Of course they can sue.  As stated, vaccination is optional.

 

You are giving Biden and company a lot more effect than they will actually have.  Anti-vaxxers have been significant during administrations prior to Trump, and will continue long after Biden is no longer in office.  In the US, 91% of babies receive the measles vaccine (so some have historically resisted), but there was a spike in measles both in 2014 and 2019 (pre and during Trump), so even at a 91% vaccinated level, there are still contagious outbreaks every so often, again by asymptomatic carriers (whether vaccinated or not) infecting non-vaccinated people.

 

Unlike the UK, the government could not shut down casinos, or stop sporting events nationwide, as those "rights" are granted to the states to deal with within each state's boundaries.  The federal government can only deal with international travel, and to a limited extent, interstate travel.

 

And, to close out the microwaved dog urban myth, as I say, I can't find such a sticker on my brand new, high dollar, Samsung microwave, and just for giggles I found the user's manual, and nowhere in the two pages of safety precautions does it mention not placing a living creature in the microwave.

You can get titers drawn to show you have vaccines in your system.  The lab or doctor can give you a print out.  You would be amazed to know what vaccines you thought you had are no longer there.  Husband and I both had to get MMR booster.  18 yr old daughter had to get an MMR booster and all 3 Hepatitis B vaccines again for college.

McDonald’s was cited for serving beverages above the allowable safe temperature as determined by statute.

Those show your immunity whether through illness or vaccine, not the actual vaccine.   For example, when I was pregnant they checked for Rubella which is a standard test, but they're not looking for the actual vaccine, but making sure you have enough immunity.  That was my point.  The actual vaccine only stays in your system temporarily.  Long enough to get  your body to produce an immune response.   You all had to get those vaccines again because your immune response had weakened, not because the vaccine wasn't in your blood steam anymore.

Was the coffee too hot.☺️ There was a case in which a lady visiting Harrah's in Atlantic City had coffee and was going to her room.  While navigating her bag, coffee and keys to the room, she spilled coffee was scalded and sued Harrah's.  Of course even though she was at fault, she sued.   She got rewarded and can't recall if she won the civil case or there was a settlement.

 

Harrah's  provided free coffee and hot water for tea to it's visitors.  The coffee & hot water urns were placed by the entrance to parking.  This perc was especially useful to those daily gamblers/visitors when leaving at night.  This perc disappeared after this incident.  That's like getting rid of booze in the Lounges if a passenger falls, blames  it on the drinking and sues the cruise lines.

I think we are close to those levels now in certain places in the world. The true USA infection count must be at least 50 million and that is being conservative which is 1 in 6. Once the vaccine hits the general public the figures will drop very quickly.

There are reports today that immunity from the vaccine will last years.  There are officially something like 12 million reported cases.  If the actual rate is 10x the reported cases,  as has been estimated, then that means there's been 120 million infections in the US so far.  If that's accurate, that's about 1/3 of the US population.  So many are asymptomatic or only mildly ill.

 

Flu shot is free for pretty much everyone in the US.  Either insurance pays for it or employers do.  As a Federal Gov employee, I received it every year at work at no cost and that extended to our contractors too.  The goal was to keep people from having to be home sick and not working.  This year, since I retired in March, I got the shot at the local grocery store pharmacy at no cost.

I've done work on behalf of Harrah's over the years (I don't claim to know every lawsuit they faced), but I've never heard of this and don't see anything in an internet search.  Also, I doubt they would get rid of the coffee in the lobby for that reason.  More likely they decided it wasn't worth doing.  As  you mention in your post, they don't get rid of booze, and trust me alcohol brings a lot of lawsuits.

This is true, and it was so much more than that. We met an attorney on a cruise several years ago who knew and had worked with some of the attorneys and knew the ins and outs of the McDonald's case.  It was far more involved than just hot coffee and her mistake in handling it. She was permanently scarred because it was so much above the safe temperature.  This lawyer was adamant that what was reported in the news wasn't reported correctly and gave us info we hadn't heard before.

Has that spike come from the 9% of unvaccinated american children or from the children are in the country illegally and maybe come from countries who maybe don't do that vaccine? In UK we have seen increase in TB cases and they trace back to EU migrant workers from eastern europeans. And i can see employers maybe insisting upon and paying for a vaccine as requirement for employment perhaps in the hospitality industry and such.
