Thank you for taking the time to do this.  I'm loving it!  We'll be doing the 18-day Hawaii cruise in January, 2023.

I had a fun time participating in the Ukulele lessons and the recital.  There were extra people who showed up with their own ukuleles for the recital.  Same for the Hula dancers.  It was great!

Can't wait to hear what you did on Oahu.  I love Waikiki and your sail-in was beautiful.  Love it when the moon has not yet set just before sunrise.  Cherie

Happy and sad reading this. Sad because we were to be on this cruise and set to fly to SD on Tuesday Feb. 1. On Sunday evening January 30 we got the call that our grandson tested positive and we had been exposed to him. Went Monday morning for our scheduled Rapid Covid test. Negative! But we were told they were not surprised since we were vaccinated and boosted. A PCR was then sent out but we wouldn’t get results for a few days. Called HAL and explained situation and were told “No Go!” and that we would get a future FCC. Then cancelled flights and excursions. Didn’t want to fly out and have a positive test or have a positive test on board, so glad we cancelled. I strongly believe things happen for a reason. Rebooked for next year!

Now, happy cause I get to read your travels and almost (not really) feel like I’m there.

We took an Uber and hiked to the top of Diamond Head this morning.  Spectacular views from up there, but bodies are a bit sore now.  

 

 

 

 

Then we went to the Ala Moana Center, replaced my old Apple Watch at the Apple Store and used their Wi-Fi to participate in an HOA Board meeting via Zoom.  

Casual dinner in the Lido followed by the Hawaiian/Polynesian dance and drum show.  

 

Then we enjoyed the music at BB Kings before calling it a night.  

 

We have tickets to visit the Doris Duke Shangri-La Museum tomorrow morning.

Not Steve and Bob, but I just received 6 magnet hooks from Amazon. This time I chose hooks that will hold 100 lbs. Over the top? Probably 🤪We have 6 others that hold 20 lbs.

Please take lots of photos at Shangri-La.  I read a biography of Doris Duke and was super excited when they opened her home to the public.  But it's always been closed every time we're in Honolulu.  😩

No. Hasn't been enforced in many years. Certainly since the change from "Formal Night", to "Gala Night", which was around 2017 or so. But before then it wasn't well enforced either.

Enjoy your tour of Shangri La.  This tour, through the Honolulu Museum of Art, is one of my favorites.  The beauty and history is wonderful.  And, if you have time for a meal at the Museum's outdoor restaurant before or after..we really enjoy it.  Good food and a beautiful spot.  Enjoy,  Cherie

Started yesterday off at Waikiki Beach. While I was snorkeling, a big sea turtle swam right up to me. Afterwards, I climbed Diamondhead and treated myself to a delicious pineapple whip when I returned. Then it was back to the beach for more snorkeling where I discovered my first sunken treasure, a $5 bill stuck on some coral. 

 

Tomorrow in Maui this beautiful tenor ukelele will be delivered to me at the pier by its builder who only makes two a year.

@sp00nSounds like a fantastic day!   Where at Waikiki beach did you snorkel?  We take our gear with us and will be doing the SP cruise in the Fall.   How special is that with the turtle!

I love tenors.  Is it a Mele?  Koa with Mother of Pearl inlay?  Gorgeous!  Congrats!
