anyone succeeded (or failed) at making a 9:55 flight in Rome (FCO) on 9/5 if we self-disembark, first off the ship (Beyond)?  United Business and we can have a driver at the port early...

will appreciate all advice!

currently on a 12:55, but the 9:55 is nonstop....

I’m worried about making a 1:15 pm nonstop from Venice to New York now that the port is Ravenna. The ship says it arrives at six am. The trip is anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Your trip to Leonardo Da Vinci from the port is approx 1 hour to 1 1/2 if nothing bad happens , so I don’t think the early flight is a possibility. Unless you stay in Rome one night ( always a good idea) and take the non stop the next day.

I'd stick with 12:55...

Even if disembark runs smoothly and limo is on time...long ride to airport

(traffic?)   Baggage check in  security line can take a long time at FCO..no way to know ahead of time.

Non stop is great but stress is worse!  We stay over extra night so lucky you can leave on disembark day...

We just disembarked last week.  Walk off started at 6:30am.  We had Rome Cabs pick us up at 6:45am and were at FCO at 7:30am.  We had a 10:50am flight.  Checked in and through passport control and security by 8:30am.

The travel Gods really love you....they don't love my DH, if he is in the traveling party, things will go wrong just because.  His E MED test didn't stick closed properly and was invalid.  He had to test in FCO before our flight home in May.  Thank goodness we don't have that hurdle now.  There were two good sized lines at opposite ends of the terminal to get ticketed and clear security.  You made better time than we did.

that's what we are hoping for...wondering if we need to do VIP check in to be safe.   the 9:55 is direct, and home 7 hrs earlier...also $312 cheaper so almost covers the VIP check in......

What do you mean by that? My box opened as well because it got squeezed in the bag. I just added some glue via glue pen and that was the end of it. Looked like new.

When we were testing at the Hilton using E med my test (Abbott) went fine..negative.  My husband did the swab part and put it in the card to wait for results.  When he folded the card over it would not stay closed.  Rules required that it stay closed and flat without being held closed or touched.  His test was negative but proctor could not certify it.  We didn't have a back up test with us so to the Rome airport we went for a live test.  E med did give us a replacement for the bad test kit but just a warning that it is not over until you have the certified proof in hand.

In the perfect scenario it would be no problem for you to make that flight. However these days I never travel assuming the best case scenario. One snafu and everything can change on a dime. Late docking, immigration at the port for the ship, traffic regularity, airport problems, anything can make a tight connection impossible. It's up to you whether you feel comfortable risking it.

It took us 3 hours from the time we arrived at FCO (in June 2022) to get to our gate and that was WITH getting shuttled to the front of 2-3 security/customs lines because we were traveling with children under aged 14.  Just the bag drop line was an hour.  Get there really early.

We have a 10:30am flight on September 16th from Rome to NYC.  We're in a Suite so I hope we can walk off early.  We have a cab waiting for us and another couple at 6:30am.

our car is at 7, I didn't realize we could get off so early.  also in a suite.  actually thinking of booking a VIP escort at FCO.

Our experience in May disembarking Edge was similar in that walk off began at 6:30, driver was there at 6:45 and we were at FCO slightly past 7:30. We didn’t fare quite as well with check-in, security and passport control, but we still had nearly an hour in the lounge before boarding our 11:00am flight. Incidentally, the earliest recommended flight departure time from Celebrity was 10:40am.

I’d definitely be stressed about making a 9:55am flight. I had doubts with our 11:00am flight, but we were fortunate not to have any major hiccups.
