i have a cruise on the Indy in october and i believe it has been moved to the odyssey. MY ta is trying to find out if RCCL is just transfering us at the rate i paid or at the current price. Did they move you at the price you paid???

We checked the RCI Website yesterday evening and it's now listing our (formerly) 10/17/21 Indy cruise as on the Odyssey, with a major upgrade in cabin.  The move was automatic and did not go through our TA. I believe RCI is treating this as a vessel substitution, rather than a rebooking, so your price will stay the same.

I think that is the hope of all the crew members, to get vaccinated in their home country but most have not been very sucessful in that attempt.

I believe some crew are already being vaccinated in Port Canaveral.

At the rate you paid. I received an email with the info.

No need to quarantine prior to getting his vaccination. No need to quarantine for 14 days before joining the ship, can quarantine on board. And many of the crew trainings are done online via video followed by quiz while they quarantine.

Flying out to FL today, J&J vaccine tomorrow, join the ship by this weekend, 14 days in his cabin after joining, during which he gets most of his training done. Still leaves at least a full week prior to passengers coming on board to finish up the hands on training.

One week to learn a entirely different set of protcols and policies than what they knew prior to the shutdown?   I don't think that's enough time to accomplish those requirements and offer a qulaity service to a couple of thousand customers, but I guess the first few sailing will see.

Chris works in the casino, so it's also not entirely new protocols, 90% of his job will be the exact same. Pretty much all of the Covid-19 protocol trainings will be stuff he can learn via their online platform while in quarantine. The hands on trainings are mostly getting re-certified on the standard stuff, because people like Chris have been off so long their previous trainings on stuff are considered expired, on stuff like lifeboat drills, fire drills, medical emergencies, etc. Also relevant, there are specific crew on board purely for enforcing the Covid-19 protocols, and they have been on board since April, and enforcing the Covid protocols for their fellow crewmen. By the time passengers are on board, the crew will all be fully vaccinated, and the people who've been enforcing Covid protocols for the last month will just be switching to enforcing them for unvaccinated passengers instead of unvaccinated crew. Exactly what the protocols are will vary from week to week, and the crew will be having to train and adapt to those week by week changes in a matter of hours.

Chris boards the ship today, then quarantines again for 14 days? So just when is the test cruise for Odyssey of the Seas, thought first cruise was on July 3rd?

I guess if it's inbetween June 24th and July 3rd, they are really rolling the dice that CDC will approved the test cruise before July 3rd..........

Sounds to be like they are really cutting it close, so those early sailings still may be canceled?

I wouldn't think they would be allowed to do test cruises with quantined crew onboard, and did I miss it, has Chris even got the Vaccine shot yet? He then would have to wait another 14 days for shot to take effect?

Someone please clarify for me is a July 3rd cruise is even possible? If not there is going to be more unhappy campers on here.....

I don’t know about Chris but this update was from 5 days ago. From M. Bayley:

Today keeps getting better...Our first 2k dose crew vaccine day!

731 crew vaccinated on Allure in Miami and 1,375 crew vaccinated on Odyssey in Port Canaveral

2,106 crew total! 🎉🎉🎉.   Thank you Port Miami !   Thank you Port Canaveral.

Interesting, are they even allowed to run a test cruise with crew still in quarantine or must every crew member be fully vaccinated before they can run a test cruise?

I suspect that they always have a steady flow of incoming and outgoing crew. He will be in his cabin for the duration. Perhaps bar tenders training/responsibility is not as relevant to the test crews as other crew members. I can see wanting cabin stewards involved along with others who may have to contact trace passengers in a simulated outbreak

I believe in Covid time he is going to have more to do then just an ambassdor in the casino.

So glad you’re back onboard a ship again. We will be on Odyssey November 15. Will you be there then?

I think he said in one of his talks that it is a 6 1/2 month contract. So he should still be onboard for your cruise.

I got an email advising me about the move, but I have not yet received a new invoice or a new cabin assignment, still waiting.

I am still waiting for Aug 14 & Sept 25 invoices. While I know this is an upgrade from Indy to Odyssey, and I am not complaining... but I really wanted to be on Indy. We have two other Odyssey's booked in December and next March, So now I am thinking about changing them to another ship for variety. I know... 1st world problems and all.

Thanks. I for one I'm happy to see the new trend of ship staff vloggers. I appreciate the unrefined and unscripted videos free from blatant promotion.

Any news you can share about the show or musical to be presented in the Odyssey?

I understand. Indy is currently my husband's favorite ship, he loves having Playmaker's next to the casino. He just said, well,  I hope we like this new ship!
