Cruising-along Posted January 1, 2022 #76 Share Posted January 1, 2022 I wonder if our Dailyites have opinions about this. DH received a jury summons for early February. Both he and I really don't like the idea of him sitting in a room for who knows how many days during Covid with strangers. There's a phone number he can call with questions but of course not until Monday. Any thoughts? 13
summer slope Posted January 1, 2022 #77 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Here in Florida if you are over 70 you can opt out with no questions asked. I would call on Monday and say since the Covid is so bad he wants to be excused. 19

I managed to find a spot for a PCR test tomorrow, although I'll have to drive a bit. Everywhere close didn't have openings. I've been very careful, so I'd be surprised if it's positive. Fortunately no pain from the lost dental crown. @kazu Continuing to pray for Jose, his medical team and you. @StLouisCruisers That is surprising DGS tested positive again, although supposedly the test can remain positive for weeks to months (although the person is not infectious). How long ago was his prior infection? DD says he was Covid positive before he ever got a vaccination, which was around April. Early in December he had a sore throat which he was tested for Covid for, and it was negative. The clinic told him he had a sinus infection and bronchitis. Then this week he had a fever and cough, was tested and positive for Covid. I do hope you aren't positive too. Good luck! My DD says she is going to start calling the Covid vaccination the Covid shot, since they seem to help prevent Covid about as well as the annual flu shot prevents flu. We had high hopes in January when we got our vaccines that we would never have to worry about catching Covid again. If only that were true!😷☹️

Rare Vict0riann Posted January 1, 2022 #81 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, and Happy New Year, all Dailyites. Rabbit was the first thing I said out loud, except for maybe a groan getting out of bed this morning. I hope that will help with the new year. We need a bit of good luck! @JazzyV, I hope you test negatively tomorrow. I wonder if the PCR test says if a positive is a particular variant, or if more testing is needed to find out. As omicron takes over, I think more and more will just have a very mild case and good immunity after. Our Dr. Bonnie said last year (!) that eventually we will all be exposed to it. We have been to Glasgow on driving trips, but a long time ago, I will have to get out a real photograph album and have a trip down memory lane. I remember we were very pleasantly surprised by the city. I'm praying today that 2022 will bring good things to all the Dailyites, and renewed health for Jose, and everyone on the Care list.
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted January 1, 2022 #82 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Good morning again. Last night's dinner of fresh asparagus, salad and lobster tails was good. However, we realized we either needed a waiter from the MDR (Slam, where are your?) to take the meat out of the shells or to do a little more prep before cooking them. With our cool, breezy weather, we cooked the lobster and the asparagus in the air fryer, and they turned out fine. This morning, we had cinnamon French toast and mimosas to finish our sparkling wine while we watched the Rose Parade. With having a glass at dinner, one at midnight and the rest this morning, we did not have a hangover. 👍 Now that the dishes are in the dishwasher, I'll put the Christmas napkins and placemats in the washer, then start putting the decorations away. We have not been to Greenock or Glasgow yet. Hopefully, they are in our future. The drink sounds like I may want to give it a taste, and the wine sounds good. Pinot Noir is my go to red wine. @richwmn Rich, glad you enjoyed your cruise and safe travels home tomorrow. @summer slope Safe travels tomorrow. Bon Voyage and enjoy your Rotterdam cruise. @Sharon in AZ While the wording in the picture was a typo, it could be interpreted as "1 Minute Until 2021 is HISTORY!" 🤣 @dfish Enjoy your day off and enjoy the evening with your friends. Sorry about the crown. DH carries dental glue with him when we travel and has even given some to people on different BHBs. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, sorry about your DGS testing positive. DH's grandniece (13) tested positive for a second time last week. She is vaccinated, but too young for a booster. @JAM37 Enjoy your time in Orlando. Great that you could help your friend. @Crazy For Cats Loved the cat memes. @Heartgrove I agree that traveling to and from ships is the most likely time to be exposed to Covid. @luvteaching Karen, good news that DH's finger is looking better. Glad the infusions are working. @JazzyV Vanessa, sorry about the crown, but glad the tooth is not hurting. Hope the PCR test is negative, and that the headache and sore throat go away soon. @kazu 🤞 Jacqui, fingers crossed that Marley likes the new flavor of pill pockets. I guess I've procrastinated long enough. Time to tackle the Christmas decorations. Lenda 28

If each court jurisdiction is following the guidelines there will be social distancing and KN95 masks worn at all times (except when eating or drinking or answering questions directed to you). That being said, Snohomish County Clerk's Office Customer Service Center is presently closed because of Covid exposure. That may be a good thing for people chosen for jury duty because it will limit the number of people around the courts. 15

cruzn single Posted January 1, 2022 #89 Share Posted January 1, 2022 Happy New Year! It has been so much fun to read of everyone's NYE "celebrations" and to also read the NY Day menus. Yesterday completed a record day for moisture here in the Grand Valley. We had snow all day long and ended the year with more moisture than the usual yearly average. My step-daughter and I both commented that we had never seen such big snowflakes. Plowing and shoveling has not been done by those contracted by HOA, so who knows when I will get out of here. I had planned a grocery run yesterday, but that plan went up in snow! This is such a wonderful place to visit each day. Many thanks to @richwmnfor creating our Daily. Thanks to @rafinmdfor the care lists and congrats lists. It is such a great way to share happy days and to show concern for others. Of course, drink, wine, and recipes contributors are very welcome. My NYE and today consists of watching football, organizing my filing cabinet and files for 2022, and just staying home. I have several things to accomplish before I leave on January 12 for Arizona (visit my Sis), 2 weeks in Hawaii, and then boarding the Zuiderdam on January 30 for the Panama Canal. First thing is to decide if I am going to go forward with these plans! My prayers for all on the care list. May 2022 be the best year (so far) of the third decade of this millennium!

How do you not weigh 300 pounds with all the eating you and Pauline do? Those giant pizzas make me hungry for a pizza every time you show one, but I would gain a few pounds each meal. Then consuming all of the steaks and fries and other delicious food porn you show us would put me over the top (weight wise). lazey1 Posted January 1, 2022 #98 Share Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) Happy New Year friends. Unlike some of you our weather today is gorgeous. It finally quit raining sometime after midnight. The sun is brightly shining, just a couple of big puffy white clouds now. However it is cold (for our area 54F is cold) and very windy. From my kitchen window it looks like I could reach out and touch Superstition Mountain although it is 28 miles away. When I was growing up our New Years meal was always Black Eyed Peas and Collard Greens because my Dad insisted. Since I married our New Years meal has always been a S/W tradition: Tamales. @Cruising-alongHere is Arizona if you are over 75 you can call the court and be granted a permanent excuse from jury duty. @aliaschiefYou are making me jealous whith all your planned cruising. I want to sing the old song "Take me along". Jane Edited January 1, 2022 by lazey1

I will have a lucky southern meal today (maybe better luck than my usual NY day meal) - black eyed peas, ham, corn bread and greens. I also need to make PA Dutch pork and sauerkraut since I defrosted the pork loin. Pass on the drink.
