Look... I don't care if you cruise or not. But the fact remains you have choices. Like the rest of the world things in the cruise industry is beginning to get back to normal. Cruise ships are getting back to a normal passenger levels. Thank God. So yes... either stay home or book a smaller cruise ship. Whether you want to hear this or experience this, these are your options.  Duh!

Yep, thanks!

Yes, really. It is about cruise vacation planning and chat. Fun Stuff? :classic_biggrin: I don't know why people need to get to so hostile and snarky sometimes.  :classic_rolleyes::classic_biggrin: Other than adult beverages are probably involved. :classic_tongue:

Thanks. I didn't realize the question was only asking for OP. And I thought it was "would you consider canceling..." But, that having been said, I still think anyone should be able to express an opinion without being told to "stay home, buy an RV, etc." Many posters seem to rush to jump on any any comment they do not agree with. This is supposed to be a forum to help each and answer questions -- not to attack. But I appreciate your opinion and am sorry if I angered you by responding to a question you posted to someone else. Thank you for explaining.

I am not angry, though I thought you seemed angry and sarcastic in some of your responses on this thread.  Tone is often misinterpreted, so perhaps that is all it is.  I have no objection to your unsolicited response or anybody else’s unsolicited response on these boards.  As far as I am concerned, more thoughts and opinions are  good.

I do not think anyone intends any offense, though I sincerely think the days of markedly reduced passenger counts are largely behind us.  Thus, I think anyone booking a cruise now should do so envisioning a full/nearly full capacity sailing.

Where are you guys getting figures on capacity from?

Future sailing numbers are just a wild guess - even RCI doesn't know since many could be denied boarding. Current sailing capacity numbers are usually announced at the top tier event.

Just got off the Odyssey on Sunday, we sailed at 92% capacity, this weeks sailing is over 100%.  I am going to be honest and some may disagree, but it was not as great an experience.  I know the lines need larger capacities to make a profit, but their were not enough deck chairs or activities on board for that many people.  Long lines for or reservations required, never did get to to iFly or the Zone Zero.

Got spoiled with 50% capacity on our last few cruises.  I would personally pay more to have fewer passengers on board, but we may be in the minority.

On an unrelated note, I wish the "Chair Hogs" would have to walk the plank.  I would be up early to go to the fitness center and at 7am there was plenty of chairs, but at 8:30 after my workout and before breakfast, every chair was "claimed" with a towel/boo/etc.  They they would be unoccupied for hours.

After 30 minutes and they are not there, aren't you allowed to remove their things and claim the chair?

I have seen the results of this first hand.  The deck attendants had removed the items as the folks had not been there in over 90 minutes.  So after the items were cleared we took the now empty seats, 20 minutes later the previous squatter showed up and let me have it for moving there things.  I tried to explain I did no such thing, but she was having none of it, she went into a rage and started cussing and poking me.  I explained to her if she touched me again I would get security involved, and thankfully a ship office happened to be walking by and escorted the "friendly" passenger away.

People are crazy, so I am not going to attempt that move, I have asked a deck attendant to do there job and have items removed that were left for a long period of time.  I do this just to see the response when the owner returns, it really turns into a great unannounced show for all the nearby passengers that was not on the agenda for the day. 🙂

Why do people say stuff like this?  This statement is completely false by any and all metrics.

Spread your fear mongering fake news somewhere else.

One of my employees was in Jamaica at an AI… he and his wife tested positive, and are now stuck in Jamaica.  I can’t imagine the AI will let them stay in their suite, but surely they are going to isolate them somewhere, a bit less nice.

Talk about a basic travel fear in the age of Covid.  🤣

I would definitely ask the deck attendant to do it. You're right.  People are crazy and entitled.

Kind of like telling someone if they don't like the price of gas right now, they should walk.

Sorry, we've listened to the Nervous Nellie's long enough.

If you can't handle being back to the normal we didn't question three years ago, then go buy an RV where you can vacation socially distanced to your hearts desire.... or stay home.

The problem is that it is not the same "normal" we didn't question three years ago.... it is the old numbers, sure, but without being prepared for the return to full capacity in terms of staff, service quality, common area capacity, food quality and quantity, entertainment venues, the list goes on and on.  And there are way more vacation opportunities besides cruising and RV's, or staying home.

It’s quite simple: if you don’t agree with the current protocols, don’t cruise.

I am not sure how this statement, which is a given, responds to the questions......maybe you intended to reply to a different post?

Hmmm. This would be the time to say "You're welcome for the unsolicited Thanks".

I would hope that all thanks are unsolicited 😉
