Rare Host Anne Posted July 18, 2020 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2020 We got into a long discussion with a friend this week about our first cruise (many years ago) that prompted us to get our our Royal Caribbean drink ware we've collected. Our first cruise was on Monarch of the Seas and I think the first thing we did was purchase the drink of the day that included the souvenir glass! Hoping this photo brings back fond memories for many of you and hope that we will be cruising again sometime soon!
Rare Ukigirl Posted July 18, 2020 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2020 We collected the glasses on our first cruise, couldn’t tell you where they are now. My memory includes my husband cleaning the balcony window every day to get the best views possible! 3 1

loman Posted July 18, 2020 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2020 We arent into collecting anything ( except money lol ) but our first cruise was on the Voyager about 15 years ago . We were hooked as soon as we stepped onto the ship with the huge promenade and classy dining room . Shows were excellent especially the Beatles tribute band ( we saw it twice ) . We liked everything and we have cruised many times with RCCL and the promenades got bigger and bigger . We like Oasis class and stuck with those ships once they were launched . Hopefully we can cruise again if things normalize , in a couple of years with no restrictions .
lovelife Posted July 18, 2020 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2020 Got this on board many, many years ago and use it at home every day, all day, for my ice water.
Rare Host Anne Posted July 18, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted July 18, 2020 From our first Royal cruise in the early 90s...our six year old daughter was a "baked potato" in the kids costume parade on the pool deck. We were all hooked on cruising from this point on. I'm in big trouble if she sees this post!!! 9
MLBFan24 Posted July 18, 2020 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2020 One of my favorite cruise souvenirs is this medal I received from playing cornhole (but I got 3rd place 😂). Not your usual cheap "prize" like a highlighter, keychain, hat, etc. Seeing it reminds me of my favorite cruise - 2017 Fourth of July Alaskan Cruise on Explorer of the Seas - and my favorite Cruise Director activity staff member Silvia Pristavkova (who moderated the cornhole game).

fla gang Posted July 18, 2020 #9 Share Posted July 18, 2020 My first cruise was two weeks after 911 on carnival Fantasy out of Port Canaveral. The sail away was pretty quiet. Everyone was still stunned by the events in NYC. We were escorted several miles by a helicopter gunship. We got moved from a midship cabin to the second cabin from the bow on the Riviera deck. When we were leaving Nassau the captain informed everyone that the ride back to Canaveral was gonna be rough due to a tropical depression we were trying to get around. It was so rough that night! The bow would rise way out of the water and then crash into the big waves, making a loud boom, as the ship was also rocking side to side really bad. I had sea legs for 3 days! Now 35 cruises later haven't had another cruise that bad. Love me some Oasis class ships!
NordicPrince Posted July 18, 2020 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2020 The Viking Crown Lounge on the Nordic Prince 1990. It was very hard for a woman to keep her modesty going up these outside stairs while the ship was moving. Good times.
gatour Posted July 18, 2020 #11 Share Posted July 18, 2020 At one time I think I had the Schooner Bar glass and the Hurricane glass. I also think I had the anchor shot glass. The 2000 glass would be cool to have. During that timeframe were were doing Princess and Disney (I have a cool poster from a Disney 2000 cruise)

Hopefully when cruising resumes, they have some room in the budget for these small items that get overlooked, but appreciated by guests.

Rare KmomChicago Posted July 19, 2020 #19 Share Posted July 19, 2020 On our last cruise on Adventure of the Seas, August 2019, my mom worked very hard collecting swag prizes at the trivia contests. The zipper pulls were like gold. Fun times indeed.

Rare bobmacliberty Posted July 19, 2020 #21 Share Posted July 19, 2020 My wife does a house purge every few years, getting rid of stuff that we've accumulated but no longer use. Unfortunately, the most recent purge included all of the various logo plasticware, light up drinking glasses, water bottles, etc. that filled an entire kitchen cabinet shelf (not just Royal stuff). All gone now except for a Liberty coffee mug that I still use. For some reason, I wanted to hang on to those plastic Labadoozie cups.
