bgoff60 Posted June 15, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2022 Cruising in mid-October. Our go to hotel (Embassy Suites on 17th street) is sold out for that date range. (bummer - Loved going to Waxy's Irish pub) Any other recommendations for middle of the road, not scummy and not overly pricy. Would be flying in on the 14th - at hotel by 4 pm? and then cruise next day. Thoughts?

Best bang for one’s buck. Close to shops, bars and restaurants, with liquor stores a block or two away. Riverside also has micro rooms, being lower in price and only slightly smaller. The Riverside bars and restaurants are good, and they have a happy hour. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. Additional The micro rooms would suit, if one has a specific price point, just for one night. It is clean and comfortable Edited June 15, 2022 by PORT ROYAL Typo
DonnaK Posted June 15, 2022 #6 Share Posted June 15, 2022 When Embassy was sold out, we tried Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port, which diagonally across from Embassy connected to the same shopping plaza. It was equally as good an experience!

The other Hyatt Place in Dania Beach is nice too, but a lot further away.
loman Posted June 15, 2022 #10 Share Posted June 15, 2022 Booked the Riverside , on Las Olas Blvd . I usually fly in the day of the cruise but decided not to wake up at 2 am for the early flight and go the day before. Always wanted to see las Olas Blvd anyway , so i booked a Tower suite . Pricier , but its newer than the original part of the hotel.
ATG Posted June 15, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 15, 2022 The embassy suites is really showing it’s age. Last November we stayed there and there was a styrofoam cooler sitting in front of the elevator. I assumed someone had left it. But, it was catching a drip from the light fixture in the ceiling. Everything looked shabby and worn. But the price hadn’t gone down. We decided to find something else in the future.

RhondaC Posted June 15, 2022 #13 Share Posted June 15, 2022 The AC (by Marriott) is brand new, and at the new Dania Pointe area! They have free airport shuttle and they offer a package that includes breakfast and ride to the port in the morning!

Not worth the price they charge now, IMO. It’s a shame.
Jkaczanowski Posted June 15, 2022 #17 Share Posted June 15, 2022 Even the Hyatt Place looks like it could use some attention. We stayed there in March and the room felt a little run down. Would have been irritated if I spent “full” price - we used valuetrips.
texmex.ferr Posted June 15, 2022 #18 Share Posted June 15, 2022 We stayed at Embassy Suites in April for our TA cruise on Wonder, it is beginning to show it's age, but it's still in a good location for the cruise port, and that's probably why people keep going back. We also like Waxy's Irish pub across the street, but we found out it's changed hands since we were last there (I can't remember when that was, probably around 2016/7), and we didn't think the food was as good, the atmosphere is still great though. We had friends who stayed in the Holiday Inn Express Fort Lauderdale Cruise - Airport, which is situated on the same area as Embassy Suites one block away. If you decide to book the Holiday Inn, be wary, because there are a few Holiday Inn Expresses in that area, other friends thought they had booked the one next to Embassy suites and found out later it was miles away. lol

Diver2014 Posted June 15, 2022 #20 Share Posted June 15, 2022 We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express next to Embassy Suites when ES were sold out. Convenient, clean but no breakfast and you had to pay for parking.

Mapleleafforever Posted June 15, 2022 #23 Share Posted June 15, 2022 After many different hotel stays in FL we've settled on Hyatt Place and wish we'd done it sooner. Can't beat the location. Walking distance to everything including Publix, where you can stock up on your essentials if you don't want to bring from home. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy, can't ask for much more.
