Odyssey Of The Seas - Chris Wong

I understand. Indy is currently my husband's favorite ship, he loves having Playmaker's next to the casino. He just said, well,  I hope we like this new ship!

I have no doubt that we are going to love it. Who knows.. maybe we will love it so much that I will leave the other sailings in place. The bottom line, I am so happy to get back on a ship, that none of this even matters. 🙂

Chris boards the ship today, then quarantines again for 14 days? So just when is the test cruise for Odyssey of the Seas, thought first cruise was on July 3rd?

I guess if it's inbetween June 24th and July 3rd, they are really rolling the dice that CDC will approved the test cruise before July 3rd..........

Sounds to be like they are really cutting it close, so those early sailings still may be canceled?

I wouldn't think they would be allowed to do test cruises with quantined crew onboard, and did I miss it, has Chris even got the Vaccine shot yet? He then would have to wait another 14 days for shot to take effect?

Someone please clarify for me is a July 3rd cruise is even possible? If not there is going to be more unhappy campers on here.....

Not allowed to have quarantined crew? lol. They are REQUIRED to have both quarantined crew and quarantined passengers for the test cruises, to show they have the procedures down for quarantining.

No one knows for sure if Odyssey will be able to make her July 3 sailing. But Chris has absolutely nothing to do with that. They already have enough crew on board and vaccinated to have those sailings; they don't need 100% of the crew working for 50% of the passengers; and he has absolutely no effect on their ability to run test cruises.

Read somewhere that they DO need 100 % of the crew from the start because they will be having lots of extra cleaning and different procedures because of all the different protocols.

Again, the CDC is requiring a certain percentage of the crew to be in quarantine. Some of the crew being in quarantine isn't going to stop the test cruise lol.

You must be new to YouTube. 😁

Just about every person that I follow on YouTube...

"Welcome to my channel.  If you haven't already done so, please subscribe and hit that notification bell so that you will know when I post new content.  And don't forget to smash that Like button.  It really does help me with this channel."

The YouTube algorithm must also figure in the number of comments.  Even established YouTubers with 10M+ subscribers are desperately asking people to comment.  Some are more clever than others..."let me know in the comments if there's a better way to do this"...but "comment whoring" has become a real issue.

I guess they have to make money somehow.

For a revenue cruise, they do need a 100% of the crew to had the vaccine, plus 14 days after the last shot was given.

That is where they may have trouble making the July 3rd starting cruise date.

No, they don't. For ships like the Odyssey which are doing test sailings, there is no crew vaccination requirements.

https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/ti-simulated-voyages-cso.html

You might be getting this confused because the CDC requires 98% of the crew to be vaccinated for ships to do revenue cruises without test cruises, but that doesn't apply to Odyssey nor does it require 100%. Or maybe you are confused by Royal Caribbean's statements that they intend to sail with 100% vaccinated crew, but that is not a legal requirement or anything Royal has guaranteed, it's just a marketing statement. There is absolutely nothing preventing the Odyssey from doing both test and revenue cruises without Chris and all the staff shown joining the Odyssey around the same time as him being fully vaccinated.

Also... he's already in Florida where they are giving vaccines to crew members. I'm not sure why you think it would be hard for Royal to get him vaccinated in the next 10 days.

If you are going to now take him off the ship to get a shot, what's the point of the  quarantine for? I'm sure he is not getting the shot on the ship?

Thought he couldn't get the shot now until after the quarantine time is up...then another 14 days after the shot he can work.

As I've already said, you don't have to quarantine prior to getting a Covid-19 vaccination. That works nor differently for people who work on cruise ships than it does for people who work anywhere else. Chris got on the ship yesterday. He hasn't mentioned yet, but probably got vaccinated prior to getting on board. If he didn't, he can go get it any day they are in port and it's available, it just restarts his quarantine clock. I'm sure he'll be posting videos soon showing everything, so if you are just interested in how they end up doing things for him, I really suggest subscribing to his youtube channel.

The important thing I'm pointing out, is that absolutely nothing that happens to Chris effects their ability to sail on July 3, as you keep insisting it must.

From his videos, I think that Chris got his shots in England before he left for the USA.  I can't remember if that is right.

Looking forward to his next video.  😁

Hopefully he will come back and clarify but he is not of an age where he would have been able to get his shots in England (unless he looks remarkably young for his age 😄). The first vaccines only opened up to those in the 25-30 age group earlier this week and for over 30s just a couple of weeks ago. And we have been strict about vaccinating in age group order.  The vaccines are free and you can't buy your way in early.

So maybe he's getting them while on the ship.  He has to quarantine in his cabin for 14 days.  he posted a great video yesteday.  Hope to see more of his VLOGs

He better get moving then to make your July 3rd sailing, doesn't he have to first quarantine, then get his 1 shot and then wait another 14 days before he can board the ship, plus he has to do his new training somewhere?

Can't see him making your sailing.

He's already on the ship in quarantine.

Chris,

Post here what's going on?

Also did you get your Covid shot back in the UK or did you have to wait until you got to Florida?

If so were you quarantined after getting the shot for 14 days, if you got it in Florida I assume you are still in quarantine.

How locked up is the ship now, everyone staying in their cabins?

Most likley he's not going to come on here and say anything, Royal probably told him to keep quiet......

But putting it out there if he wants to say something?

If he wants to keep his job, he will say nothing.

Chris posted on Twitter on June 12 that he got vaccinated with J&J in port

Which means the vaccine won't really help him, but if royal is operating like celebrity he's in a 14 day quarantine since he got on ship so should be removed from contact with the infected before the ship locked down.

Yep, I'll 'bet' there is a fairly strict media blackout
