ZoeyVictoria Posted February 11, 2021 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2021 I received an email from Princess advising that my final payment date for a May 22, 2021 sailing has been changed from ninety days to sixty days prior to sailing. Is this done routinely, or is it possibly a sign this one might actually sail?
wesport Posted February 11, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2021 Normally a sign of more cancellations.
kenack Posted February 11, 2021 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2021 I am also booked for the 5/22/21 cruise and was going to cancel yesterday prior to the final payment date. When I saw they pushed it back I decided to wait and see what happens. I have time to cancel so it can't hurt to wait. I don't mind some of the new precautions we will need to take but being able to go out on our own at the ports is a big deciding factor for us. I am also not sure how they will control people from going out during the land portion of the cruise. I need a vacation!!
AF-1 Posted February 11, 2021 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2021 I believe the Covid Pandemic is one reason the final date was moved from 90 to 60 days.
ZoeyVictoria Posted February 11, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted February 11, 2021 But why would they wait until very close to the final payment date to make the change? There are many complaints about other cruise lines waiting to cancel until after final payment date in order to hold more funds. I don’t believe that, but I am curious about the timing of this change.
tillys mom Posted February 11, 2021 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2021 Maybe Princess is trying to give the vaccine roll-out time to work. They have much more riding on this than we do. Sure hope you get to sail, as we are right behind you on June 5th.

dog Posted February 11, 2021 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2021 Is this Alaska May 22/21? if so, check Princess site for cancellations
WAussieSFO Posted February 11, 2021 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2021 I haven't received an email yet, however, I just checked my May Alaskan cruise and final payment date has changed from Feb 22 to Mar 24. Certainly takes the pressure off of me for now on deciding whether to cancel or pay. I doubt very much it will go ahead but I can certainly keep the hope alive. dreaminofcruisin Posted February 11, 2021 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2021 I am glad to hear this. I hope they do it for all cruises in 2021. Things keep changing, but it is hard to predict 90 days out....hope mine in the end of August gets changed to 60 days too!
voljeep Posted February 11, 2021 #11 Share Posted February 11, 2021 nothing really new ... but this article does state cruises can't start until 60 days after "test cruise" Full return for Florida's cruise industry may not happen until 2022 (msn.com)

Since they will only be allowing those with Princess excursions off of the ship, it will be very easy to control.
ZoeyVictoria Posted February 11, 2021 Author #13 Share Posted February 11, 2021 Not Alaska, our cruise is seven nights to Princess Cays, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. We wouldn’t be surprised (if it is not canceled) if this becomes three nights to only Princess Cays, or even a test cruise. Fine with us, we would still go. Rare azbirdmom Posted February 11, 2021 #14 Share Posted February 11, 2021 It's good to hear that they are extending the final payment date for those whose cruises are coming due very soon. They haven't changed the policy officially (I just checked) but with the uncertainty of these cruises actually happening, I am glad that they aren't unnecessarily collecting cruise fares etc. and putting both passengers and TAs through the work of processing these. rwdw Posted February 11, 2021 #15 Share Posted February 11, 2021 I also received this email from Princess early this morning about our June 5 Alaska cruise. At this time I doubt that we will go. There are too many unknowns that there are no answers for yet.

Our cruise date is 29th May out of Southampton I just did a phantom booking for my same cruise and discovered that on the Princess website final payment has been extended to one month minus a day prior to departure. My TA was not aware of this when I spoke with them earlier in the week. I will call them tomorrow and get this straightened out. Thank you again for your help! Are you from the UK? I have seen some other posts that are saying 60 days. I have a final payment date looming next week and will also approach my TA to ask the question. Tug10 Posted February 12, 2021 #20 Share Posted February 12, 2021 I also found out my final payment date has been extended after checking my online booking. I’m due to sail on 12 June 2021 from Southampton but I have a gut feeling this cruise will be cancelled.

tillys mom Posted February 14, 2021 #22 Share Posted February 14, 2021 My TA checked and final payment for our June 5 cruise has been moved to April 6.
Grego Posted February 14, 2021 #23 Share Posted February 14, 2021 How about this.......the move to 60 days was to be in line with and consistent with the payment due dates with Alaska voyages and competitively with other cruise lines.
