We had already put a booking place, at a lower fare than the new Promo, and we do have the PLUS added on.

I am wondering if we were to politely 'beg',  hahaha!  our Planner if she had any way that she could tack this $100. onto our booking?

You would forfeit your lower fare to rebook under the new promo. That's the way it works.

You play and enjoy and remember to cash out by the last night of the cruise before the casino closes (they seem to remind everyone every 30 minutes or so that day).

Caveat:  If your last port is Victoria and then you disembark in Vancouver the casino won't be open the last night of the voyage. Be sure to cash out before then. We received zero notice regarding this and had to wait for Princess to send us the money we had in the casino account.

Why can't Princess have the cashier open that evening? Seems like an easy and customer friendly thing to do.

FWIW our TA just informed us Princess told her the Shore Excursions perk was not combinable with the Shareholder Benefits OBC currently attached to the booking we refared last week to get a lower fare price as well as the $100 pp Excursion perk. However, she was able to have the SHB OBC replaced with the $100 pp Excursion perk for a net gain of $100 OBC.

That reads all wrong to me.  I don't believe I have ever heard of S/H OBC not being applicable with other Princess sales promos.

ETA:  When you re-fare, the S/H OBC can be lost at times and you need to re-apply.  Put it this way, you have nothing to lose if you re-submit the S/H request.

I'm just relaying what my TA was told regarding THIS Excursion perk when we refared our existing July 2023 booking. I subsequently logged onto my PCL Personalizer and the SHB perk had been replaced with the Shore Excursion Credit perk.

Booking Military Benefits   $100.00   $100.00   $200.00

Shore Excursion Credit*      $100.00   $100.00   $200.00

Future Cruise Deposit*        $50.00      $50.00     $100.00

Total Onboard Credits         $250.00    $250.00   $500.00

But you're right, it doesn't hurt to re-submit the S/H request. 🙂

I think we both realize that Princess reps often give out incorrect information.  I don't see anything in the T&C for this sales promo about excluding S/H Benefit and there is nothing in the S/H Benefit sheet about such a thing (other than being on a free cruise, interline, etc).

This does not make any sense. Unless your refare is one of the excluded fares, am fairly sure it is not, then the shareholder's benefit is combinable with any other fare and any other OBC offered. The Princess rep does not know what he/she is talking about. I would just resubmit the shareholder information.

"This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, interline rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. ..."

I agree totally, but then again these are strange cruising times we live in right now. I'm just sharing what our TA told us. Maybe someone else who has actually refared an existing booking to take advantage of the current Excursions perk that had SHB OBC already applied can provide a different picture. BTW we have also just resubmitted our S/H request for this booking, and I'll let you know what happens.

As a side note, the T&C also says this perk is "only available on new bookings ...". We also really can't complain too much as our M1 category on this cruise has been sold out for over a month now and our TA was able to get us a significant price reduction, even though it wasn't a new booking.

Shareholder's benefit is not another offer or promotion. It is a benefit offered by the Carnival board of directors for passengers booking on Carnival Corp owned cruise lines. I would resubmit my shareholder benefit.

If you resubmit and it is rejected then I would contact Carnival Corp. directly.

I think you may have misunderstood.  I was only going to the Future Cruise Consultant because she might know the answer of what the Shore Excursion OBC could be used for.

During the hours she is open, there has been a huge line to get in and see her.

Just curious if you were able to ask the future cruise consultant about the Shorex OBC.

I’m on the Discovery and booked a cruise for April 2024.  The consultant told me it included $100 OBC per person but when I received the email confirmation,  I noticed it said Shorex OBC and not OBC as the consultant said.  I was first in line this person (waited before they opened at 9am).  The line is usually long!

Agent probably had to make a new booking which will wipe away shareholder credit - have to resubmit shareholder request.

Just an update, all of which transpired on our original booking. Our TA did not have to cancel and then rebook to get the cheaper fares and additional Excursion OBC perk applied. We resubmitted the S/H request on Friday, and it had already been reposted to our booking by this morning. So all is good! 🙂

Every time I went by her office, if she was open, there was a two hour line to get in to see her, so I didn’t get a chance to ask her but I did ask at the guest services desk and then asked my Cruise Vacation Planner down at Princess … they both said the same thing:  it could be used for anything else that OBC can be used for while onboard.

Anytime our CVP / PVP touches our booking for repricing or adds a different promo, the shareholder credit does fall off.  Ours is good enough to add it back on when this happens, though.  We now have it to the point where she doesn’t add it until a few weeks before we actually cruise.  It’s less work for her that way.

Thank you for your reply!  I hear you about the line at the Future Cruise desk.  I’m happy to hear what your CVP said.

I just received another advertisement this morning with that $100  shore excursion credit as part of it.

at the bottom in small print it reads

" $100 Shore Excursion credit per guest is applicable to all guests (up to 4) in a stateroom. Guests with single occupancy will receive double the per guest credit amount. Shore Excursion credit may be used on a single voyage only, is not redeemable for cash, cannot be used in the casino, expires at the end of that voyage and is not applicable during the land portion of cruisetours. Shore Excursion credit is based on the ship's onboard currency."

Understand, and we were able to get our SHB reapplied once we subsequently resubmitted them. But don't forget the General Terms portion of the T&C that precedes it, which as we all know is up to interpretation based on the knowledge of the TA and/or the PCL rep involved with the booking "refare" where the SHB have already been applied.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just noticed all four of my booked 2023 sailings now have a new promo offering $100pp Shore Excursion Credit, pricing is still the same as what I booked. My CVP is off until Monday.  Before I call my CVP on Monday to cancel and rebook all 4 bookings, I would like to find out if anyone knows if those "shore excursion credits" can be used for gratuities or to buy items at the Princess shops, or pay for specialty dining.  I do not plan to book any excursions.   Thank you.

If we did that we would have to pay $1000 more for the same cabin as the cruise has gone up considerably from when we booked.  But we did get it for our 2024 cruise.
