Updated...new expiry date on FCC’s

All FCC’s issued as a result of Global Suspension now have an apply by date of April 30, 2022 and a sail by date of Sept 30, 2022

 

This is confirmed for sailings cancelled by Royal.  Not sure yet if it applies to sailings cancelled under CWC.

Thanks  let us know if you find out if it also applies to ones cancelled under CWC.  Could affect my decision on whether to pay my May cruise in full or not

A rep for Royal just told me that it does work for CWC cancellations. I will be trying it now and let you know if it did work!

I used the online application of FCC to our July 2022 cruise reservations. It takes up to 24 hours to get the notice if it was applied.

What you need to know

• As long as you cancel at least 48 hours before your sail date, you’ll receive a Future Cruise Credit.

• The Cruise with Confidence program covers bookings that are booked on or before January 31st, 2021, that set sail on or before April 30th, 2022.

• Future Cruise Credits are valid to book by April 30th, 2022 and sail by September 30th, 2022.

• You may owe any difference in cruise fare if your new booking exceeds the Future Cruise Credit’s value.

• Some restrictions may apply.

• Complimentary Casino offers are not eligible for Lift and Shift.

• If you opt into the Cruise with Confidence 100% Future Cruise Credit, you do not qualify for any Future Cruise Credit offers or refunds related to our Global Suspension of sailings.

Does anyone remember what is the end date for Double Points? Just on the phone with a CR rep and he says it only goes through December 2021. I thought it was extended?

Book by Jan 31, 2021.  Sail by March 31, 2022

Is it possible to use the FCCs before actually getting the email that says you have them? Or if I called today, would they just say the FCCs aren't yet in their system to apply?

Correct.  You have to wait until they are issued.  If you are booking a cruise they can hold it for you with no money down until the FCC’s are issued. If you have a final payment coming up they can extend the final payment date.

Anyone know if OBC (originally booked via NextCruise) would carry over to a new cruise from a canceled cruise?

Yes you can have the Next Cruise OBC from a cancelled cruise moved to any reservation.

We had FCCs from last March we applied to this March cruise.  The cruise was cancelled in early December and we got back our downpayment and taxes and such but the travel agent says the FCCs are being issued as Letter of Credit which we have not seen anything about yet.

 

We are waiting on an update from the travel agent but in the meantime:

 

Anybody else hear of this different phrase of Letter of Credit and how that is different from FCC?

A letter of credit is applied against the outstanding balance i.e. it shows as a payment whereas when an FCC is applied they reduce the cruise fare.

 

in the end they accomplish the same thing, it is more of an accounting thing on Royal’s end.

I’m not sure why they are being issued as LOC’s unless it has to do with why the original FCC was issued in the first place.

Thank you.  Gives us more time to use all of our FCC's.  Now if Royal would allow us to STACK our FCC's, it would be a nice gesture.

If you have a booking for Sept 2022 with a FCC on it and then you cancel it for a refund before final payment date (CWC is over by then) will you get a new FCC with a date 12 months from when you cancel bringing the FCC into 2023 or would you lose it?  @Ourusualbeach

I believe that you would lose it as it is past it’s expiry date and as you said CWC only covers cruises through April 30.

If I use my FCC, from a cruise that I cancelled, towards a cruise that gets cancelled such as May 1st, will I get it all back in cash?  The portion of FCC will not come back as another FCC?

You would get the FCC back in its original amount with the new apply by date of April 30, 2022 and a sail by date of Sept 30, 2022.  Any new money could be refunded in cash.

You wont get any cash refunds. They dont issue refunds in cash. Make sure you have a bank account for them to transfer you funds
