Man Overboard on Apex?

Just got a text from someone on the Apex.  They just stopped and are turning around and everyone is looking over the edge.  He's trying to find out what happened. Anyone on board with more info?

Looks like it’s a rescue. The coast guard is en route to take them.

The Apex is close to Cuba right now, is it possible that it is rescuing someone trying to escape Cuba in a boat?

If you're looking at the free version, that data is a day old. Apex is near the coast of Cuba in the Florida Straights arriving back to FLL in the morning.

word on the ship is that they were Cubans in the raft (makes sense).  They are apparently on board now.

Yea I saw her turn around on cruise mapper and heading toward Florida.   Wondering if they will go into Key West or all the way back to FLL

I was wondering the same thing if indeed if they are refugees.   

 

Was wondering if they needed medical attention as the reason to return or if having  potentially vaccinated on the ship would have prohibited them from docking at their next port.

The ship is obligated to help those in distress. These individuals were 50 miles from land in a raft. They will be brought to safety and then returned to their home country. The ship returns to Florida tomorrow morning where “Buck the CDC” is the guidance, so Vaccination guidelines, etc clearly do not matter there!

But are they put in isolation while on the ship?  A couple of cases of COVID could wreck some havoc on an otherwise Covid free ship.

From information from elsewhere, the Apex was met at sea by the USCG, who took the refugees from the ship.

What jackpot? whether via the USCG or the ship docking they would be headed back to Cuba.

My nephew who is on the ship, said it was cuban refugees and they were picked up safely.

87 % of Cuba is fully vaccinated, they were probably tested once on board
