Liberty casino cashier - sharing single widows w/two guests...

I popped into the casino for about 45 minutes last night to play some last minute blackjack. I had an unusual streak of good luck, and walked (almost ran) away a few thousand up.

When I got to the cage/cashier, they motioned us up there before another person was finished. I hesitated, but the person left after perhaps 10 seconds. I placed 11 purple chips on the counter, and gave them my card. Before they could even start counting out the cash in multiple rows, they motioned forward the fellow behind me. So, we're sitting there at a single window - sharing the space, and all this cash is getting spread out. I mentioned to the cashier that I felt this was not appropriate (being a somewhat "private" transaction), but was just met with a "hmmmm" kind of response. I then spoke up to the manager behind him and mentioned that this was just not right - saying something along the lines of "this is nothing about this fellow (to my side), but I don't think it's appropriate to have this kind of transaction being a shared event". I was not being loud or rude, only factual and direct. Again, no reply/action - they just looked at me like I was an troublemaker.

I understand that it's especially busy in there on the last night, and that they're just trying to keep the lines/waiting down - but there were probably only 3-4 others in line, and they had the other window open as well (doing double duty there too). I liken it to being at a bank window, and I'm sharing that with some stranger next to me...

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for the responses.

I looked back and noticed that I typed WIDOWS instead of WINDOWS in the thread title. What a difference a single dropped letter can make...

I was expecting a story about a staff member getting caught in a tryst with a few passengers😔

I agree that this is totally inappropriate.

This isn't a S&S overage. Carnival can't legally operate a casino by mail by cashing out chips through the US mail.

Hmm. Okay. I play slots and the surplus ends up on you S&S card. Yes, Carnival sends a check for that.

Never seen that done before.  I (as a female) would have definitely felt that this was inappropriate and would have been very uncomfortable - especially walking away with a large amount of cash. Cashing out should be private.   I would definitely shoot the player's club an email explaining what happened.  That practice should be stopped immediately.

I don’t normally play in the casino but did take my $25 fun play and won in a slot machine. I assumed it would be credited to my S&S account and didn’t pay detailed attention to my statements. We had a LOT of OBC on this cruise. I was surprised just yesterday to receive a check from the casino dept. This is the check stub from this transaction which clearly shows casino refund. So, I don’t know about past ot future but I know that I did get money I wasn’t expecting. Used it to put a down payment on another cruise.

I could be wrong but I believe unless you transfer your winnings to your card it will not go in your account. The minute you cash out with a voucher it will not appear on your account. That voucher is like cash it would not also be deposited you your sail and sign it must be cashed in.

I think you're still missing the fact that the original poster played a table game and had chips to cash in. Carnival isn't going to send him a check for chips he doesn't redeem at the cage.

I missed nothing. I overlooked it! 🙂

But he does seem to cruise frequently and would only purchase more chips next time.

Tom,

I had a similar experience on I believe the Liberty a few years back, posted about it  on these boards and got LAMBASTED  for it.

  • Why am I complaining when I at least had a nice hit/payout
  • Have them send you a check and stop complaining
  • Quietly mention it to the Casino Manager and they would have taken care of it instead of you coming the boards and complaining

I felt it was a private transaction and you never know who is lerking around us being on a gals trip and all

  • You shouldn't cruise if you feel that unsafe
  • No one would EVER do anything hanis, there are cameras everywhere

GOT TO LOVE THESE BOARDS!!

I’d tell the guy behind me to step away.  if that didn’t work, then I would try telling  the employee to get someone else higher up or walked away.

I won a couple thousand once on a slot machine on Elation and I was extremely nervous about getting cash and nobody was even standing near me.

I would have been furious.

You are correct. Most folks on here are helpful and share information but a few just come here to put down others and feel superior even if it means putting words into your mouth that they can attack.

The same scenario on the Freedom last week. No one other than me though it was inappropriate.

I was on the Freedom last week (3/20-3/26) and had 3 hand pays I had to go up to the cage and get the cash. First two times nobody was at the cage to worry about but the third time there was a line and they tried to call the person up behind me and I stood right in the middle of the window and made them wait. Told the casino host after if they want to do 2 at a time open the other window so people could have a private transaction.
