Thanks to all for the great Daily today. I always look forward to reading, even though I don't manage to post every day.  It is a funny weather day today here in far Western Colorado--cloudy, sunny, windy, rain forecasted, and then back and forth between all variations!  Except no rain!

@StLouisCruisers, I am loving the pictures of Tasmania.  That part of the world is on my bucket list of places to travel--just have to figure out when.

@mamaofami, I love your habit of 3 things to be thankful for.  We all could adopt that, as I am sure that it puts you in a better frame of mind for the whole day.

Today I am in the process of doing paperwork to be accepted as a Red Cross volunteer at our local VA.  I am really excited about this new opportunity.  Of course, it is the federal government, so it is a lot of stuff to be completed.  I feel this is another way that I can give back to the community as that is where my DH spent the last 10 months of his life.  Of course, I will still be doing my regular disaster work, also.

@smitty34877, good luck with the doctor appointment today for Tana.  You and your family remain in my prayers.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good afternoon, Everyone.

We were in Tasmania back in 2015.  @StLouisCruisers, thank you for the wonderful photos of Port Arthur.  It’s a lovely and interesting place to visit.  We did rent a car and for anyone visiting the area, The Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is excellent.  Here’s a nod to the Tasmanian devils and kangaroos.

We don’t meditate in the garden often, but when we do, this is the  place.   We affectionately call it our “wine perch” because we saw that on a real estate brochure one time.  Everyone needs a wine perch, right?

Teachers are our heroes; lumpy rugs a pain.  Hominy is one of the few things I don’t care for, so pass on that.

We’ve been rearranging future travel plans, trying to use a crystal ball, and we yesterday put a deposit down on Grand Africa for 2023.

It has the adrenaline boost we seem to be looking for.

Thanks, everyone, for all the contributions here.  My heart is very heavy for Jacqui.  Thoughts and prayers are with all.  Enjoy the rest of the day.  😊

To me, all you posted was that you found it and did not disclose a bit of personal information.  I see no problem with that whatsoever.

What I was trying to say is it is possible that Jacqui didnt want his funeral info made public because she didnt post it here herself.  No harm was done because she eventually gave permission later.

Cruise Critic has not been liking me lately.  But just try and keep me away!  Thanks, @gigianne, Georgina, for the information on Jose's obituary.   And the time.  I had been thinking it was a four-hour difference between us.  Our DD in Gander is 4 1/2!

Hope all goes well with Tana's appointment today.  DS is back at work, so they can come off the Care List, Roy, @rafinmd, and they are going to come over this afternoon with puppy Oskar.  We'll all stay masked, though, I imagine!  We checked today about booster shots, and were told the province will notify us when we can get them.  I'm hoping for later this month, or early June.  They said either Pfizer or Moderna will do - Moderna will be a half dose, but Pfizer, the full dose.  What has everyone here done?

I would love to be able to meditate in a garden.  But I'm afraid my hands always get itchy to start rooting around and pulling up weeds or some other garden chore.   I do miss my larger garden now that all I have is a small flower bed beside the driveway and an even smaller herb bed around the corner.  I haven't been to Tasmania, thanks to Covid, so will add some photos of my old garden.

@Vict0riann Oh my, what lovely gardens you had. A lot of work!

So, we're under a tornado watch. Hopefully it's nothing more than strong winds and rain.

I made an appointment with NTB (National Tire & Battery) for Thursday. From some reading I think it's the tires that need to be replaced. They will also do a brake check, as I'd read it could be a brake pad stuck to a rotor. Or the CV joints, whatever that is. Anyway, I'm due for tires per my last inspection. The ones on there were pricey performance ones; now that I'm retired and don't drive that much, I don't think I need ones that fancy.

Vanessa, let's hope the tornadoes are no shows tonight!  Good luck at the NTB.  Tires are expensive enough, but I hope it's not CV joints.  Seems like I remember paying for a few of them over the years and it wasn't that cheap!

I sure hope it isn't the CV joints, as it sounds like you will need tires in the not too distant future anyway.  I think some cars are designed to use very specific tires and they are often the expensive ones.  I hope you do have a suitable affordable tire.

