Bad news.  This afternoon we had our back-to-back covid test.  I tested positive, rapid and PCR test.  The wife is negative. We are both asymptomatic.

We were moved to an isolation cabin and will be taken off the ship tomorrow morning in Ft Lauderdale.

We will have to isolate in a hotel for 5 days before being able to fly home.  Princess has arranged our transportation to the hotel and made the hotel reservations.

I was able to squeeze out that one other back-to-back cabin had a positive test.

I am so sorry. I live in Ft. Lauderdale about 25 minutes from the port. If you need anything post here and I will get it for you & bring to the hotel.

Blessings

Kathy

Wow!  So sorry to hear.  😞

We spoke with a couple on the elevator last night who mentioned that the wife had to go for the second test as the first one showed what turned out to be a 'false positive'.  They were super happy to get the good news that the second test was negative and will be continue on with the next leg.

So sorry to hear this happened to you and that you’ll miss the second leg of your cruise. I hope you and your wife continue to be asymptomatic. From the letter you received it looks like you will get reimbursed for your out of pocket expenses so I’m happy to see they are taking care of you. I’ve seen posts on another cruise line where this wasn’t the case. What hotel do they put you in for quarantine? It would be nice if it was the Embassy Suites so you’d have a little room to spread out for your time in quarantine.

This morning at 9:00 am, we were escorted from the Aloha Deck to Deck 4 via a service elevator.  We disembarked thru a loading dock door.  We walked about 100 feet, past a CBP desk and into a waiting Sprinter van.

We are now at the Marriott Ft Lauderdale/Coral Springs.  The hotel is about 30 miles N/W of the Ft Lauderdale airport.

We were told that they usually use the Fairfield by Marriott, but they were booked.

There were two other couples checking in from our ship.  Neither were back-to-back passengers.  They had tested positive earlier in the week and had been in isolation.  One couple told us that they both had minor symptoms.

We cannot leave for home until Friday.  Flight has been rescheduled.

We will get a lot of reading done and our fill of Netflix and Hulu!

Curious,  If you were driving to the ship would they let you drive home?  Hope you recover with out any issues.  Netflix has some great shows.  Happy Viewing.

Yes, the ship's Doctor stated that if we lived nearby the port, we could have isolated at home.
