Not there yet I think Princess should look at this. Some suggested benefits: Priority luggage delivery to the cabin; next day laundry service; board anytime no need to reserve a window; something regarding the DMW reservation system which allows more on the spot flexibility; certain cabin upgrades always available. At the 500+ day level there will probably only be 50 or so on board.

trvlwrld Posted July 5, 2021 #704 Share Posted July 5, 2021 IMO - Princess did the same market research on changing tier level benefits as they did on the medallion app...they know that to stay relevant in today’s market change is necessary, unfortunately they have missed the mark on what aspects of cruising needs to be changed!

My point is - No matter what changes they make it will benefit some and negatively affect others. Edited July 5, 2021 by Daniel A

Although cabin fares alone are not enough to provide the returns Princess is looking for, an empty cabin contributes nothing to the bottom line. One thing Covid has done, in my case, is change my booking habits. I have always booked very far out and then paid off monthly, so by the time final rolls around I've pretty much paid the whole thing anyways - when Covid hit, I had a LOT of money tied up in cancelled cruises (total of 10 cancellations at this point). From now on, I have decided to wait until last minute and just book as I go...obviously, if there is a specific room I want (rarely) or a sailing I know will be hugely popular I will re-evaluate...but I'm holding on to my $$$ as long as possible now! In terms of the Captains Circle revamp...I wonder if the fact they gave kids benefits had any bearing on these changes? My two kids (10 and 14) are also elite but, until recently, had none of the perks. Once that changed, they both got the Internet minutes (which meant I didn't really need Plus fares), and when we sailed with grandma and booked younger kid in her room he would get a mini bar set up (without alcohol) so no need for soda package (or Plus fare). I'm not sure how many platinum/elites this added to the Princess calculations, but there are likely a lot of parents that have always cruised with kids and have youngsters who are elite. Imagine when all these kids become adults....I'm sure that by the time mine are in their 20s they will be in with a good shot of being most travelled guests.

Princess really doesn't cater to that demographic.

My two still ask for Princess over other lines right now, but do love the mega ships as well. I guess as long as mom is paying, they will be happy to go with any line. Maybe when it's their own money, they won't even be cruisers...tough to say!
MissP22 Posted July 5, 2021 #711 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Maybe I missed it but did Princess eliminate the liquor setup in the cabins? I wonder it it could still be traded in for coffee cards if it's still there?

It is familiar to them, so that adds a level of comfort/less stress to their travels. When given a choice between cruiselines and itineraries, they stick with Princess. 1 hour ago, ceilidh1 said: Good point...maybe not! I've shown them how to cruise shop wisely, and when they want to do cruises on their own, I'll be interested to see how they choose in the future.

The mini-bar set up for Elite's is still listed in the new benefits info, so I assume we can still ask to replace it with 2 coffee pkgs. Who knows for sure? Guess we'll all find out when we get back on board a ship. Edited July 5, 2021 by RRFan

Steelers36 Posted July 5, 2021 #717 Share Posted July 5, 2021 I do wish we could get 1/2 mini-bar content + 1 coffee card. Probably not gonna happen. We don't need two cards, so don't bother to get one. Not sure if one would even be worth it over the bar supplies. No coffee/tea here and wife doesn't drink much. We have enough FCCs from our abbreviated Coral cruise to pay for our Baltic cruise next year. Our TA "froze" the FCCs so they are not yet applied. We will add them at or near final payment. So essentially we can book whatever and use our FCDs and then add the FCCs later.

Shaver John Posted July 5, 2021 #720 Share Posted July 5, 2021 I know this is self serving since we do have 500+ days, but here are a few perks I think would be nice and not really cost much for Princess or to the general cruising public. 1-1/2 day at the sanctuary for a 7 or more day cruise 2-Free dinner at one of the paid restaurant-lets face it they have to feed us somewhere 3-maybe a glass of wine at dinner or a glass of beer-maybe on formal nights 4-reserve a couple of rows in the theater until 10 minutes before the shows-if not filled, then up for grabs 5-a reservation time to speak to the future cruise folks-I know the lines can be long and that waiting is no fun for anyone, this might be done after regular hours for general service so no impact on the other cruisers. 6-small gathering for 500+ day group for a lunch if Princess chooses to stop the top 40 most traveled These items might be OK with some folks but I think some folks will really complain that it is too much. Have a nice day to all.

CRUISEWITHH Posted July 5, 2021 #723 Share Posted July 5, 2021 I haven't been able to read thru all of the pages, so I don't know if anyone suggested that we get to choose maybe 3 or 4 each of the former perks. That way, if there was a perk that appeals to someone more than another perk, you could choose it. We wouldn't be getting all the perks but just the ones that each person truly wants.

We sailed on the NCL Epic in the Haven and we were escorted by the concierge through a theater back door 10 minutes before they opened the main doors to the theater. It was a nice perk and didn't really cost anybody anything. BTW if you missed meeting at the Haven concierge desk prior to the show nobody could 'hold seats' for you. I wouldn't see a problem with the same perk for the 50+ cruise group.
