I remember the buzz the year the policy was changing and I only had like five Carnival cruises logged. I wish I had been able to take the time off to get five more short cheap cruises in that year like several people I know did. I have always wondered if Carnival might relax the requirements once the Diamond and Platinum cruiser numbers normalize from attrition.

Carnival actually converted days from your cruises accurately from my recollection.

Rcl converted all cruises shorter than 7 days as a weeks credit... rcl had a ton doing 3 day cruises...not carnival.

Maybe you read about rcl and thought carnival had been as generous. Nope.

Interesting thread.

I booked under a casino offer from Players Club called Echo, which stands for Executive Casino Host Offer.  It comes (is supposed to come) with the following perks:

ECHO (EXECUTIVE CASINO HOST ON-CALL) OFFER

Free* Balcony Room + $2,500 in FunPlay® credits

Free Drinks On Us! everywhere on board the ship (up to two people)

Complimentary parking or local airport pickup and drop-off

$150 Onboard Credit per person (up to two people)

VIFP Club® Platinum status for your whole cruise

Personal access to an appointed Executive Casino Host

Book by October 31, 2021

Rate Code FXX will be automatically applied at checkout

My cruise is Panorama Long Beach August 28.

If they were honoring my Echo upgrade to Platinum VIFP, as the offer stated, my check-in time should be August 12 (allowing the extra two days advance for Platinum).

My check-in is still showing as August 14th.

No matter, it’s a great offer and I will be cruising with a fantastic Havana aft wrap!

Dear god man (or woman)! How much money have you donated to the casino in the past?

It’s a fluke.  I’m not a high roller, but I did win a large jackpot on my cruise in 2019.  I don’t know why I got this offer so it has to be that.

According to John Heald, FTTF will not be available in July.  Those who purchased it will receive a refund.  No mention of August and beyond, but it's worth noting that it is no longer available on our September cruise.  It was still listed as of last night.  I am platinum so I haven't tried to complete a purchase, but it was letting me add it to the cart before.

Who knows at this point, but I'm not sure what difference there will be from gathering outside/inside the terminal than gathering on the ship.  Also, if they stagger the check in process, then they could still spread out seating in the terminal.

My guess is that they won't even allow a car through the gate if not within the window time.

You may not think you're a high roller, but that offer indicates otherwise. We did 3 Players club cruises in 2019 and my husband's gambling budget is $3-$5,000/cruise. He also has won multiple jackpots in the $3-$6,000 range. So far he hasn't gotten that offer you received, which gives access to a Specific Casino Host.

Some in August are receiving the emails now too. Personally, I do not understand it. The IT team did it for Plat/Dia by going to 16-days. The same team can change the code for passengers with FTTF to be 15-days. You are talking about maybe 2 hours of code conversion and a few hours of testing.

The cost/benefit is worth it for CCL to keep it. Essentially it has no financial impact to CCL. It is almost a complete profit play. They could tweak it a bit because rooms may not be ready. But all they need to say is that FTTF rooms will not be available until 1PM (or 2PM if that is better time).

Carnival was generous because you previously only needed 10 cruises to reach platinum status before the requirement was increased to 75 cruise days.  There was a grandfathering time period in which people could book 3 & 4 day cruises to reach 10 before the 75 day number officially kicked in.

I was being (or trying but failing to be) funny.  Phoneman wrote "terminate", you suggested the correction "tournament".

I jokingly suggested that it was a Highlander-style "tournament" where candidates get killed off by each other in one-on-one battles until only the victor remains.  The catch phrase being "there can be only one."

xref Highlander, the movie.

Sorry i missed that one.

Ok but they didnt give away days ..still in the end had the same number of days. Ok you got a pin early.

Rcl is doing double loyalty pts now thru sept 30 2022. They have done double pts in dec for diamonds. They give loyalty pts away the way carnival gives obc away.

Now even better is if they do honor FTTF and not Diamond priority boarding. I am ready to pay double for that perk, but they have to walk me by the Diamond seating section as we board.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Platinum and Diamond will get 48 hour access to online check in before it is opened up to the rest of the ship.

Quadruple pts thru 30Sep22 for suites and above (obvious for some, but thought it may be missed by some).

Double pts. Suites already got 2 pts, suites solo got 3. Its double the normal amt.

Not missed at all. Regular cabins solo got 2, so now double I will get 4. That's why I'm pushing to get to the 340 pts for 50% solo supplement.

Thus why I mentioned obvious to some...just thought it might help someone else.

You are talking about Carnival IT. They can't change a line of code without breaking 10 other functions.

Lol I was just looking this morning and saw suites higher on my carnival cruises than a JS or higher I can get on my liberrty cruises. Take a look .. carnival prices for suites might surprise you. Carnival isnt the rock bottom prices of before.

And of course I know a JS isnt a full suite but it gets the extra loyalty pts of a suite. I've done a JS myself. Not the big deal you claim.

I would rather cruise more often than pay the extra for a suite.  Eleven out of the 13 I currently have booked are in inside cabins.  The other 2 are an infinite veranda on the Celebrity Apex and a balcony on the hump on the Oasis.

I also don't limit my self to primarily cruise from 1 embarkation port.  Currently booked out of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, Bayonne, San Pedro, Port Canaveral and London.

True 'dat. We were a cruise or two short of 10 at the time, and hurried up and did a couple more 3-day weekend cruises within that time frame to squeak into Platinum before the changed from number of cruises to number of nights. However, we spent a LONG time in Platinum and are only now getting close to diamond.

Since Platinum goes from 75-199 and there are a plethora of members, there have been rumors that Carnival will come up with a Platinum Plus, similar to Diamond Plus with RCI.

Doubtful. The highest level in Princess is only 150 days. And it can be achieved in far fewer days since Princess still counts cruises or days toward loyalty levels.

Since when do Princess and Carnival do the same things.  On Princess, for 40 bucks a day you get their drinks package, gratuities and wifi.  The same items a la carte on Carnival would cost you well over double that.
