Rare stevenr597 Posted September 23, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2020 A lot of talk about Enchanted Princess, but very little about Discovery Princess which is still scheduled to make a Trans-Atlantic during November, 2021. Will it sail on schedule which is looking increasingly doubtful. If not, what is the best guessestimate in respect to when the ship will be ready. Will travelers who have booked be given first preference on the new sailing of the ship. It would be helpful if Princess could give us some updates and their Contingency plans. voljeep Posted September 23, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2020 thanks for bringing this back up ... we're on the little 4 day after the scheduled TA ... hope it goes, but like you stated, hoping Princess gives plenty of advance notice if not
phabric Posted September 23, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2020 (edited) With the dockyard having a 4 month delay, maybe start sailing early 2022. i am on Discovery Dec 13 and also booked Enchanted Dec10 encase the Discovery is not ready. Rare Tak8 Posted September 23, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2020 I doubt they can make up the 4 month delay and follow safety measures. Probably 22 before it is ready. I'm scheduled for New Year on Discovery, but I'm not hopeful.
BettyCruiser Posted September 23, 2020 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2020 We're booked on the December 9th and 13th sailing, but I've already booked a back up cruise since it seems likely Discovery won't sail as planned, hoping Princess doesn't wait too long to announce schedule changes.
Rare LACruiser88 Posted September 23, 2020 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2020 We are booked for the January 6, 2022, 50 day Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles, South America cruise. We sure hope the ship is ready by then or if not, they substitute the Enchanted. We would hate to have yet another cancelled cruise!

I doubt the Enchanted will be substituted. The Enchanted is scheduled to sail alternating 10 day cruises for the winter season of 2021/2022. These are very popular itineraries, with many booking b2b2b's. It would be a lot more difficult to cancel these profitable cruises for an entire season than it would be to cancel a 50 day trip around South America. Investigate a plan "B". weedpindle Posted September 24, 2020 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2020 We have the 11-3 & 11-17 booked. Just booked the Island for 11-22 cause no way is the Discovery gonna sail on schedule.
caribill Posted September 24, 2020 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2020 At a webinar the other day Princess said that Discovery would be in Fort Lauderdale by 12/21/21. They did not say what (or when) it would be doing before that date.

phabric Posted September 24, 2020 #13 Share Posted September 24, 2020 Good thing I also have the Enchanted booked for Dec 13, 2021 as the Discovery would not be ready for my Dec 10 cruise.

voljeep Posted September 24, 2020 #15 Share Posted September 24, 2020 we'll continue to hold out for 12/9/21 ... until Princess officially notifies us - maybe a year from now ?
Anubi Posted September 24, 2020 #16 Share Posted September 24, 2020 We are booked on the November 2021 Transatlantic but at this point we doubt Discovery will be ready in time. My hope is that they will put the Enchanted in for Discovery. It was the only ship that didn't have a Westbound transatlantic before all the shifting started. It was in Europe in October and early November and then in the Caribbean in December, so there is a gap. We booked a back up on the Crown Princess out of Southampton in October 2021 and that got replaced by the Regal Princess.

Rare Tak8 Posted March 18, 2021 #18 Share Posted March 18, 2021 Looks great. Too bad Princess already switched her first cruises to the Regal. Nothing against Regal, but I was looking forward to the shiny new ship.

milolii Posted March 18, 2021 #21 Share Posted March 18, 2021 There is another thread. I only noticed the West Coast arrival of around March, 2022. But things could be different. I am sure someone here will respond.

milolii Posted March 31, 2021 #23 Share Posted March 31, 2021 I read on another thread March 1, 2022. That seems odd. It’s a west coast cruise.
Astro Flyer Posted March 31, 2021 #24 Share Posted March 31, 2021 (edited) In recent Princess webinars the status of the Discovery was discussed & they’re still hoping the ship will arrive for the inaugural cruise from LA on 3/1/22. They have not disclosed any plans about the route the ship would sail to get to LA. Guesses have been via the Pacific, around South America or via the Panama Canal which some have posted wouldn’t be possible due to insufficient clearance to sail under the Bridge of the Americas.
