Fun uses for onboard credit - besides spa?

I can’t answer your question, as I have no context. Any of our FCC that went unused by the deadline was refunded to us by check automatically.

I used up my FCC (but the cruise has not yet sailed).  Interesting that Princess would be willing to part with the FCC past due (expiration deadline) and return it in a check.  I would have thought they would hold you hostage and just extend the deadline.  Good to know.  Good for you.

Unless, @Kmkub meant FCD and not FCC. ???

Thanks for the suggestions!

I didn’t realize OBC could offset any room charge - I thought you had to specifically use it for a transaction.   That should make it easier.  And I definitely didn’t realize you could use it in the casino.  They already gave us casino credits, so I assumed the OBC had to be used for other things.

Formal photos is a really good idea.  We’re going with my (88 y.o.) Mom, so hopefully we can plan something for one of the formal nights.

turning our DD loose in the gift shop would be a baaaad idea though!  Last time onboard, we told her she could pick two things.  She found LARGE bags of candy, and stuck to her guns that we said she could pick!  😂

at least one of the ships we sailed on in January had appointments with a photographer to meet & take photos around the ship with your family...no sitting charge you just paid for the photos you liked...this might get you some great photos with your mom & the little one?

also if you use the same CC for all the room charges then it will allow you to "share" the onboard credit among your entire group

While not necessarily in the category of "FUN" we always allow Princess to take out our daily gratuities. That comes off the top then the rest of the OBC we consider real "FUN" spending.

We will have Princess Plus and the Crew will automatically be receiving the gratuities. Even if we did not have Princess Plus, we NEVER have them removed from our account and also tip "extra" in cash when we choose to do so.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered multiple times on other threads.  Can Shareholder's OBC be used to cover the daily gratuities on board?  It's been so long since I last cruised Princess that I just can't remember!

Absolutely! The easiest way to do it is simply let Princess take it out daily out of your OBC beginning with the non-refundable. Once that is gone they will simply move on to the refundable dollars. We never pay for gratuities up front before the cruise. Letting them take it out of our OBC on a daily basis is just easier and more efficient and that includes the Shareholder's OBC. Then if you run out of funds in your account they simply charge it to  your credit card which is on file.  Easy Peese.

As @Bwana Tomstated...yes to daily grats AND anything else you do on board (with the exception of buying FCDs). Not sure about jewelry stores - never even walked in the door.

Wait... Say what???  Princess switched one of my FCD to FCC and it says I have to book by, and use by, the end of this year. Are you saying that, even though it is now FCC it will be refunded if not used by the deadline?

It actually is supposed to be returned to your credit card after it's expiration date, not switched to FCC.  You can call and ask them to return to your cc if that's what you prefer.

My FCD hadn't expired and... I'm not certain what I said is what happened. I had a bunch of FCD that had finally expired because so many cruises had been cancelled. I suddenly showed 1 FCD and 1 FCC. I really have no idea why I suddenly have the FCC. A bunch of cruises were cancelled. I asked for some FCD to be extended. Suddenly I had a bunch of FCD refunded to my credit card and then I had 1 FCD and 1 FCC. I can't figure out where the FCC came from other than "thinking" it "must" be another FCD that was converted. I apologize for stating specifically that it was a FCD that was converted to FCC. I truly can't figure out any other reason that the FCC "appeared" in my account. I did have other FCD that I specifically asked to have returned to my account when my cruise was cancelled.

I made an "assumption" because I simply can't figure out any other reason the FCC appeared in my account. I currently have a cruise booked for May 2nd and specifically asked my TA to try to have the FCC applied to my final payment (which recently came due) but it didn't happen so I still have the FCC that says, "Cruise with Confidence Book by 12/31/22 and Sail By 12/31/22".

I don't know the future and am not certain I "Sail by" the specified date. My wife had a knee replaced and is having the other one replaced March 1st. I have recently gone from a walker to a can and now walk without a cane but am not at all convinced I won't go backward in my situation. I just don't want to lose $200 ($100 each) due to COVID and also to Princess not knowing what is going on.

Note: I don't blame Princess for not knowing what is going on but don't want to subsidize their indecision.

I do isn’t know that was available - definitely a good suggestion, Thanks!

uh oh - if I get flowers for Mom, I’m gonna have to get them for my wife too!  🙂

Here are some examples since the restart. These ranged in price from $39-$59

Go to the guest services desk upon boarding to order them. They have come in 24-48  hours in my experience.

Those are really nice arrangements - especially price considered.  Definitely looks like I need to head to the services desk right after we get onboard, and order one for each room.  Thanks!

Hubby always buys me flowers once we board, and they have always lasted a long time.  Well worth the money!

Is the FCC listed as refundable?

If not, it could be a "bonus" FCC from a cancelled cruise.
