dgoz Posted February 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I've watch vloggers take a run through the expansive oceanview cafe. What are the best offerings? What should a skip? I read somewhere to make sure to ask for fresh eggs at breakfast, but don't know much else.

The bad thing about them is the food isn't usually hot enough.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2022 The Indonesian food is wonderful. 4
Rare DCPIV Posted February 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I agree with skipping the Mexican food. It's not Mexican, and it's barely food. I also agree with getting fresh eggs. Everything else is rather good. The Indian food is outstanding. 4

Rare PTC DAWG Posted February 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I like their pasta station...you mainly choose the kind of dish you want, they prepare it right there, always hot and spot on.
Dk-cruiser Posted February 8, 2022 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I especially love the orange chicken and broccoli beef they serve in the India/Asia part of the buffet. Does anyone know how to make orange chicken in the nearly the same way, as they do in the OceanView café? Unfortunately that chicken dish is not on the lunch buffet more than 2 times a week 😞

Had it been a regular thing, I'm sure I would have found it and had a very nice meal.
George C Posted February 8, 2022 #12 Share Posted February 8, 2022 Pizza is fairly good , almost always get a couple of slices .
Rare CruisinCrow Posted February 8, 2022 #13 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I love the fresh pasta station. And the "real" hand-dipped ice cream (not soft serve). The cinnamon ice cream is amazing.
r2h2 Posted February 8, 2022 #14 Share Posted February 8, 2022 Ocean view cafe on last sea day of cruise is wonderful for lunch. Filet Mignon, fresh salmon, and a very nice roast round out a carnivors delight!
m8zenblue Posted February 8, 2022 #15 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I love most of the items in the buffet, but... Avoid the pre made scrambled eggs. Avoid the carved roast beef, very fatty and tough. Avoid the pre made bacon, greasy and undercooked. Avoid the Southern fried chicken, its defiantly not southern, coated with a weird cheesy mixture and baked. 1

Chanbre Posted February 8, 2022 #17 Share Posted February 8, 2022 Watch the Ocean View Cafe's evening meal entry in the dailies. They often have specials (they had them on our past cruises). Often the special would celebrate the recent port stop. We have had Russian caviar in St Petersburg, German sausages in Warnemunde, lovely fish from some ports. 1
lola2013 Posted February 8, 2022 #18 Share Posted February 8, 2022 I love the stir fry station. It was only available on Reflection once during my ten nights last month...so glad I found it when I did. My only suggestion to Celebrity at that station would be to offer bean sprouts.
MarKay525 Posted February 8, 2022 #19 Share Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) IMHO, you can skip most of the beautifully presented baked desserts. (And I LOVE desserts!) Cakes, etc. look really pretty, but have little flavor. Save your calories for the goodies at Cafe al Bacio. On the M and S class ships, there are sometimes desserts at the we-scoop-it-for-you ice cream station, and those are usually good, especially when topped with ice cream. 😄 If you have a beverage package, it's worth it to request orange juice from the bar. Be sure to check out the goodies at the Spa Cafe as well. Hope you enjoy your first Celebrity cruise. jagoffee Posted February 8, 2022 #20 Share Posted February 8, 2022 English back bacon and waffles are two of my favorite breakfast items. Salads (including egg salad), Panini’s, and the special Fish and Chios are my favorites for lunch. We have never found it very enjoyable for dinner. Rare Jim_Iain Posted February 8, 2022 #21 Share Posted February 8, 2022 We were on Millennium in October and one afternoon they had British Day at Ocean View. They had Pot Pies - Beef, Chicken and Vegetable. We both agreed they were the best Pot Pies we have ever had. We will be keeping our eyes out for them on our next cruises. 6
Northern Aurora Posted February 8, 2022 #22 Share Posted February 8, 2022 In 2016 we were on a B2B2B2B which included a Norwegian fjords itinerary. Some of the sail outs were in long fjords and so we had dinner several times in the Ocean View so we wouldn't miss the scenery. We were pleasantly surprised as we thought the buffet was much improved. One night creme brûlée was featured. Various flavors and the topping was melted in front of you with a torch. Absolutely wonderful. And on the Millennium last September we had lunch one port day at the Ocean View and found the wonderful ceviche station. No and I like it crispy so I just look at it each day and decide. Some days it is cooked well, other days it's not.
daydreamer16 Posted February 9, 2022 #24 Share Posted February 9, 2022 My husband always likes the Indian food. I love the salad bar, so many choices. I hate when I have to go home & cut up all my own stuff! I think the chicken & tuna salad are good too!
