Hi All, I am a total casino newbie and have a family member going on the Apex soon who saw that they can pre-purchase a slots or table games package in their cruise planner at a discount - but they are wanting to know what this package includes and I can't seem to find an answer? Is it a set amount of slot plays or chips for that price? does anyone know how many you get? Thank you in advance!

I have only used the table play promo.  I can explain how that works.  I don't understand the "scam" comment someone else made.  I think the table play promo is a nice option when you have lots of OBC and don't want to struggle to find things to spend it on.  Let's say you buy 2 packages for $100, when you go to the casino cashier, you get $110 in promo chips.  You can only play them, you can't cash them in directly.  So you play, let's say blackjack, and you bet $5 with a promo chip.  If you lose, the chip goes away.  If you win, you get paid with a real chip.  So you can set the real chip aside and keep playing the promo chip until you lose it.  You run through your whole pile of promo chips that way, and you end up with real chips.  Maybe you end up with $80 or $90, or maybe you end up with $130 or $140, depending on your luck at the table.  But either way you have laundered your promo chips into real money.

You basically get chips / credit that you must lose. I won’t get scammed again by that!

All you have to do is 'wrinse' them through once.  All winnings can be cached out.  Play it all on roulette and odds are you'll get most of it back.

I don't understand the "scam" comment either. Have not gotten this package, but many times have used OBC in the casino. Promo chips to play, real chips if you win, then cash out whatever "real" chips you end up with. I usually loose most, but hey, if I only  win a few dollars, I'm still ahead!  Love gambling with their money.

Roulette has the worst real world odds of any game in the casino.

How are you gambling with their money if they are only giving you $5 for every $50?? That's not much of a deal.

You must bet them, not lose them. If you place one bet with the $55 in promo chips and put it all on black and win, you're done. You have $110 in clean chips that you can cash out.

I love this option, I like to gamble and rather not take a extra 600 or 700 in cash on the cruise with me , so I always buy at least 500 in chips on every cruise. Last cruise I bought 600 so they gave me 660 in chips. Yes you must play them , when you win they give you regular chips that can be cashed in. I have 800 in OBC for next cruise will most likely spend 700 on casino chips.

If your plan is to gamble in the casino regardless, being up 10% before you even start is a good deal.

And requires no skill.  Craps is probably the best return if you stay away from the proposition bets, but I assume no skill level.

Roulette certainly better than all of the electronic games for return, no matter 0 or 00.

I think it would be a good deal if they gave your money you gave them in real chips, and the 10% "bump" in promo chips.  I'm not giving them REAL cash for their promo chips.  I did it once..not again.

I don't buy the $55 for $50 offer. I withdraw non-refundable ship OBC and gamble with that. That is their money.  We usually have a lot of ship OBC, so that is a fun way to spend it.

Uh, you can buy the offer with non refundable OBC precruise.

I have read in the past that you do not earn tier points on these.  Not sure just passing that possibility along.

I just got off of Equinox and all of my play was with Promo slot play.  I earned points from the first spin.  Maybe I didn't earn on the 10% bonus but that would be hard to tell.  I earned almost 6000 points during that cruise.  I was also told by the Casino host what you earn on the machine is multiplied by 5 for tier credits.

thought the limit was TEN $50 packages for tables for $500 max (+$50 free)?

correct, sort of.

you have $500 chips + $50 free from buying TEN $50 tables.

you gets points for every bet.

You go on a winning streak.

you finally lose all $550 and have $2000 in real chips in front of you.

the dealer inputs $550 as promo chips into the computer. What ever points you earned, subtract $550.

I was in Las Vegas with the wife last year and I received $150 in promo chips for sitting through a sales pitch. I played Pai Gow for a couple of hours (one of my favorite games) and I basically laundered the promo chips into real chips by losing the promotional chips and winning real chips. After a couple of hours of fun play, I walked away from the table with $150 in real chips and I cashed them in. 🙂

No, you have $55 in promo chips and $55 in chips you can cash out. Welcome to the scam, keep playing it on black until you lose them. You never "clean" them.

To help explain it to others, doing it this way requires you to take on more risk. lets say you bet 500 on roulette on black in normal chips, boom you win and walk away with 1000 in your pocket. very happy!.. with promo chips you play your chips and win 500 and still only have 500 in real money, you must play again and hope to get another 500 to have 1000 in real money. You also must lose the 500 in promo chips, you cannot cash them in. It's additional risk!!

Not quite sure why people think this is a scam. If you decide you are going to spend 50 bucks at the casino then this will give you an extra 5 to play with. As it goes for the slots, they will load 50 plus 5 credits on your casino card. Yes you have to play these credits and cannot cash them. If you go to a machine and spend 5 dollars of these credits and happen to win anything, you can hit cash out and collect a ticket for the cash you won and then move to another machine with the remaining credits. My wife and I do this and then on the last night of the cruise we cash in all our tickets and take the money and run. Sometimes up, sometimes down for the cruise.

Its called gambling, you have to decide how much you want to lose and take advantage of these offers for a few extra spins.

I believe in the cruise planner it is a maximum of $500.  But I just got off the Equinox and they offered the same promo the first 2 nights and they allowed up to $2000 per night.
