to continue cos we cant live our lives being restricted like it is right now.

Slidell_Cruiser Posted July 8, 2020 #105 Share Posted July 8, 2020 This is all very disappointing. Cruising is social interaction with others, we have eight bookings next year and at this rate we may have to social distance at home. i would love to have a vaccine available, but the inconvenient truth is there are very few viral vaccines, the average time to create is 19 years and the fastest developed was for Ebola which took 5 years. Then there is the unthinkable, cruising starts, a guest is effected by covid19 and its over folks. I hope I’m wrong on this one, but.... Stay safe everyone. Our cousin sent pictures of the Boardwalk very crowded and not much mask wearing. M8 The only place that masks are being worn are in retail environments. Nobody wears a mask at the beach and they do request that you wear one if using the restroom. What has been said from the beginning you can't wear a mask while eating and drinking which is what is mostly done on a cruise ship.

Or, one positive test. Then have fun on that cruise 🙂 I'm blown away by the posters who think it will be so much fun to go on a restrictive covid era cruise. I guess sitting on their balcony looking at the water is enough to satisfy their addiction. Cruises when they start will be NOTHING like the recent past and I don't think they get it yet. But they will. Demand is going to be very low, cruise critic is no indicator of overall cruise passengers. The addicts better hope the 30% "break even" mantra is true or the cruise lines won't be able to maintain things for them for long. FYI we spent 6 weeks on ships last winter so we obviously do love cruising. But it's seasonal for us, not year round. We'll miss it, but not like the year round cruisers who are desperate to "get on a ship". We have plans for 2 months next winter that don't involve cruising. Even those could be disrupted of course, but less at risk than hoping a no fun ship sails. Edited July 8, 2020 by bouhunter

In Florida it’s very simple, hop in your car and just drive ride to testing location. Almost like using the drive thru lane at Chick-Fil-A. Today, we have two testing locations in our County. Each morning the testing locations are on local news. The wait times are decreasing. Need no reason to get tested. Thanks M8

I would bet the demographic will likely change. The single twenty/ thirty somethings won't let Covid stop them especially if there are deals to be had. The problem is that this is the group that are causing the numbers to go up because they aren't social distancing. Princess, Celebrity, and HAL may have to reinvent themselves since they draw a demographic that has the largest risk factors in terms of Covid.

If you get a script from the doctor you can go to a private lab or an urgent care and your medical insurance will cover that. You will get the results within a day. The state test results come back in 5 to 10 days which my son was told. I just made an appointment at Quest labs for regular blood work. They are charging $119 for someone who doesn't have medical insurance. My son is going to Hawaii in August. He needs to be tested 72 hours before arriving. The state sites won't work for him so he is having the doctor give him a requisition. He just had a test done because he is having an endoscopy. The negative result came back the same day because he had it done at an NYU facility.

Sounds like they are using the quick test? My son tells me they are getting a lot false negative on the quick test. We use open areas to test where access by car is convenient.
