I cannot fathom a society in which opinions are frowned on.

At best you will be dismissed these days.  Next step is you are baselessly mislead.  Then you are an extremist like those parents concerned for their children future.  What a world we are switching to...

There are a lot of airborne viruses that can make people very sick or worse that no one thinks twice about while boarding.

Not true ... no one even thinks once.

Don't you think if Royal's goal was profiting from these tests that they would require them as the only acceptable ones?

Also, all the link does on the Royal site is take you to the Optum and Emed sites that existed long before Royal starting providing the info.  It's the same exact sites they were before Royal starting providing it to cruisers which you could access without Royal's help.

Why is it baseless?  Prove it, These big cruise lines don't do anything if there isn't a buck in it for them. Wake up.

In this country, it's up to the prosecution to make its case not the defendant. There are reasons for this. It's easy to make an accusation. It's much harder to defend against it. If someone has proof that the cruise lines get a kick back from these tests. It will no longer be baseless. This is why there is a thing called investigative reporting and having reputable sources, otherwise anyone can just spout off the top of their heads without regard.

Keep in mind that the cruise lines also need to follow the port countries directions or they won't be able to stop there. So even if the CDC changes direction, other countries might be delayed...

More and more European countries are skipping all restrictions.

Denmark did some weeks ago. We took a beating (sky rocketing numbers of infected), but not many went to hospitals which is what really counts.

This week the recommendations says you don't have to test kids and teachers in schools twice a week anymore as have been the norm for ages.

Unfortunately, foreign ports of call make the rules for the people entering their country. This testing requirement is not a choice the lines make in a bubble.

They have outside entities that force their hands. It is what it is. No matter our opinions or feelings.

We can advocate for change in our own country at the ballot box, but we have little influence on foreign governments outside of our tourist dollars.

If their testing requirements is seen to be detrimental to the tourist dollars coming in and the risk to their population has waned to a point they are comfortable with, that is when we will see those requirements change, followed by the lines testing requirements, in sync with each other.

While I agree with you...think of the logistics and timing.  We depart on May 15 out of Galveston.  Currently, we have to take a test no more than 2 days prior to boarding (Sunday).  Since we will be driving down to Galveston area on Saturday, we will take our antigen test on Friday.  Monday is a sea day.  So when we hit the first port, our negative test will be 4 days old.  Isn't that outside the time frame of almost every country?  RCI could drop the negative test requirement and have testing (at our expense) at boarding.  That would be inside the window for the first port.

I just looked at the updated guidelines, and testing once on board is not mentioned.  Therefore the test results will be almost a week old for the last port.

But sailing with 100% crew vaccinated and 95% passengers vaccinated and most of the 5% being kids under 12 (or maybe under 5, now), time since last test doesn't matter.  Most ports (Grand Cayman being a exception) take the ship's word.  Now if infections reported on board rise above 1% some ports will not permit you to dock there.  And that's the key.

As long as the CDC pushes testing so will cruise ships.  And that'll probably be until the Biden Administration runs out of tests which it is attempting to distribute to every one via the Post Office but ignoring the private sector distribution.  And those "free tests" aren't recognized by the cruise lines.

Apples to oranges.

Denmark is 81.5% fully vaccinated

The US barely scrapes 60% at 61.7%

People are always trying to say "Look what Europe is doing."  The US lags significantly in vaccination rate from Europe. If people had the same attitude about vaccination that the Europeans did, we could have nice things too.

I think they will drop the testing requirement when the definition of fully vaccinated (per CDC) includes the booster.
I think they will drop the test for those have had the booster within a specified amount of time…(6 months?🤔)

It seems like the last variable that hasn’t been baked in.

Think about this for a moment though... you'd need to show you got a booster within the last six months (before a cruise).  That's going to be a lot of cards.  I mean if the vaccine "wears off" in six months, doesn't it stand to reason the booster (same formula) does also?
