The ODYSSEY and the ECSTASY Live Oct 23-31

Following my summer of fun theme, we continued trying to pack in as much fun as possible.  So after Two70, it was off to Music Hall for Majority Rules where we found out how bad we are at that.  We were 0 for 4 before we finally got one right.  We made a slight comeback, but Five out of ten is still close to a failing grade in my book.

Then it was off to the comedy show.  Both comedians were hilarious.  I know we will do a repeat when they have a new show later in the week. 😀

Following along. We will be on Odyssey next May when she comes over the pond. I am enjoying your pics. The royal chocolate cake is one of my favourite desserts. I have it most nights in the MDR. Thanks for sharing. Have a great cruise. :)

It was on the CK menu on Symphony every night as a back-up selection.

It's on the adult menu in the MDR every night too but they disguise under the name "apple blossom à la mode". I don't know if it's exactly the same as the one on the kids' menu. Maybe the kids' version doesn't have the raisins that I have seen a few posters mention?

How about a few random, vitally important (or not) observations.

TEXTING ONBOARD

We both have iPhone 12 phones. I can confirm that if you put your phone in airplane mode and connect to the free internet that is used for the Royal Caribbean app, that you can use iMessage to text each other onboard. It also works to iMessage anyone back home, as long as they have iPhones.  A photo attachment to the text will not work though.  However, since we are on the same free WiFi, we can airdrop photos to each other.

SUITCASE STORAGE

We have hard side, clam shell type suitcases. This is the first ship we have been on, where they will fit under the bed in the closed position.  There is room if you want them in the open position also.

ROOM LIGHTING

Our hotel room key works perfectly to use in the slot that activates the room lighting and air conditioning.

PASSENGER CAPACITY

The cruise director says that we have 1501 passengers this week.  Fifty of them are under the age of 18.  So far, we have only seen two small children.

Now back to our regular programming. 😀

I am a creature of habit, and my first night meal when cruising is always.

Escargot

Others have noted that it is difficult to hear and understand waiters and others with their masks on. We also found this to be the case.

I always get the escargot too. Love that garlic and butter that makes for good bread dipping sauce too.

I too am worried about hearing the waiters with their masks on.

@Sea Dogthe first drink was actually a rum and coke, but the first cocktail was a Cozumel Sunset.

Thanks I will have to try one. Cheers!

Today is our Perfect Day.  I was up so early, they thought I was part of the crew reporting for work.

It felt strange walking around inside with a mask on, and no one in sight.

How about some pictures of an empty ship.

The pools are all still covered at this hour.

It was so sad last night, that we didn’t even make it to the DL, nor did we use all our vouchers for the day.  Susan says we need to start drinking earlier.

Mark what time was it when you took those pics. You said early but it almost looks like the middle of the night. I too would like to shoot some empty ship pictures.

I agree time to start drinking early.

More useful (or useless) information.

Day 1, I did all the posting using our cell service in port.

Day 2 here at Coco Cay, I used one of our Diamond internet (free days) for 24 hours of surf internet. Tomorrow, I will use Susan’s discount for money off the remainder of the voyage package.

I have found this is usually less than buying before the cruise if it is timed this way.

One thing I will say about the sea last night, is it was so calm we never felt the ship move.

What a colorful pier

And dancers to greet us

I should mention this is our first trip to stop at Coco Cay since they did this development. Very nice.  I approve!

Dinner at the MDR

I am a creature of habit, and my first night meal when cruising is always.

Escargot

And usually creme brûlée, but I opted for the Royal chocolate cake (only because I knew someone would want a bite)

My dear wife had the same, except for her apple pie desert from the kid’s menu.  Good to know they have this every night.

Others have noted that it is difficult to hear and understand waiters and others with their masks on. We also found this to be the case.

Your first night meal matches mine except I stay with the créme brûlée.
I generally have it at least 50% of the nights.

I just answered my own question on why these kids are not in school.  It is Sunday.

I may have to start riding elevators to know what day it is. 🤣🤣

Ask your question again tomorrow, when it is Monday!

I always believed traveling gave our kids a great education, so I never hesitated to take them out of school to start it a trip.

We did the same with our kids when they were growing up,   They always had to do reports on what they learned.

Coco Cay is such a nice place.  I know our grandkids would have a blast there.

We are back to Coco Cay in January on our Oasis B2B.  We have this booked the first week. It didn’t look like it went up more than a couple times today.
