There is no lunch menu, they have a port day breakfast menu and a sea day brunch menu.  The brunch menu contains lunch items.

That’s it? They serve breakfast and dinner, but no lunch? Strange.

Port day breakfast. Sea day brunch. Sea day brunch has lunch items on it. Then you have your buffet, pizza, guys, blue iguana, bbq, and Mongolian wok...then for Dream and vista class pasta Bella. You can get all of the menus here:

Just to be perfectly clear, the MDR is not open for lunch on port days, although there are plenty of placed to eat lunch.  It is open on sea days, sometimes sea day brunch, sometimes regular lunch menu.  EM

Not strange at all. On sea days, they have seaday brunch, which has lunch items. On port days, the majority of the passengers are off the ship during lunch time. For those on the ship, the Lido and other free food places can handle it. Why have a full MDR lunch service for a small number of passengers?

Unfortunately, lunch in the MDR on port days has gone away from just about all cruise lines. Just not enough "business". I for one miss it. Carnival has their sea day brunch in lieu of both breakfast and lunch on sea days. However, on longer cruises where there could be multiple sea days in a row, they will alternate the brunch with a traditional breakfast and lunch. I don't remember the lunch menu being something to write home about.

No, they stopped doing port day MDR lunch about 4 years ago.  If you come back to a ship at 2PM from a port be prepared to have lines out to the Lido, the buffet is always jammed mid-afternoon on port days.

When have you seen a regular lunch menu in the MDR?  Not counting speciality cruises, I can’t recall the last time I saw a lunch only menu in the MDR. It has been at least 5 years if not longer.

The last time we had a regular lunch in the MDR with Carnival was 2011 so we think it's been 9 years since it was discontinued. We always went at least once per cruise and miss it. The Mongolian Steak Salad was a personal favorite of mine.

On the longer cruises that offer lunch, Mongolian Steak Salad is still there. Other than formatting, the old menus didn't change.

Thanks, that's good to know. Now that we're retired journey cruises and Mongolian Steak Salad will be waiting for us when better days are here. 🙂

You're welcome. Looking at the menu you posted, there are some differences, but Pepper Pot and Mongolian are still there. Ribs another day, etc. All the greatest hits.
