My wife just tested positive today.....

Sorry to hear that, hope for a speedy recovery!  I had it in January, mostly cold symptoms, moderate cough, lasted for 5 days but overall was not awful, hope your wife recovers quickly!

Certainly doesn't sound like fun, but the world can't shut down because of those symptoms.

Sorry to hear about anyone with Covid.  Hope it’s over soon.   I guess the world keeps going.  Celebrity keeps sailing and testing pax.

Anyone know, how long after getting over Covid can you be tested?

I don’t want the world to shut down either but you can’t forget about the 1,300 Americans still dying from Covid each day. Not everyone just gets a cold. You never know how you’ll be affected.

Really?  Where did you hear that?  Maybe "with" not "from."

I think it varies by person. I continued to test positive on PCR tests several weeks after recovery, and for all I know I might still test positive.  I had to get a letter from my doctor stating I was recovered for the cruise we went on in late February (not a Celebrity cruise). That being said, I had no trouble passing two antigen tests, one for initial boarding and one for return to USA.

The numbers are published in most newspapers and are compiled from state health department statistics. They’re not imaginary but certainly some of you will be sure to say it’s fake news. Whatever. Live in your bubble.

Not sure where the 1,297 number comes from, but our most recent 'contribution' from Colorado is 3.

In my state of MA, they announced a few days ago that COVID deaths were being revised down by 4000+.  I am not a COVID denier in any way shape or form, and will not go into the details here, it can be easily researched on Google, but just found it very interesting.

I don't think the numbers are fake, but the most likely to die from COVID are the elderly (by a huge margin) and those with one or more existing illnesses/conditions. The numbers aren't useful without some interpretation.

I’m all for moving on without restrictions but by now I’m pretty sure we all know otherwise relatively healthy people who have gotten long Covid or have died from Covid.
I won’t be in denial and liken Covid to a cold. Maybe you got cold symptoms, or no symptoms like I did, but not everyone has been, or will be, so lucky. I can’t wait for my cruise!

It is certainly a good sign that the mask-wearing protocols are gradually becoming more freedom of choice. We will continue to wear masks on specific occasions, including when cruising, whether required or not. For us, for now, that gives us a warm-tummy-feeling and has never been unacceptably uncomfortable.

Moreover, not having to contend with all the aimless drivel and meaningless banter thrown about by non-medical as well as medical folks is a welcome reprieve. There were several threads that added benefit, education and information to the Covid crisis, including meaningful disagreement. Then, there were the others. If I had to choose to wear a mask or continue to be privy to those others, I’m donning the mask.

Hi Ho Silver, Away.

Numbers are interesting but how many cases are asymptomatic? How many of the deaths is directly caused by Covid or from other sources but the individual was positive for Covid? What % of daily cases go to the intensive care now?

my renal specialist said the incubated cases has incredibly decreased now due to the vaccine. Many positive cases he said now are only discovered by patients in for other procedures who are routinely tested for Covid. Gross numbers may not tell the entire story.
