He needs to stop watching the news and get out.

Unfortunately where he lives most things are closed. He does walk his dog a lot. As for watching the news, he stopped that long ago but gets daily reports from work. He can't avoid that because he is working as much as possible for fear of losing his job. He works in the cruise industry.

4.26% positive rest rate - lowest in 4 months.  State is doing a better job keeping transmission in check.  Virus going to virus

Yeah a few weeks ago the media was saying that Florida and Texas were going to implode, hospitals going to collapse.  That narrative has quietly gone away.   Now they're saying the Dakota's and Montana are doomed.  It's gotten ridiculous.

Florida has reduced the Total number of ICU beds from 5500 at the peak to just over 4500. Available ICU beds Statewide is 25%, which is pretty close to normal.

Florida deaths from COVID19 are 1/3 the deaths in NY. Most directional lanes at grocery stores have been eliminated. Movie theaters are open. We have been eating out indoors since June.

Yep. We were doomed. 😇

Maybe you forgot that NY, and especially NYC was the very first to be hit.  You learn from the past.  If FL had taken seriously the steps NY implemented, things would have much better for them!

Florida didn’t send any COVID19 positive patients to Long Term Care facilities. Why you keep giving the person that did this a free pass, is beyond me.

You don't really think that that's good do you?

NY is .85%.

NY has learned. Other states not so much

Because they saw what happenned in NY. The first to do it. DAH!

Florida (and the rest of the country) learned from NY's mistake of doing this

NY only following CDC guidelines at the time. All has changed with learning what was going on

Interesting article by The NY Times. Nobody is in the clear yet.

If only the federal government provided leadership & guidance but I heard nothing more could be done, nothing more could be done.😷  People still bothered about unused hospital beds, if only more had the virus, then they would be happy or at least lese whiny.🤣

Unfortunately Ny and Nj that were hit the hardest in march and april  just like italy had high death rates.  Most deaths due to mishandling of nursing homes but also techniques and treatments were still being figured out early on.  So Fl Ca Tx etc are all fortunate that even with high spikes there is a better understanding on how to handle the virus then those horrible weeks in nyc and italy.  Look at Spain now they have their problems too but death rate nowhere near the numbers italy had.

Also big difference now is the younger adults etc are getting it and most do not need the icu care.

I don't give him a free pass... never said I did.  But why do you insist on changing the subject?  Speaking of free passes... how would you rate Florida governor's response?

Unfortunately the major hospitals in nyc were so overwhelmed they figured the residents of the nursing homes could get the proper care there but that didnt happen.  NYC wasnt the only place doing that.  Last I heard Nursing homes are still shut down from visitors in pa and nj.  Very sad for them and their families.
