Love seeing your photos of Old Quebec. They are beautiful.  It is so beautiful there. We loved to just walk and walk. We were there in October when they had the most incredible Halloween decorations and displays.

Did you go to the Montmoreancy Falls?
I was particularly interested when our taxi driver guide told us that Prince Albert( Queen Victoria’s husband) built a holiday home there. He also had a residence on one of the main streets in Quebec City, which we drove past.

We have the same picture of the diner in Bar Harbor with our two kids in the front. Like you, we really enjoyed our tour with Oli too 👍. Brings back wonderful memories. We absolutely love cruising up the east coast.  Really loving all the photos - keep them coming 😉.

We did that too. As I said in a previous post, the east coast cruises are fabulous. We enjoyed going to Lexington in Boston and Newport RI (Mansion Houses were stunning). I’d repeat the itineraries again and again.

I'm willing to bet that the insane service cuts/price gouging happening at post-pandemic Disney theme parks will end up being a Harvard Business School case study in 10-15 years.

History nerd here, and I'm pretty sure Queen Victoria/Prince Albert never set foot in Canada. I think your driver meant the Duke of Kent, Queen Victoria's father. He lived in Kent House in downtown Quebec City (now the French consulate), and had a summer home by Montmorency Falls.

In my opinion, Quebec City is the perfect cruise port. So many interesting things within walking distance of the port makes visiting this port so easy. When we got off the ship I was surprised to find ourselves right next to our favorite restaurant in Quebec City (unfortunately closed on Mondays). 
Returning to the ship and going out again later is also a breeze.

Love Quebec City! Spent three nights there (splurged on the Château Frontenac) this past May celebrating a milestone birthday for me. Hope you got to Montmorency Falls, just spectacular and you can climb from the bottom to the top, or drive if mobility is an issue. Looks like you had great weather also! Amazing city for an overnight port of call.

May be for a future visit, but a few members suggested a stop at Chutes Montmorency, which indeed are very nice.

 

But, nobody said a word yet about Ile d'Orléans just across from the falls. Ile d'Orléans was home to a renowned French Canadian Poet Félix Leclerc. On the Island, the poet's home is now a museum. Also on Ile d'Orléans, you will find a world class unique "winery' making world medal winner Cream of Cassis. On the site, you can taste fortified Cream of Cassis wine, Cream of Cassis gin, Cream of Cassis vodka and other Cream of Cassis products, including even ice cream!

 

On the Ile d'Orléans, you will also find wineries ( white wines are fairly good), berry farms, quaint restaurants and little shops. The island located on the St-Lawrence offers nice views of the river.

 

Driving around the Island by car takes about 1.5 hours, so, depending on your interests and available time, it could be a nice visit.

 

P.s. I could not resist mentioning this jewel, but rest assured, I own nothing on the island.

 

So, Jim and Lain, since you seemed very interested in the Quebec area, and you travel a lot, I thought I would mention this in case you should decide to come back. ( P.s. For People with Irish Ascendance, another Island in the area is filled with history.).

We did get to the falls... We of course climbed up and down.

Next we were off too the falls.  we chose to climb up and down with great views 

Its a nice climb of about 275 feet

We did not go out to the island.  Being a holiday weekend the bridge had a 1 1/2 hour delay.  It was packed.   Instead we explored the Avenue Royal in our way back to town.

We next explored the Old Town region T the top of the hill. 
 

We  chose to walk up which is a short 10–5 minutes walk. 
 

 

We did have to stop at a couple gift shops.