Hello dailyites.  I was just speaking with Jacqui (Kazu) and she has given me the okay to post a link to José's obituary.  The funeral home will be live-streaming the service on Thursday morning.  There is a link on their website if you would like to be with Jacqui virtually.  She asked me to let you all know that she will be back with you in good time.  As a good friend of Jacqui and José, I would like to thank all of you for continued support of her during this sad time, I know that she truly appreciates all of you on this thread.https://kennebecasisfh.com/tribute/details/28422/Jos-Ledezma/obituary.html#tribute-start

Thank you.  Georgina

Greetings

I have not been able to post all day because we have had no internet service.  This has been an never ending source of frustration.

Anyway we had a beautiful day and spent part of the day wandering around Monte Carlo.  Did not go to the Casino so all my money is in tact.

On our way to Livorno.  We have a private tour for just the two of us with Rome Cabs.

Did some packing today so that I am not trying to get it all done tomorrow night.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Thank you for the daily and all those who are here.

Just doing a little last minute downloading before heading off to Vancouver to catch our cruise tomorrow, HAL Zuiderdam.  Have completed all the apps, with a minimum of cursing.  The drive over the boarder tomorrow from Bellingham should be relatively easy and then we can take our time getting to Canada Place.

Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine and our Daily family members.  Special prayers for those who have lost loved ones, @kazu Jacqui and @cat shepard, Ann.

Are you taking a bus or driving from Bellingham to Vancouver?  We're looking at flying into Bellingham since SW doesn't fly into Vancouver, but wasn't sure best way to get there!

I am sharing the tornado watch with you, Vanessa.  Let's hope we are both safe.  Ours goes to 9:00 pm, how about yours?

I had the same thump thump thump problem several cars ago and new tires solved it.  Here is a description of a faulty CV joint:  The most common symptoms of a bad CV joint are the clicking, popping, and clunking sounds it makes when decelerating or accelerating. Vibration when driving is also a common symptom. You might find grease on the car's underside caused by a torn boot leaky oil.

We went from a tornado watch to a warning! I was ready to head to the basement if need be, but they just let the warning expire, but still a watch. And severe storm warnings, and it just started to pour rain here. Hopefully the power stays on.

Thanks for the car advice. No clicking, popping or clunking sounds. No vibration of the car. I do think it's the tires.

Your old garden was exquisite.  Same with @grapau27Graham's in England.   My next life will definitely be in a cooler place where delphiniums have a chance.

A very late good afternoon/evening from central Texas.  I think time went backwards today.  When I got up about 7:30 it was 71F, but by 9:30 or so, it was 58F.  It was also very windy and dreary.  By the weekend, we should be in the mid 90s, and that about sums up Texas weather.

Today was the day I finally cleaned the house and the motorhome.  After being gone for six months the house really needed attention.  I am not planning anything major tomorrow.

I can safely say there are no lumps under the rugs today.  There is no garden to meditate in, only two small flowerbeds.  Teachers deserve their day.  When the DDs were in high school and band, the band boosters hosted a potluck lunch in the band hall for all the teachers.

I like the quote the quote, even if forgiving can be hard.

We'll pass on the meal, drink and wine.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, thank you for the pictures of Tasmania which is still on the bucket list.

@Vict0riann Ann and @grapau27 Graham, your gardens are beautiful.

@smitty34877  Terry, I hope Tana's appointment went well.

@baltic17  Bon Voyage.  Have a great cruise.

@ger_77  Gerry, I hope you and DH feel better soon.

@JazzyV Vanessa, I glad you have an appointment to get your car looked at.

@dfish Debbie, and @JazzyV  Vaneesa, I hope you both stay safe and avoid any tornadoes.

@gigianne  Georgina, thank you for the link to Jose's obituary.

@aliaschief Thank you for the lovely pictures.

@cruzn single   Using your Red Cross training at the VA is a great idea.

@mamaofami  Carol, i believe that by posting an obituary in a newspaper, the family wants people to know the funeral arrangements and about their loved one.  While I don't know how it works in Canada, in the US, it is now the practice for the family or funeral home to pay to place the obituary in the public domain (newspaprer).  If a family does not want the information made public, then, they do not submit an obit.  Since @1ANGELCAT only used Jose’s first name and the name of the newspaper, I don't think she violated anyone's privacy.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Now, I better start dinner.

I stand by my previous comment. Jacqui posted on Facebook to her friends there. If and when she wanted to make the information available to us here she would have and she did that when she gave permission. It really depends on how you look at things, but I think it's crossing a boundary for someone else to post her funeral arrangements here. Don' misunderstand. No problem if you look it up for yourself. But posting it here before she said it was OK is in my humble opinioin not the right thing to do. Anyone who wanted that information for themselves could also have looked it up.
