Rare molemaui Posted November 28, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2021 We are planning a couple of back to back cruises this winter. Previously we went from Celebrity (with no self service laundry) to Oceania, Silversea or Viking Ocean (all have self service laundry. You spend a day or so after boarding taking care of laundry - no problem. The same is true if you go to Celebrity from the others-do laundry before you leave the ship. If you are going Celebrity to Celebrity (either same ship or different ships) is the only alternative to use the ship laundry service or severely overpack? Sounds like a simple solution but I haven't figured it out yet! 😁 Thanks
CHEZMARYLOU Posted November 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2021 These are 2 alternatives so yes, you have it figured out. The 3rd, which I don't recommend, is to take your dirty laundry int port and look for a laundromat.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted November 28, 2021 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2021 If you book your Celebrity cruises today before the current sale ends which includes OBC, you can use some of that OBC to pay for the 30 piece $50 per bag of laundry. 😎 1
vms Posted November 28, 2021 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2021 In the past, a free bag of laundry was a perk given to B2B cruisers, but I don't believe that applies if you are switching ships. I'm not sure if this perk is still being given since the restart, but perhaps a recent B2B cruiser could comment?

Celebrity has never (pre and post B2B covid cruises) offered a free bag of laundry as a perk for B2B cruisers. We receive the free bag (each) of fold and wash for being in one of the upper three CC tier levels. Why stress over laundry while you are enjoying your B2B

And we have been on a B2B since cruise ships have resumed sailings. I agree with @davekathy. Sometimes there are drawings at the B2B passenger meetings, and I've occasionally seen a coupon for a bag of laundry as one of the prizes. But I have never seen a bag of laundry given as a perk to B2B passengers.
vms Posted November 28, 2021 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2021 Well, I'm glad I asked someone with more recent experience to chime in. The last B2B I did on Celebrity was in 2016 and everyone on our B2B received a coupon for a free bag of laundry at the B2B meeting. I was already planning to pay for it, so was thrilled to get such a nice surprise. I think I was still at the first tier of CC back then, so I know it wasn't because of my loyalty status. Sad to hear that this has changed, and apologies for misleading folks.
jelayne Posted November 28, 2021 #9 Share Posted November 28, 2021 We have been on many B2B and have gotten from nothing to a bag of laundry or discount on specialty restaurant or a bottle of wine. These were offered at the.B2B meeting. Most times nothing was given out. If they offer the $50 bag of wash and fold laundry that would be your best option. Rare Stem to Stern Posted November 28, 2021 #10 Share Posted November 28, 2021 On longer itineraries my ever so ingenuitive other half has exercised the yet unmentioned option of hand washing items in the stateroom’s bathroom sink at no extra charge.😳
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted November 28, 2021 #11 Share Posted November 28, 2021 I've done several B2Bs and even a B2B2B now and then and have never seen a free bag of laundry offered. Or any other freebies for the B2B folks. Guess I've been on the wrong cruises.
citruscruiser Posted November 28, 2021 #12 Share Posted November 28, 2021 While on the Summit, since they restarted, they did offer a bag of laundry to B2B. But that was in October. I would suggest starting a new thread with the subject you are asking about and you may find current cruisers who could have more up to date info. Denny01 Posted November 29, 2021 #13 Share Posted November 29, 2021 We’ve done a number of Celebrity B2B’s and we have used Celebrity laundry every time. I’d personally not go with the overpacking since 2 cruise packing would be pretty major, and just pack for the cruise and get them cleaned. I have done my socks and so in the sink, but quit that after going with the laundry and it’s just fine. We’ve not had any issues with the ship laundry and it usually comes back the next day, and at worse, the 2nd day. Very efficient and no damage. And the cost is about what we pay with our local laundry, the difference is, we dont get socks and underwear done so that runs the cost up a bit. But in my opinion, it’s much handier getting it laundered on the 1st cruise and then getting any more needed done early on the 2nd cruise. Trying to pack for that long could get tricky. Sad to hear that this has changed, and apologies for misleading folks. Your situation in which every B2B passenger received a coupon for a free bag of laundry was not the norm even in 2016. But I actually did win a free bag of laundry at a drawing held at a B2B passenger meeting in 2017 -- we were already Zenith members of the loyalty program by then so I gave it to someone else. My husband had already won a bottle of wine so I told the fellow passenger that it was too much for each of us to win a prize.

We have done, probably 20+ B2Bs on the Celebrity and we haven’t ever been give free laundry as a perk for it. It doesn’t matter as we each get two free bags per cruise as a benefit of the loyalty program. This was all prepandemic.

On the others asked our cabin attendant on the last day of the first cruise. They have always been brought a bag. Again we are very nice to our attendants. We also travel with a clothes line and two suction cups. There are lots of clothes my dear wife would prefer not to be washed in 250 degree water and dried until too hot to touch. Not hard with a few minutes every day to keep up even when we were on board for 5 weeks.

We were given ticket for a free bag of laundry. Don’t know if it had anything retaliated to being in a suite but is was the first time we received it and we have taken B2B before but not in a suite Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

So that may be a consideration as well. Given you may have to pay for both, I would probably rather pay for the ship doing the laundry.

But I would submit that this solution works better for women than for men. Lingere -- easy. And I have many blouses made of lightweight synthetic fabrics that are easy to wash and dry in the stateroom bathroom. I have a travel clothesline for this purpose. But I could also pack 2 dozen of those thin blouses and still have room left over in my carry on. The trouble comes with bottoms which tend to be heavier, and with my husband's polos, hawaiian shirts, and khakis, which just don't look nice after wringing out in the bathroom sink. This solution also doesn't work as well on a cold weather cruise when items are thicker and don't dry well. I have used self service laundry on some ships, longer cruises. Wish this was an option on all cruises. The ship laundry costs are just outrageous. I'm looking forward to the day when I might get some laundry included. 🙂

Just don't want to lug around more baggage than we need. In reality, paying for ship laundry appears to be the best solution. 1
TeeRick Posted November 29, 2021 #23 Share Posted November 29, 2021 (edited) I personally find these laundry discussions very funny. So if you look at the total cost of two people cruising B2B (even in the least expensive cabin) versus the cost of a $50 bag of laundry, what is the worry? Would you be concerned about one person charge (at least $50) in a specialty restaurant? Or a few drinks in port or a lunch or a taxi ride? Or a few minutes in the casino? Just consider the cost of laundry part of the overall cruise cost. It really is inexpensive compared to most things. And you could use OBC on your laundry. We've done a lot of B2B cruises and nothing has changed as far as getting a free bag of wash n fold laundry bag for consecutive cruisers. The free bag of laundry was never a B2B perk. What you or others experienced was unique to your (their) cruise at that time and not the norm fleetwide. Frankly, I'm getting a chuckle over this thread in the sense that , what's the " worry " ? You're spending $$$$$ on a B2B cruise and asking for " opinions " on what to do about your laundry ?? I'd worry more whether someone splits Kings --- like I've seen many times --- and when the table lost, it caused a " scene ".
