Changes to Labadee

Recommended Posts

This has already been posted on another thread but might as well add it here, too.  The Cruise Planner ad for Barefoot Beach cabanas no longer shows the restriction of Grand Suites and Higher which seems to suggest (but no actual evidence to verify that I am aware of) that BB may no longer be exclusive to Suites and Pinns.

Funny, that is not even a valid phone number. It is missing a digit. The letter must have been written by IT.

That's one way to reduce call center volume.  🙂

A second email had the missing "8" at the end.

for us it was Harmony and Indy, and it was CROWDED even though the ships weren't even at full capacity yet.

m too. However, his job is probably much better than those of the majority, so he will probably wear the mask without complaint. Just a thought. But yeah - it's pretty miserable in that heat.

wait, you have shrimp??????

It was crowded with Anthem and Indy on Easter.  Anthem was at 80% capacity and with some 1,200 kids.  Never saw shrimps at either Coco Cay or Labadee.  Lost my Cuban sandwich at Coco as one of those vultures scooped my sandwich off my plate while I was getting napkins.😜  Sometimes, it looked like a scene for movie "The Birds."

Shrimp is served at Coco cay, at the Coco Cay Club. It’s part of the appetizer box.

Several weeks ago, our Mariner cruise stopped at Labadee. The barefoot beach lunch included both cold peeled shrimp and shrimp salad.  When recently  on Harmony and stopping at Labadee, shrimp was not  served  at barefoot Beach lunch.

Cabana's perk, and not included in the buffet for lowly Paxs.😁

Any advice for the Excersions that RCL sells for Labadee or do you real need them?

You don't need excursions but understand this is a fenced compound with a guard at the closed gate. Other than hike around in it, hang around on the beach or go in the water, or shop you can't do much of anything else without paying RCI in order to be able to do it.

This is not like a typical island port of call.

We had a BB cabana years ago pre Pin and no suite. The CL concierge set us up with it. Bigger pool of customers 😉

BB is still suites and Pins as a general rule

Some Labadee photos starting at post #97 on the link below

Thanks for the link, looking at those pics now. I see a swim up bar that I don't remember.

I'm a little confused, the beach loungers at labadee are free to use them or do you have to pay?

I'll watch for replies to this one, thanks for asking.  The last time I was in Labadee and didn't get a cabana the locals kept all the chairs in a pile and you had to ask for them and they expect a tip. I'm guessing with post covid procedures  they are trying to minimize that contact wherever possible.  I'll be curious if they do like some ball parks use to and escort you to a chair(s), do a slight wiping of the seat and then hold their hands out 🙂

I'm not so sure. We booked a barefoot cabana for our Feb 2023 cruise, and no one is Pinn or in a suite.

Waiting to get an email that they have to cancel our cabana reservation...

I use to like Labadee, but it really doesn't do much for me anymore. Kinda dumpy little beaches and nothing that appealing.  I'd love to see them juice it up a bit, but only time will tell....

Juice it up with what? Another water park? No thanks.

That is my experience, even at BB.

Kind of annoying

That has been my experience from watching. But I just grab a chair and put it where I want it. I really dislike it when one of the locals starts tailing me. I just tell them I'm all set in a pretty firm tone. They seem to soon get the message.

We are going to Labadee next week.

I see that there is a floating Aqua Park and water slide. Both of them charge a fee. I am curious if there is a time limit on either of them.

Any input is appreciated.

The chairs are already spread out and not in a pile. They also have umbrellas between 2 of them with a little table.

Maybe I'm just mean looking, but they don't follow us around. I tell them I'll let them know if we need anything and that's it.
