I thought that bingo was a thing of the past

It was replaced with Deal or No Deal, which also has a change like Bingo.  Did you have a port cancelled?  Maybe they are pulling out old activities, dropping the fee, in order to add activities for the added sea days.

We are due to sail on 2/5 and the way things are going it may be a cruise to nowhere.

I thought that bingo was a thing of the past, but they are playing it Sillhouette on board right now.  Big differences— it’s free to play, there are no cash prizes and they are playing for trinkets (lanyards, playing cards, junk)

That sounds like fun.   I hope no one is trying to cheat like what happens with the Trivia Contests!

How do people cheat on the trivia contests?

Old style bingo just for fun! How refreshing...

The pay to play BINGO  was not very popular on any of our cruises...not group fun!

This was the regularly scheduled St. Maarten  port date, no alterations to the schedule.  The activities host said come back tomorrow for another free bingo game. So apparently they are doing it on the port days. I have no idea if they are also going to do “deal or no deal” at some other time.

A few years ago we were on a British Isles cruise on Princess. Because of UK rules casino wasn't open & so they had casino games for fun, no money!  Same thing, we played for trinkets so at the end of the night you went back to your cabin with full pockets! 😁

They cruise on B2B sailings and remember the answers from the previous cruise or maybe from another recent Celebrity cruise. Although I have to admit, the older we get, the harder it is to remember some of the answers. 😂😂

The activity hosts on silhouette do a very good job of monitoring things like that. And aren’t afraid to enforce the “no device” rule.  They are doing a very good job in trying circumstances (they are understaffed on this cruise )

I’m not sure what’s worse. Cheating to win a $0.05 trinket, or enforcing a no device rule to protect a $0.05 trinket…

The last time I sat in on trivia (RCI) several of the stock answers were actually and clearly wrong…

That is not cheating, that is luck. And memory.  And knowledge. Knowledge acquired by watching Jeopardy or playing a lot of trivia on other cruises or reading the answers on the men’s room wall (yes, that is a thing), or playing a lot of pub quizzes at their local.

There is no subterfuge in any of those.  It isn’t against the rules to have heard that question before and remember the answer, but it is against the rules to use a device to look up the answers.

Also some B2B cruisers with cheat sheets from the first leg.

The last thing I would ever think about doing on a ship is to play B-I-N-G-O with a bunch of people of a certain age (like myself 🙂).  I reminds me of when I used to take my grandmother to church to play every Wednesday night.  I always said oh dear, please don't ever let me do this when I am of that certain age, well I am of that certain age, and I still will not play.  Rather hang at the martini bar with the 30 somethings.  For those that play, hope you win the best trinkets!

And I hope Celebrity keeps it that way by promoting the "fun" aspects of the games, whether it's bingo, trivia or interactive game shows. We've been on other cruise lines where it's become a more intense endeavor and really not all that much fun unless you've secured some "ringers" on your team of six.
