Yankeeclipper1 Posted August 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2022 A very serious question.😆 We discovered the cronuts on the Explorer in the Coffee Connection. It became my duty to retrieve one each morning with a cup and return to our cabin - before breakfast. 😋 They changed the flavors each day. Needless to say - my wife is asking me if they exist on the Mariner and the Navigator (our next several cruises)?

Our next two cruises are on Voyager and Mariner.
Portolan Posted August 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2022 They had them on Navigator in June.

GOARMY Posted August 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2022 Will check this out on Mariner--October 3rd segment, LA-LA. One more thing to look forward to. GOARMY!
Rare GeorgiaPeach51 Posted August 19, 2022 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2022 Until encountering them on our first Regent cruise on the Explorer, I never knew such culinary perfection existed! I thought of them first thing each morning when I woke! And missed them sorely when we departed. I give them 50 stars! Joanie

Guerncruising Posted August 19, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2022 Invented in America. Wouldn’t need too many on a long cruise I think.

RJ2002 Posted August 19, 2022 #11 Share Posted August 19, 2022 @Guerncruising is right... I don't need TOO many of these on a cruise. On the Explorer recently, I found them to be a little chewy and dense compared to previous cruises, but then again most of the breads and pastries on that sailing were not quite as good as I'd remembered. Maybe a new pastry chef? Will definitely give them another try next cruise.
Guerncruising Posted August 19, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2022 But don’t they look wonderful? They say “eat me”.
Rare wishIweretravelling Posted August 19, 2022 #13 Share Posted August 19, 2022 I first discovered them on a Navigator cruise, pre-covid. And they've been on my post-shutdown Navigator and Mariner cruises. I tend to scrape off the icing--it takes away from the gooey deliciousness of the rest of the pastry.
lincslady Posted August 19, 2022 #14 Share Posted August 19, 2022 They have not reached this remote part of the UK yet - I guess a cross between a croissant and a doughnut? Didn't like the look of the icing, but the rest just looks sinfully gorgeous. I daresay once per cruise could be forgiven.
Rare Gilly Posted August 19, 2022 #15 Share Posted August 19, 2022 We can buy them from a local baker here in Gloucestershire where they are known as Scruffins 🙂 (yummy too!) But they look more like a muffin than a doughnut (no hole). I think maybe croissant/muffin in our case?
califsealion Posted August 19, 2022 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2022 I haven't been on a cruise since before the pandemic, but I still fantasize about those cronuts...

I scrape off the icing on top and prefer the cinnamon ones myself.
Rare Gilly Posted August 19, 2022 #18 Share Posted August 19, 2022 @NCCruzQueen I tried one of Regent's last week on board Navigator and (sshhh!) I found it a little dry. Perhaps I needed to try another one, "just to make sure"? 😉
Guerncruising Posted August 19, 2022 #19 Share Posted August 19, 2022 @Gilly It’s always a good idea to try another one to see if it’s as good as the first one.

Rare 2012_Alaska_bound Posted August 19, 2022 #21 Share Posted August 19, 2022 I just want to give a shout out to my two favorite Regent breakfast treats: fresh mini chocolate croissants (preferably in CR) pecan sticky buns in La Verandah I discovered that CR seems to have the freshest croissants the last few days of our Navigator cruise, but the ones in Coffee Connection are usually fine to go with my daily iced latte.

Clutj Posted August 27, 2022 #23 Share Posted August 27, 2022 They are a bit overstuffed with creme for my taste. Has anyone had ones on RSSC that aren’t filled?

Or just filling and no icing (someone mentioned they did not like icing)
vegasdriven Posted August 28, 2022 #25 Share Posted August 28, 2022 I think the sticky buns would be more my thing. Can you order these through room service?
