Hi LMCruise,

My husband and I are also booked for May 30th of '07. We had cabin 5169

but were worried about the larger lifeboat in front of us. We changed to 5175, but now I have to call my Carnival agent to see if the beds can change into one larger bed.

Dh and I are booked with Royal Caribbean Radiance for May 18th. I've been to Alaska before on Princess and loved it. This time we picked RCCL because we are looking for a younger crowd and more night life(which was non-existant on Princess). We picked Princess last time because my mother, stepfather, mother-in-law and father-in-law were with us, so they fit right in. DH and I felt like kids (we were both 35 then) which isn't a bad thing!

For those of you that this is your first trip to Alaska........ be prepared for the best cruise of your life!:D

I looked at the deck plans and actually it looks like cabin 5175 is the smaller star and is actually a cabin for 3 - the beds will convert. Why they put you in a cabin for 3 when there are so many other choices I can't figure out. You might still have a "small" forward obstruction from the third tall lifeboat. A cabin farther back - like 5181 - might be better. Reduces the chances. I'm not a fan of that section of the ship myself - but figure the seas won't be as rough as they are in the Caribbean.

I just booked the 5/27/07 RT Seattle on NCL Pearl. I'm so excited to see Glacier Bay.....and I can't wait to be sipping coffee on my balcony! :)

Happy planning everyone!

Cool you go bowling in your free time on the cruise.:D

I have never been to Alaska and are anxiously awaiting our trip next summer. It is my understanding that you are going to find an older crowd no matter what line you cruise with.

My wife and i went to a travel expo and they had a little seminar about Alaska which we attended. We are in our late 40's and we were spring chickens in the room.:p

I booked the southbound Radiance of the Seas when RCI/Celebrity's 2007 prices first became available April 25th. Since then I've been stewing about my choice. I gave serious consideration to one-way cruises on Princess and HAL, so when my preferred online discount cruise agency finally had prices for Princess's Alaska cruises, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the MUCH smaller Pacific Princess (~ 680 passengers) wasn't much more costly than the RCI cruise I had booked. I put down a deposit on the northbound Pacific Princess and cancelled my original RCI Alaska cruise today. I wish the northbound sailed to Glacier Bay, but I will just have to be satisfied with Tracy Arm, Hubbard Glacier, and College Fjord!

I was giving RCI some consideration but I'd rather not book with them if i don't have to. From all the reading i have done Hubbard Glacier isn't bad at all. If onl;y they weren't caught polluting they'd be able to go to Glacier Bay also. Me personally I like the larger ships.

Welcome aboard Brenda. The year will be up before you know it.

I think it would be great to cruise on a small-ship cruiseline like Cruise West or Clipper, but they are quite expensive. The Pacific Princess is as close as I'll get to a small ship at a large ship price!

Now that HAL's Alaska cruises are once again on Travelocity, and I see how the itineraries have changed since the Cruise Planner was published, I am happy with my new choice. I can finally stop obsessing over which cruise to take!

Glad that you can stop second guessing yourself. I hate that too and do it after booking every cruise at some point.

I just checked out the HAL itineraries and now i remember why I didn't wait. The Noordam goes to Sitka instead of Skagway. We really want to do the White Pass Railroad and go to Emerald Lake.

Hi Cheryl Sea u onboard,

After numerous phone calls and mind changings, we have decided the heck with the obstructed view and will pay the difference for unobstructed. My Carnival Cruise Vacation specialist is off now till Tuesday, so i will call her then. Thanks for all your help.

That's great - do what is best for you. I know we are saving with the 7A - over the 8E we were looking at. It would only cost a little more for the 8A - BUT - with 4 of us it benefits us to save the money and use the savings for excursions. I want to do as much as possible since this will probably be our only trip to Alaska. We have plans of doing MANY different vacations and I'm just not sure we will squeeze Alaska in again.

I would love to do a back to back, a repo (Panama Cruise), a med cruise, a Hawaii cruise, an Australian cruise - see where I'm going with this :D .

Have a wonderful time - I know we will - CAN'T WAIT.

Gale - If you want more info on the Spirit then check out my private yahoo group - see my signature.

I know what you mean! Our plans are Alaska cruise in 2007, Mediterranean in fall of 2008, Australia/NZ, British Isles/Norway Fjords, back to the Baltic, etc. So many places...so little time!

Sapphire Princess, Southbound on June 9, 2007: we will leave the ship in good condition for all of you leaving June 16:D .. Several couples headed to Anchorage on June 3 for 3 nights in Denali and 2 in Anchorage before the cruise!

Nancy: Our plans match.. we are also doing Europe in '08.. hoping Celebrity still has the combo Norway/British Isles or Med cruises on Century (which was our second choice for this year!)

:::wishing monopoly money was good at the travel agency:::
